At the time this video was taken, I lived in DC. Robert, Chris, Tony (sometimes Rob Stoner) and Anton regularly played a little club called the Roxy. I'd pay my $8 five minutes before the show started and walk right up to the stage halfway between where Robert and Chris. They opened with this song, but Robert wouldn't be on stage to start. The band would ease into a killer instrumental intro, several minutes long, tight. Chris, his tongue hanging out, would construct these creatively elaborate arrangements, just shredding, making eye contact with Tony and Anton, locking in ... then Robert would walk out and boom ..."The way I walk is just the way I walk" ... and I'm five feet away.
    God, I loved it.

I saw some of his shows at The Roxy as well but later, in 85 or 86 I think. They were great shows that I recorded and still think those versions of 'Summertime Blues' were the best. And you're right about the band playing that perfect intro instrumental that led to heaven.

    Théâtre de l’Empire à PARIS .
J’y étais et c’est moi à 2 minutes 35 sur le clip (chemise blanche et bleue).
Je n’oublierai jamais ce grand moment.
RIP dans le paradis du rock n roll Robert.

1980 was a great time to be alive. The variety and quality of music in the clubs was incredible!

I have his 1978 album "Fresh Fish Special" with Link Wray. Had this song and many other great ones on it. His rendition of "Fire" written by Bruce Springsteen is the best I've heard.

I was nightclubbing back in those days (well not until 1981 really). I think I would have DESPISED this act at the time, and now in my lethargical senescent years I can't stop listening to it.
