Using the cardboard box as sides is a nice touch. I have used the ECO refill on both the original Masterspool by RichRap aswell as Creative Tools version. Both works great.

Mentioning cost of the filament: What does "one spool" cost the manufacturer, that sources them by the 100.000s of pieces and does the manufacturer give this to the clients? Would be neat to hear some actual numbers from manufacturers :)

I've heard that depending on your scale of production it can cost from 0,2-1,75$, but again I do not have the whole spectrum. It could be more and less of course =)

The sides in cardboard is Russian roulette.. at least if you're handling the spool often.. I made this "remix" www.myminifactory.com/object/3d-print-144525 with different sides for 800g and 1500g spools prinable on smaller beds(155x155mm for the big spool). Zip tie and screw alternative.. and you can even remove the filament from the spool..

Aah, smart! I guess CT is getting the reusable plexiglass sides out as a similar solution. Nice design!

I think it would be preferable to use screws or bolts to connect the two halves - which would cut down even more on waste. I wouldn't think it needs to be anything fancy or precise either -- just enough to stop it from separating while it turns. A 3d printed coarse bolt?

      That's smart!

Yeah like esun did it with their old spools / All of them were reuseable with their 1KG refills. But for me the refills are sadly to expensive. 4,5€ more per KG as the filament i normally use. But the 1,5KG coils are nice. i don't like that 700-800g ones

That's good price for filament, what do you use that cheap?

@@3DPrintTechDesign EINS3D PLA FUN+ This german shop is mainly a pipe supplier and 3d printing is only their second mainstay. actually it is 15,59 € per kilo www.eins3d.de/39-pla-fun-filament / shipping is free at orders over 150€ also within the EU. They provide only 8 colors but for the most parts it is ok.

How is the quality of the filament compared to other brands like 3dprima or addnorth if you have tried them?

I havent used the ECOrefill long enough to really say. But the regular ECO filament from CT is superb. It's still cheap and has been working very well for a long time! 3D Primas easyprint for example is beautifully spooled and have been working excellent for me in the Adventurer 3 particularly (where those spools fit). Addnorth have more beautiful combinations of creative materials that also work very well! You can see some on my other videos. I haven't tried their budget/standard PLA yet =)
