Elguu :D eh best survivability falls with rage, it’s a double edged sword if you end up rage crashing but rage has some good tools available to it without just simply popping all shields
oh yea thanks to you i will come back to this game.. im CR 163 that was the total back in the years, looks like it is 270 something now. Earth Loadout seem to be the same but the black Shield thats new to me.
Every time I come back it's like a brand new game in that the way you play is different. They've really dumbed it down over the years. I thought the GU36 thing was terrible, and then they did the scaling thing that screwed up soloing old content. It's not quite as stupid now as it was, but they killed precision combo powers, and clipping is still pretty much gutted. The Revengencers, and Squad 11 are gone now too. Sheesh.
Fire Tank is good for Healing youself on Solo, Duo and Alert when there is no healer, you can pretty much survive all the instance without Healer role in group. On Raids, you need healers of course :D
Could you explain how Amazonian reflect works, I know you cast it as any other shield but I'm assuming it makes you block and holds you on position of where you casted the power at?
Yes you are locked in position until its duration is done, while you are in amazon deflection you will take no damage and cannot die as its the strongest shield at the moment within the game, that doesn't mean its perfect you can get knocked out of amazon deflection and you can be stunned out, it doesn't happen everytime but its still possible for it to happen. Think of it like "blocking" but you take 0 damage.
Cool vid Obsidian, id appreciate if you can help me out, what do you think its better for ice tank, pop a shield and block or rotating shields and never block? Because when you block you lose the deffense buff. And i did watch the part when you are at area 51 and never blocke...is that also viable for elite raids? I would really appreciate an answer.
LUISPATD for ice and running fortified assault in your neck it’s better for an ice tank to never block, your def gets higher and you can more easily go for counters on the npcs, the whole time you need to block is an attack that is blockable to get a counter like say the boss was doing a weapon hold combo on you, you can simply block and get the counter instead of taking that unnecessary damage
Great guide as always. Always fun to watch your videos because they explain pretty much everything worth to know. One thing that I would like to ask though is about hard light shield. I am not 100% sure but I am 99.9% sure that hard light shield does not stack with other shields. Now if you did mention this in your video I must have missed it also from what I know this also counts for shields cast by a healer and not only your own shield.
In regards to HLS stacking I can't confirm or deny this I have never tested that specifically I can try that later to find out, I know there is a bug that has a chance to occur with Celestial and HLS. If a celestial heal casts blessing and then you summon HLS, HLS will have zero protection, this could be attributed to your stacking assumption, I have clipped HLS with reflect etc before and not paid any attention to see its strength but as far as I know its only with celestial heals that bug occurs.
Just a follow-up one of our league tanks mentioned to me about further clarification with HLS, he said it stacks with tank shields and troll shields but doesn't stack with any healer shield except water. So I will see if I can make a future video about testing it then
13:00 i Use to Fire Tank hybrid damaging without blocking and it work on endgame raids too. Its hard, it demands concentration, SP and comitment to it. but it is possible with fire :D
Can you test absorb heat with the empowered channeling mod? It’s probably the best mod for fire because you activate fire soul while using it, gives you an extra 5% Defense, and heals you. Tanked the hive raid yesterday without a healer
I usually run crippling stance just for the stun, the other option that is good is soul link where if you put a pet out like boo or sidekick or if you are earth etc you will transfer damage to the pet. Its not alot just 2% but it at least helps
I’m a little confused on something. So during the 8 seconds of severe punishment, should I use the chain move immediately after I use severe punishment to prevent rage crash or do I use the chain after the 8 seconds?
always use severe punishment off cooldown but you want to wait to use chain until about 8 oclock on the cooldown or about 60% ish on the cooldown if you use it there you won't crash. You can also listen to when the heart beat speeds up but you want to wait till just past half the cooldown after using severe punishment to use chain.

Chill I'm returning to the game and starting over as a tank. After watching the video I'm still torn in what tank power to try. Any recommendations? Also I know I will be far behind the skill poi t curve so what are some things I should be doing to catch up?
DLiXRe the most skill point friendly tank is ice, so if you are worried you can go ice. For a tank that’s a bit more engaging and still very strong you can go rage.

