Hope you enjoy our day! If you know where this is, please don’t comment it here though🙏 I’m getting quite a lot of heat from locals afraid that I’ll share their zones with the world..
You sound like a surfer now and the worst thing about surfing is localism. I always say that skiing is different. Please don't prove us wrong. P.S. Great content ! :)
Ha! Weird to see surf culture coming into skiing. I've always thought skiing is far more collaborative wrt beta on lines and especially snow safety. For those of us who can't spend a month in Cham skiing with IMFGA guides, the location would be cool to know.
I really think your channel is the definition of high quality vids. It's so calming to watch it. The mix between scenery, talks, skiing is just perfect. Keep up the great work!
Each of your videos feels like I'm watching a big-picture ski movie! You CHARGE every time! I can't wrap my mind around it, and the storytelling and videography are insane. Keep it up!
The snowboard crash got very high points here from the judges. Feet up + head down and good style. I would say 9.8. -0.2 from a clean 10.0 as the riders pants are still on.
Amazing video. You should publish a book of 80 drops around the world with the exact location with some tips sponsored by Black Crows. That will get the locals happy. 😎🤙
sick video Nikolai - I met you with my dad on the 22nd when you were training from the bottom of Grande-Monte, not sure if you remember but I was literally watching your videos the night before, we recognised your backpack
Great video! That backpack strap snapping is messed up - its supposed to endure avalanche pummeling you through rocks & trees and still be on your back - reach out to the manufacturer.
man as a norwegian myself this is kinda my dream to do, but none of my friends are into it and I don't know what groups/ where to reach people that are into this. I'm 21 years old atm and maybe one day, one day I will do this with a group of friends.
haha, amazing stuff, but still funny how you've blurred the name of the spot :D you're afraid someone can figure out what the spot it is? It took me a moment, as 'Chamonix' was a bit misleading, but don't worry, it simply isn't in conditions most of the time, It gets far too much sun, hence the tons of people that pass by barely pay attention ;) Anyway, good call, though, the luxury of having a local guiding you around.
It's the old nocta. I actually prefer the new one. A bit more stable in the landings, while it still floats as well and turns on a dime. I chat about it in this video: ua-cam.com/video/64GRiFlNODk/v-deo.html
Your videos are truely amazing! The camera work coloring and editing in general all match and deliver what they should. But me as Photo/Video guy myself would be interested on how you go about the production especially the audio side of things as it seems you use lavs as mics and then sync the audio to all the footage via timecodes or something. I think a video about your production process would be really interesting.
Take an avanche class, buy the gear (ua-cam.com/video/64GRiFlNODk/v-deo.htmlsi=vbax0SqXH1lZ6b23) and off you go :) The great thing about the mountain is you can just go do it. It’s good to go with friends or guides who have experience though at first. It’s dangerous out there
Niko is riding 189.2cm skis, I assume Jacob is on a similar size and Krister is on a snowboard probably not longer then 165cm a size that is equivalent to a ski size most beginners would use or a shorter person might want. They are all similar sized humans. When I see similar crashes on the FWT, it makes me wonder if a 189.2cm snowboard would have allowed Krister to land with style and ease.🤔
there is just no point in making such a calculation, there is just so many other, more important variables than surface, even within the boards, its the stiffness, the rocker, the tip shape, but most importantly snowboard has widely different position and balance, you can get away with some stuff that would be hard on skis and vice versa.
Pointless feels a bit dismissive. I am looking at the lever arm created by the human onto the board in relation to the angle of the snow. A longer tail on a snowboard effectively moves the fulcrum farther away from the rider, reducing the leverage. A longer nose would move the Fulcrum point forward and increase the planing surface allowing the rider to put more weight forward while reducing the chances of tip dive. This design would allow riders on steep slopes to land "bolts" rather than "backseat". Current snowboard design is mimicking skateboards that are intended to perform well on low angle or level surfaces. Skis have always been designed to perform well on steep snow surfaces. Now we see Snowboards entering traditional ski territory and their design failing the rider.@@mmmmkkk
@@psychedeliccheese pointless cause body position changes much more than that. Or at least the last time I check my knees only bend in 1 direction and your movement in the hips and back is very different backward/forward than to the side. Also having feet fixed in like is huge difference to being able to spread themz etc. etc. length of the tail is extremely minor in all that. And no, skis we're not ALWAYS designed to perform well on steep nor deep snow, most of them are still not. Differences between models are huge. Landing wise even binding position changes tons
@@psychedeliccheese and of course, you can make longer nose and tails in both of those sports, and its done here and there, but there is a lot of side effects, even worse if you use it for climbing as well.

