So I’ve scrolled back and forth to look at your kale. To me it looks like what we Americans call savory cabbage. I’m sure it’s tasty too. I still have leftover ham in the freezer from Easter that would work in this soup, thanks!
This is quite funny actually :) I've been using these "kale heads" my entire life as a substitute for Tuscan or other kale types, when I couldn't find them at the store and I've never realized it's actually a slightly different type of vegetable... in the same family, but still a bit different, I'd say with a bit milder taste. But you are right, it's Savoy Cabbage most likely.
What type of kale is that? I've never seen kale that light in color, looks more like cabbage. Not that there's anything wrong with a good cabbage soup... :P
It is actually Savoy Cabbage :) For my entire life, I was using it, thinking its just another type of kale… and looks like many people think the same. It’s very similar to kale in taste though :)
