    Actually Ale was 11! Also Pau didn’t drop her stick; she broke it and the end flew off and landed on a cymbal. The audience never realized what happened. Pau had heels on to look taller as they spoke between songs. This was a milestone concert as it was the first time “You have been warned!” was said in public. It was also the concert that hooked many fans including me.

      Ale' was 11 in the first Ted X talk the year before. As I recall this was in early January before Dany's birthday so she was 16, Pau was 14, and I believe Ale' was 12. Yes! So many people just don't see that stick split and land on the cymbal. Not sure why but I noticed it the first time I watch this video and went back a couple time to make sure I was not mistaken.

    • @TampaCardFan
      @TampaCardFan Рік тому +19

      @@timnye718 that is correct. Ale had just turned 12 weeks before while Dany and Pau were just weeks away from turning 17 and 15. For people interested in the stick, it breaks at 1:29 (of the original video), Pau discards the busted one at 1:36, she is using the new stick at 1:40, and she hits the cymbal at 1:58 causing the fragment to go flying.

      Got me hooked as well. Like many others, I'd noted the viral _Enter Sandman_ cover a few years previously, and sort of said, "Neat" and moved on. Then sometime in '18 I had a lot of time to kill while I was shutting down a business venture, and randomly remembered that video and wondered what else these girls had been up to. This TedX popped up near the top of the search result, and "the rest is history" as they say. 😋

    Pau didn't actually 'drop' a stick, it had broken as you can see the piece fly to the right landing on her cymbals, a thing that happens quite frequently with our Paulina. moments later you can see the broken piece go flying off stage from a particularly energetic cymbal hit! Pau's pony tail really goes flying, don't it? And speaking of Ale, that bass line was her creation. Talent, even way back then!

    The Warning is probably the best band I have seen live and heard in a long time. They have mastered their instruments and the songwriting just signifies a maturity that most bands twice their age have not reached in their lyrics. I recommend seeing them live.

    There are two more songs at this mini concert, Unmendable and When I'm Alone. The concert that made me a lifelong supporter of The Warning. You could just see that they are destined for greatness. And now they just finished a 4 gig tour with Muse in their home country of Mexico. Outstanding DPA. Peace.

    Their spoken parts are well worth listening to. As others have commented the drumstick broke but Pau already had a lot of experience picking up a fresh stick, normally from a holder on her left. This last summer there was even an occasion where one broke near the end of a song. She switched the remaining stick and hit the last couple of notes with her bare hand. They just finished 4 shows in Mexico with Muse and the two bands hit it off. Muse showed themselves to be a class act and very welcoming to the ladies.

    • @dougtittl78418
      @dougtittl78418 Рік тому +10

      i just wish they could have been able to play more than 30 minutes, and that muse would of invited ale onstage to perform hysteria with them, even just the monterrey show!

    • @MrJest2
      @MrJest2 Рік тому

      @@dougtittl78418 A lot of that scheduling is set up ahead of time "behind the scenes", and the bands have little input into it. Given the relatively short notice, I suspect a bit of wheeling-and-dealing was done to get them on at all. But, as they say, "there's always next time". I'm sure they are now on Muse's personal short list of people to call when they start building out the next tour series. Depends probably a lot on if Muse are interested in doing a festival tour or not; those tend to be a bit more open and flexible venues than set-piece "opener/headliner" shows in municipal stadiums.

    I can't explain enough how impressed I am with these young ladies. When I was a teen, several decades ago, I was a lead singer in a small town band. The leader of the band was an incredible musician and could play like 16 different instruments. He tought me how to play the drums on a recording we were making of Peter Criss/Kiss's Beth. When I had finally learned the drum part of the song and tried to sing and play the drums it was like my hands quite working. I could not sing and play the drums. I could do one or the other but not both... It does take special talent to be able to play instruments and sing and all 3 of these incrdible young ladies can do both and play multiple instruments... Love Love their music.. It like fills you with LIFE.... It's engergizing...

