For any tall riders, I’m 1.93cm (6’ 4”), I followed Toby’s lead and fitted this screen. I also put the screen support and a cross screen support as well. Screen is brilliant. Made a huge difference compared to the stock screen I had on my 2015 GS for both myself and my pillion. I don’t even need it fully up unless on the highway doing 100km/hr or more. Generally ride with my visor up, no buffeting, no issues. Cheers Toby.
Great video, thank you. I’m 6’3 and what’s useful here are comments from some of the vertical challenged people like myself. I was about to order the screen until I seen a few comments saying that wind noise etc for the taller folk didn’t really change that much to justify the cost. The jury is out for me until I speak to someone who has it and is tall. Being tall and handsome has its disadvantages 😜😜😜😜
Hello Toby! I installed the screen, which is indeed top quality; thick, strong material and with the additional bracket sits solidly in position. I am 6 ft. tall, with short legs at 32 in. inseam. My upper body, up to eye level, is remarkably wind and turbulence free. In the high position, a strong steady airflow now hits my forehead, which would have hit my face/visor square on previously. There is still considerable wind noise to be heard. A good improvement on the stock screen. I wear a Schuberth C3 and tested at speeds up to 160 kmh. The clear screen looks great and fits in well with the looks of the bike. Again thank you for a top quality review. May all your rides make you happy!
Thank you for this informative video. I love the GS, but the stock screen is woeful. Have looked at a lot of screens, and on the strength of this video just ordered the ergo 2 marathon, as a package with the support bracket. Will report back when tested. P.S.: Full marks for the trusty camera man, sharp images and good views of the installation details.
Thanks for the kind words Kurt. Glad the video helped. And the screen is brilliant. Kinda what the stock screen should have been really. Would be good to hear your findings. Ride safe :)
Hey Toby I installed mine today, however, my stabilizer brackets are different. I got a left and right Wunderlich stabilizer. My instructions for the brackets were from Germany and missing steps 5-7 out of 10 steps 🤷♂️. So i guessed along my install but it turned out great. Big improvement with wind and noise over stock
Thanks for the video. Very helpful. Couple of tips having just fitted a similar screen myself: 1. Remove the screen then fit the bracing bracket as shown 2. Remove black plastic faring first to give clear access to satnav retention bolts. Comes off easy with two screws.
Really helpful video! Many hanks to the cameraman following the action so well ... really helped a lot. I installed the same wunderlich screen on my new GS, but used the original ribber isolators that fit quite nicely on the screen as well. The issue was that I did not realise the the rubber o-rings were taped the foil in which I had the screen delivered. I assumed there are no o-rings so automatically saved the originals. In fact the manual says, o-rings or reuse of original rubber seal depends on year of manufacture, but it just does not say which to use with which ... Anyhow, I hope they originals will isolate vibrations enough so that it doesn't crack amidst a tour :-)
+Andrew Tofts hey Andy. Thanks for the kind words. I did over 700 miles this weekend and didn't have to close my visor for most of it. Fab screen. Ride safe :)
Thanks for video. It helped me to decide on buying it. I Couldn't find the link for the Stabliser though. I would like to buy the same type of stabliser. please let me know. thanks
Hey buddy, here is a link to a stabiliser for the screen :) www.nippynormans.com/wunderlich/r1200gs-lc-adventure-2014-on/wunderlich-screen-stabilisers-mark-2-r1200gs-lc-2013-on-2017-onadventure-lcr1250gs-right-side
Lovely video, well done. Not liking the added bracket. I would have designed added reinforcement bars to the left and right windshield brackets mount to the plastic. I do like the black out area, glad they didn't put there logo there. I put a magnet on my wrench to hold the nut.
I had one of these on my Adventure. Health warning! remove it if your going somewhere hot it does its job to well and doesn't go down far enough to allow the air to get to you. Also if you put extensions on your hand guards take them off as well.
Thanks for the tips mate. I find it good. Rode in 39 degrees so far and great there too :) Mind you I do ride with my visor open most of the time. Hahah
Hi, why are you changing back; not happy with it after all ? Am about to buy one, but concerned now if you've changed your thinking on it after a period of time. Is yours part number 42710-501 Marathon, or 42710-201 Marathon II ? Their site is very confusing, and here in West Australia we have no dealer.
Hi again Toby, thanks for the information on the screen. I'm 6'4" (1.93cm). The standard screen on the GS isnt really doing it for me or my pillion. Do you have any feedback from tall riders like myself, on how effective this screen is, or I suppose, are you this tall and are you still happy with the screen. cheers
Hey Russell. I’m 5’11 so can’t say exactly for a taller person but the larger screen has a lot of adjustment and I have it in the lower position and find it works really well. You could also try one of those small screen deflectors from mra or wunderlich as they seem very good and deflecting the last bit of air away. And with the up and back bar risers I have I find the larger screen just right :) Unfortunately it’s a matter of trial and error. Eek!
@@RiderCamTV I know this thread is old .. but just a quick query. I am 5' 11" as well so was wondering if you can see over the screen when it is on the low position ? Cheers
+MegaGavinski cool :) I didn't but thought it was odd but bought if I did for the video I ought to follow the instructions rather than my usual just fit it without looking at them. Heheh
+mg2959 glad you liked the video matey. I got it from nippy Normans. Was originally part of another screen I had tried but they do a separate set. This one may help :) www.nippynormans.com/r1200gs-lc-mark-4-2013-on/wunderlich-screen-brace-r1200gs-lc-r1200-adventure-lc
Just installed the Ergo 2 on my 2017 GS Rallye. I am 6'2" and even in the highest position I get massive buffering...... in mid-low position it is ok, but definitely not a great improvement over the original small rallye screen........ Anybody knows what brand's screen will work better with tall people?
Lovely instructional video! Right now your long title shows up in the sidebar of suggestions, as a negative ad for this screen. "Buffeting" is cut out due to length, so it ends with "NO MORE", meaning this Wunderlich screen must be absolutely awful! And no need to see this, then.
I apologize to rant on your channel but I'm a yank so. This type of design really pisses me off. Here's a company (Wunderlich) that has all the resource to design and prototype something and this is the best they can do. I can think of two designs that would be stronger, better looking and would not ruin BMW beautiful one hand on the fly adjustment knob. First, build in a right angle lip into the edge of windshield to add corrugation. Second, the same thing but with metal. The sad thing is there designers when to collage.
I know what you mean, same with loads of bits of kit, the way things are designed, almost as if each manufacturer designs there kit to be the most important things on the bike... shame BMW don't make a bigger screen and stabiliser.
It doesn't matter how rigid you make the screen. its the adjustable BMW screen bracket that needs bracing. Hence why you can buy the bracket separately as it can be used with any other manufactures screen.
Thanks for putting this video together. It helps out a lot.
+ADVCityGuy no probs buddy. Brilliant screen and glad it's helped :)
I have ordered the shield today and say thank you very much for this very precise video on how to fix it. God bless you.
Glad it helped :)

