I have read all the books. It prompted me to start seriously prepping. Twenty two years of military experience hasn't hurt. I stand ready. Great video. People listen up!!!

    Thank you Amy!
I would say that if you have an electric sewing machine, it is possible to use it without power by turning the flywheel by hand. Not the best option but would still be faster than hand sewing.😊
    Blessings! 💜

I've listened to the whole series on audible. I listen to audible while I work in. My garden, can, etc. A huge reality check.

Enjoyed your videos one thing we found handy with canning are the fileing cabinets that have long drawers that pull from the long side the caning jar boxes fit and it makes it easy to acces all jars with ease,to prevent from over looking older foods.

Not a band but a belt for the sewing machine. Leather with a staple you need an awl to make the hole for the staple to join the belt. It stretches and you have shorten it. You can also use a nylon rope and melt it together. Antique sewing machines have attachments that will do things like button holes or zig zagging.
You will need a collection of thread. Cotton thread deteriorates so polyester is better. You will need a lot plus zippers, buttons, etc... Singer brand is better and attachments are more available.

I read that book years ago and have recommended it to so many people. It opened my eyes to what could happen and helped me increase my preps. Good list of things needed, great video!

Amy, I've looked online for more info re EMPs. Typically, articles concede they could happen but wouldn't be as bad as "One Second After". Literally, no one that I could find addresses if anything has been done to prevent damage from EMPs. Transparency is seriously lacking. Have to say that it makes me think the "One Second After" author got it right. The govt probably protected their own and we're on our own....

Check out this article: The Congressman Who Went Off the Grid
Roscoe Bartlett spent 20 years on Capitol Hill. Now he lives in a remote cabin in the woods, prepping for doomsday.
By JASON KOEBLER January 03, 2014
Bartlett implemented a lot of great ideas in his off grid compound.

I read One Second After early this year. It is a wake up call. Last month Eugene got the dexcom glucose meter and is weaning himself off insulin.. and he hasn't read the book! I just ordered Last Light by Terri Blackstock which is similar. Girl, go to EMT school. That EMT bag is not as useful as the EMT book. Get both. They cover child birth. I delivered over a dozen, one of the last little ones was breech. I had forgotten what to do! So I prayed for guidance. Suddenly my hands reached down and little Nicholas was born! My parents were teens during the great depression so I've been a prepper for all of my 68 years. That came in handy when we moved close to the Gulf Coast (hurricanes). Get barter items you can also use. Soap. Dawn. Thread. Seeds. Hand tools. A knife sharpening stone. Lighters. Matches. Candles. Nail clippers. Scissors.

Hello Amy. I often tune in to your videos out of interest in herbal care and your homesteading ideas also, as it is all new and interesting to me. I have to ask, since apparently homesteading is a giant endeavor, if you have any comments on how to select a husband at the start of all this?

Amy, have you, or could you, put together a purchase source list for all the things...not just in this video, but your favorite places that you trust?
I love your sound quality with this mic.
You're swiftly becoming my favorite homesteader, herbalist and prepped! God bless you and yours!

I have had 3 babies at home, without a midwife. Only because they never made it on time, Lol 😊. I put together my own birth kit, very simple along with lots of prayer. My second son was 1 hour from start of labor until he was born. I went through the birthing stages very rapidly. Not fun but he was in a Hurry 😂

Could you please post links to the Midwifery books you referenced? I too believe this is an important skill to learn.