Reflect was better before the revamp but it lost its buff in the changes so winterward is the strongest ice shield atm.
When tanking terra when I use reflect and she does her very first attack it goes away but when I use hard or Ward when she does that very first attack both of those shields stay up and in hive elite my reflection doesn’t last like Ward or hard but it might be different on test server
But I’ll just have to test it out and hard will never stack with a healer shield that’s why when it’s group shielding I don’t pop a shield only shatter restraints so my ice armor is still intact
DCUO Snap On 74k+ healing with a supercharge or a shield that absorbs 74k + every 30 seconds is the question :) one is reactionary damage where you’ve already taken the damage and the other is preventative damage where you don’t require the healing
after my gadgets one I am planning on doing a guide like this covering some healer loadouts and spec yes. Just need to put some more work into it as I don't often heal :) I can talk about controlling and tanking just off the top of my head just like in this video but healer I need to think about ^_^
I still prefer a stun or the quick knock down from frost slam over gale. Gale will only be good if you are trying to knockdown adds from range since frost slam is close range

Shaun king dom is not that important for fire or rage, for fire all the dom is helping is your 1 shield unless you run hard light shield. Fire relies on its base health buff in addition to the healing so you want to get you base health as high as possible for fire because it’ll be inefficient to spec primarily into dom just like rage

Shaun king yea the refactor the health artifact is really the only good one, there is the legionaries sparring ai that gives you immunity on counters but it’s weak for tanks
The way this content is setup you have continual damage plus spike damage like Tera in Hive or Hive Master/Npcs in Machine so because of the extra defense of earth you are continually taking less overall damage where as with say ice which is typically one of the better tank powersets you have all the environmental damage eating up your shields and you don't have enough for the spike damage. Rage is also just as good, better for multiple adds. Fire and Ice and somewhat Atomic are just not as suited for this type of content that is currently out. Next dlc that may change.
Seth Bollins Ice is the most forgiving tank in terms of skill points being needed as dom scales well with ice and the new focus for tanks is just rotating shields which ice has plenty of
OK is it just me, or is earth tanking really hard once you hit tier 1? Like in Ace Chemicals my brick's health dropped in about 3 seconds, and that wasnt even on the first sub boss. I spec just like you say with my measly amount of sp. Is earth just not self-sufficient without a healer? Or am I doing something wrong?
I wouldn't say you are doing anything wrong its just at that level Brick itself won't be that strong, its just because of your level and stats aren't high enough yet where you can see a noticeable increase in your survivability. Do you use fortify golem and totem in your loadout or where you just using brick?

KAPY- MIGUEL dcuobloguide is rarely if ever updated and it’s just random players making loadouts, especially at revamp their guides weren’t good and had to be all changed. There are much more trustworthy guides or videos on the DCUO forums and UA-cam then the website bloguide
I use a shield rotation and mods for defense when I'm not blocking. So I do once in a blue moon block but not in turtle style. Meaning powers then block. I use block as a fast counter, mostly attacking one handed. I do agree most people will have to turtle. I just can't. I've been one shot like 2 times ever. And it was max CR raids. If I would have turtled then I wouldn't have been one shot, but I had more fun. Lol. I just don't like the turtle style. Good video though
with fortified assault neck fire is getting defense while not blocking so in the past the turtle build was far better with fire but now with the revamp changes its pushed to play that playstyle which is perfectly fine. The only drawback with fire is you are stuck to the same powers and can not really have any variations besides 1 power really.
his munitions dps rotation is trash lol, he doesn't even show you a single target rotation and does the same on both. Both of the 10s parsers he showed are complete garbage and won't even come close to the rotations I will reveal in my guide this week so GG

lol ok they only say that because they just want to do high damage with their jackhammer spam but the pure aftershocks build isn't the highest for survivability its a brick build. When the new dlc comes out you aint gunna see all those earth tanks using aftershocks on the new raids cause they are going to get their shit pushed in.
also funny when you say damage reduction when that was taken out at revamp and its just a defense percentage increase. Damage absorption was how aftershocks worked before revamp.

What's a good Dom to have for ice tanks? I'm sitting g at iirc 10.5k at cr240 / 370sp. My tank artifact is still around level 3 though

Tier 2, assuming I make it that far without deleting my character, is a different story all together.

I use a shield rotation and mods for defense when I'm not blocking. So I do once in a blue moon block but not in turtle style. Meaning powers then block. I use block as a fast counter, mostly attacking one handed. I do agree most people will have to turtle. I just can't. I've been one shot like 2 times ever. And it was max CR raids. If I would have turtled then I wouldn't have been one shot, but I had more fun. Lol. I just don't like the turtle style. Good video though
with fortified assault neck fire is getting defense while not blocking so in the past the turtle build was far better with fire but now with the revamp changes its pushed to play that playstyle which is perfectly fine. The only drawback with fire is you are stuck to the same powers and can not really have any variations besides 1 power really.

I use shrap grenade rocket retreat for damage shield then mini nuke then rail guns chain guns and robot sidekick until biggun is ready. Hope it helps.

lol ok they only say that because they just want to do high damage with their jackhammer spam but the pure aftershocks build isn't the highest for survivability its a brick build. When the new dlc comes out you aint gunna see all those earth tanks using aftershocks on the new raids cause they are going to get their shit pushed in.

also funny when you say damage reduction when that was taken out at revamp and its just a defense percentage increase. Damage absorption was how aftershocks worked before revamp.
