We are a family of 6 living life in North Pole, Alaska! Where Santa Claus House is right down the street! We love spending time together as a family, having fun, learning through homeschooling, growing in our faith, and building our forever home! We hope you enjoy seeing are crazy life, full of lots of laughs, great memories and maybe a few tears..

AWANA!!! My dad was the Commander of the Awana program at our church, Calvary Baptist, for 8-10 years. He loved the kids! I went through all the books, the elementary and high school. I received a Timothy Award for that. I started when I was in the 3ed grade. My dad was saved because I rode the bus to Awana, church, and Sunday school.
My dad started driving a bus and, later, was over the bus and AWANA programs.
When I had finished the 9th grade, that was as far as our program went, I became a leader and game leader.
I really enjoyed working with kids. After all these years, I still remember the CHUMS and GUARDS songs. Lol
Learning to drive on snowy roads for people from warm states is very important.

As a life long Alaskan, another tip for those thinking about moving here, research the area of Alaska you want to move to. Interior (Fairbanks area) is much different then southcentral (where I live) or southeast Alaska. Weather, landscape, accessibility unique to each area.
When moving in the past community has been a major priority. A recommendation I would give to anyone moving with kids is have a plan. Especially considering school and childcare. It’s very different depending on the state and location. Also if you move make sure you register to vote where you live.

Here in Australia, we have clean up Australia Day once a year, it has been going since 1990 and is a big community event all over Australia.

My nephew has just transferred to Anchorage for the Army. I see a visit in my future.

That was a treat to see 2 KIWI`S at the airport, i am a Kiwi [ New Zealand ] also, kiwi`s are New Zealand`s national bird which are nocturnal.
Exactly I have been looking at plane tickets to come visit my son who lives in Fairbanks and they are outrageous. They’re going to be having a new baby so I’ll be flying out there this coming January or February.
At 10:29 I am still in awe at the size of the mosquito that almost nailed Bert. I have never seen a mosquito that size before and can only pray I never do…

Oh yeah, I remember the Awana days. I was part of it for a small time as a kid, then later I helped my mom with the Cubbies. We were also part of the Patch the Pirate Club. Anyone remember that or was apart if it? We wore white sailor caps and had to wear a bandana or something because I remember I had to learn how to tie a square knot.
Don’t forget about adjusting to the darkness of winter and the daylight of summer. I think it’s harder to adjust to the darkness in winter.

Bert, you need to clarify what winterizing your vehicle. The person that is moving to Alaska, They need to ask that the vehicle be winterize for Alaska weather cause down here in the south winterizing a vehicle just means changing all the fluids.

That is awesome. It will great for you both to learn so much more about each other. And it will be awesome for Olivia and Aspen to grow together. We have a niece and a nephew that are the same age and spent the first 10 years in the same town. They are still so close, even thought they are teens now and when they are together it's impossible to get a word in.

Please pray for my husband and I. We have been trying for a baby for 8 years now. I turn 40 in a few months. I know that God is in control and as much as I want to be a mumma, I know that His plan for our lives is perfect.

Awanas allowed me to bring many of my friends and others to Christ. I also loved it myself! Congrats on the move and pregnancy. How exciting to have family nearby.

We hae always flown alaska airlines most the time but we found tickets cheaper with delta lately, i am talking 50 percent cheaper

Now that you are in the construction business could you talk about trade apprentice programs. Where we live it is a 4 year program for most trades a combination of work and school. Go over what an apprentice will make at each level and what they can expect to make when they graduate.
The best thing about having children help with a community trail or highway cleanup is, they become adults who NEVER litter!!!

I'm flying up in a couple of weeks to look at a cabin on the Kenai and it was ridiculous trying to find a flight. It's cheaper to fly to Hawaii from where I'm at.

I haven't watched you guys in some time since I've been busy with school, but it's so refreshing to just lay back and see what you're up to. Feels like my little, 20-minute transport to Alaskan life and in this case Arizona too. Lots of changes in recent months lol, can't wait to see where the future leads for you guys!

My niece and her husband and their 3 children are moving to Juneau, they are both doctors and he's been flying back and forth from Juneau to Indiana since January he was saying how expensive it is. He's one of their ER doctors. My niece grew up in Alaska and she loves it as does her husband. 😊 My mom was involved in Awana for over 25 years, she has since passed away but she loved it.
