There are 2 ways to do this. This walkthrough will guide you step by step on how to get to Staunton Island in GTA 3 without any cheat.
First method is to jump the Callahan Bridge by foot and the second one is to walk above the underwater tunnel that goes to Staunton Island.

I've been doing the 1st method the whole time but I did the 2nd method and I'm at Staunton Island! Thank you so much!
There is a method by reversing a vehicle right to the edge of the wall, above the tunnel. Once the vehicle's rear wheels go off the land it will start to slide into the water. The key is to leave the car as the slide starts to speed up. With luck you end up on the roof of the tunnel.
This was something I read on an extinct Web page on GTA3. It had maps of the packages and the challenges and cheats. I am not sure of the best vehicle. I have been trying in the Perennial Station Wagon. It was supposed to be easier than jumping the bridge. But it has been a long while since I played GTA3.
I thought that you could get past the subway barrier in Portland & catch a train. These are exploiting glitches in the game, or Easter Eggs. Call them what you will.

Woah! The tunnel method still works in the definitive edition in PSNOW in 2021 😂
Can confirm as of patch 1.04 on the definitive trilogy the second method still works and is very easy to do (way easier than the first method).
You just have to know where to line up, as stated in the video, otherwise you’ll drown and have to reload.

I got caught by the cops and they sent me back to Portland........so I guess that's a way lol
@@zeluga42047 Yeah unfortunately if you get busted or wasted while in a not yet unlocked part of the map (ie anywhere in SI or SV), you’ll get returned back to LCPD in Portland or the Portland View Hospital. One way to avoid it if you want to stay in SI or SV is to immediately go to the safehouse on either island and make a save. Then if you get busted or wasted and sent back to Portland you can just reload the save where you’re on one of the other islands. Just be careful not to accidentally overwrite that save lol.

Dunno about that but I would assume so. I know it works on the PS3 release and Definitive Edition versions though.
the 1 Method works on all platforms yes even on ps2 and android

Method 2 you can even walk through the out of bounds area until it looks like you’re in Shoreside Vale. If you walk into the void there, it will drop Claude in Wichita Gardens in SV.