    What amazes me is how multi-talented they all are, both "left-brain" and "right-brain." Even at this earlier performance, you can see the laptop computer next to Paulina (at 8:33 in Rosalie's reaction video). This doesn't get talked about much, but Pau uses it to control the click track, any audio backing tracks, any video being shown, and Dani's pedal board settings. This is high-tech stuff, the sign of true pros. She's programmed it herself for years now and it contributes a lot to the high professional level of their live performances. What a pro! Listen to her explaining it here: ua-cam.com/video/sdJqYrzsfWg/v-deo.html

    • @MrJest2
      @MrJest2 Рік тому +8

      I've heard (rarely) some commenters disparage the backing tracks and effects as "being fake", without understanding that almost all of them are recorded by the ladies themselves, and are precisely timed. I think the only thing they don't do is some animation art for sets like the QOTMS concerts. But pretty much everything else is just them, recording clips as needed like the piano heard here during the "groove" outro and triggered by Pau when appropriate. There are performers twice their age who can't multi-task as well, and rely on a whole series of assistants and studio musicians to "fill in" their live performances, pre-recorded or not.

    • @Musabre
      @Musabre Рік тому +1

      @@MrJest2 I mean, if megabands like Muse can get away with a metric ton of behind the curtain programming and hands-free effects changes and everything else, why can't they?
      Never understood the 'fake' argument. I doubt most musicians or musically aware people would make that criticism, as it's pretty silly.
      I mean, if they were lip syncing the vocals?.... sure, haha.

    To me, they are amazing in many ways. Pure hard eock.All xatxhy tunes, And, most of all: uniquw!
    Means: i don't see any vpies. O.K.: 3 sigers in a band of 3 should be pretty rare (I don't have numbers.) But: I don't see any copies. Get ready to hate me , now: I'm a huge Led Zeppeling fan. Became a fab of Greta van Fleet very soon. Watched 'em in concert. But, today: I jear sniplets of Zep songs in every single song they come zp with. Just strung together.
    And then, stating "who is Led Zeppelin? Our main influece is ACDC."
    Doesn't go together for me. That is, what The Warbing are to me: they are their own.
    Jethro Tull never sounded like Deep Purple. Led Zeppelin never like Iron Butterfly. Uriah Heep never like Black Sabbath.
    That makes the differenc to me.

    You missed the part when lil Ale spoke..Anyhow, this was 1 of the 1st songs I heard by them that they actually wrote. Before that I had heard covers, which were all great! But after hearing Survive, I was on the hook!! Still 1 of my favs by TW. There is a vid, I wanna say from '19 where they are playing in MX and Pau is playing that outtro semi standing while bouncing on her stool. It's epic!

    Great reaction! Some reactors comment that the oh-oh-ohs in The Warning's songs make the songs weak because the ladies are using chants because they can't come up with words. I don't think that's the case because the ladies have proven over and over again they can write strong lyrics. I think they add those chants for the reason you mentioned--it allows for audience participation.

      Other reactors have said that the chants are an excellent way of “filling out” the song. As a three piece, they don’t have a 2nd / Rhythm guitarist that would typically fill that function.

    I've got suggestions for you. From Ireland the young ladies known as Dea Matrona, from France it's Laura Cox and from Texas USA I recommend Ally Venable. These ladies are all classic rock, rock and blues rock respectively.

    She dropped the drumstick because if you watch closely a couple seconds before the stick broke a piece went flying accross the drumset

    Great reaction Rosalie! This whole presentation/performance was great as well, it was around 20 minutes. This particular performance was how I was warned, Pau obviously got my attention at first and the outro still sounds epic after hearing the song hundreds of times now. I usually refer to this song as "oh oh oh oh" instead of Survive lol!

    Rule of thumb with The Warning; Dani is the same age as the year (2023=23) on her bday Jan. 30, Pau is almost 2 years younger than Dani (21) minus about a week on Feb. 5, and Ale is nearly 3 years younger than Pau (18) less a couple of months Dec. 13. So, unless it's the Dec. or Jan. You can figure out easily how old each member is. Even then, you wouldn't be far off.

    About the stick swap on the fly…my friend the professional drummer was unimpressed, “all professional drummers do that”. Paulina, professional drummer, 16 years old . I asked him about a crazy fill by Pau. He was unimpressed. “Ya , Neil Peart does that”.