Lol been there. Don't let it bother you. They don't own the land, it's for all of us to enjoy
Don’t even worry about them, your content is amazing and is one of the reasons I’m getting into skiing brotha

Fuck em gate keepers. Skiing shouldn't be toxic like that, let people ski

Krister went so fast his board turned into a Boeing 737, so much for reducing emissions 😂
We had to plant 8793 trees after that flight🌲
@@Nikolai_Schirmer Sending hard, offsetting harder 🔥

It's incredibile how this episodes can cheer you up immediately!

Although I tour myself, I’ll never do anything remotely close to this but I still look forward to all your videos. They are so beautiful.
Glad Krister’s okay, scared me for a bit haha
The 2nd guy to drop in had such a nice line! Best of the 4 for sure
I just love you!! Classic music is life! I can work better, think better, and be grateful for life
I am just thriving off the energy and flow in this vid. So, so great, so positive! LOVE IT
Dude these videos are actually incredible and life affirming!! You all seem to really appreciate it and take it all in. Love it!!
Like the time stamps to get the feeling how much time it all takes. Watching you guys make me wanna do this also. Enjoy!
¡Gracias!
love the Santigold. Brings back great memories.
Insane sends like always! Spine runs have to be some of my most favorite runs to watch!
Blackcrows are lucky to have you
Unreal as always Niko, it is great that this years season is super solid
Whatever it is I’m sure it’ll be epic, filmed well & be as inspiring as your other projects

Crazy good video, from the sounds and the perfect images to the immaculate vibes of the crew. Don't think it gets any better than that. :)
Always the best thank you 🙏
That final climbing section up to the ridge gave me chills. I wonder how you can even get stable footing when it’s that steep with lots of snow.
So freaking sick! Wish there was a bit more snow in Australia!
Great seeing you guys go out with Jacob. I came across your channels separately and love you both!
Beautiful day. Great sytle guys. You're killing it!
Some of the best film making out there!
Tom is the man!!!
Love the Santigold on the 2nd lap. As always, great video!
Hell yeah Nico, back on the good soundtracks
What a day out. Great vid
Can't get enough of this content
What do you do after a day like this you finish at like mid day. Do you do a couple rounds on the ski slopes or just relax and eat like kings

Giving an interview while hiking is wild
This is perfect!
Yessss, another day another send - yeeew

That was closer to freefall than skiing.
You triggered my worst fear: Taking off with skis too wide

Wow how do you expose for mountain in the back and face under a lamp at the same time 😮
god I love your videos !!!
The problem I have with this is you need 5h to go up and 1.5min to ski down😭
what are those couloir snowshoes called?
Can anyone calculate the speed he must have been going ? I mean his damn board started genarating lift...
If you had to choose: Chamonix or Tromsø?
That last clip was $. Good shit.
6:31 which lens is that?
What shoes are you rocking nowadays? 😀
Good thing Krister didn’t pop a slab and forget to tell his friends there was an avalanche behind him

What brand of backpack was he using? The one that broke?

It’s opensnow

It’s pretty straight forward :) we use tentacle sync, and then log everything properly in premiere
Agreed! Would love to see more bts and process!
I was sure Krister was going to Sallanches hospital in a helicopter. Relieved it went OK for him. Maybe he should take up speed riding.
how do you get into doing this? genuinely curious