Will consider

Hey Kurt. That’s brill. Glad you got the same experience as me with the screen. Much better than the stock screen. Ride safe buddy :)
Great Video Toby, just got my R1250GSA Exclusive, loving it and want to fit a taller screen

I fitted to the tinted version to my 1250TE Exclusive and it's a load better than the standard item. Keep up the good work guys!

+MegaGavinski that's brilliant, than you matey :)
The bracing arm now being provided is different to the one shown in the video, but the fitting procedure is just the same. Thanks again.
+MegaGavinski no probs and thanks for the comments.

You’ll be fine with those o-rings I’m sure. It’s a Fab screen :)
Thanks for the kind words and glad it helped.

Hi,
Thank you for this video. Very helpful. I change screen for my R1250GSA very similar, but new one is much better with two mountings.
Wonderful video! It helped me a lot to install the screen.
fab, thanks for the kind words... a great screen indeed... ride safe and happy new year :)
Another good video Toby and Mark; I have the MRA Vario Screen on my GSA which does a very similar job to this one. Cheers, Andy
+Andrew Tofts hey Andy. Thanks for the kind words. I did over 700 miles this weekend and didn't have to close my visor for most of it. Fab screen. Ride safe :)
Thanks. This does help with be soon buying the GSA.
+David McCrum glad it helped David. Really great screen and awesome bike. Ride safe :)
Hi Thanks for the video, I'm 6'2'' would this be tall enough to make a difference?
Good job man...
thanks buddy :)

glad you enjoyed the video. you can get other brackets, but the one that i used was from an older screen so not the most attractive, but functional :)
I've been looking at these! Great video! Thank you for sharing!!
+MAPPED no probs. Best screen I've put on. Tried loads and found this the best :)
+MAPPED glad it helped :) it's a brilliant screen, tried loads and this is the best for me

Does this effect you vision. Are you looking through it or can you see over as to not obscure you line of sightings.
Hi, do you still have the screen on or have you switched back to the original? Are you still happy with it? Do you get and more buffeting?
+fazer john still using the the large screen at the moment but plan to try the stock screen again soon. :)
Hi, why are you changing back; not happy with it after all ?

I also reused the factory fitted O rings. Not sure why you wouldn't use these if the old screen had them.
+MegaGavinski cool :)
I didn't but thought it was odd but bought if I did for the video I ought to follow the instructions rather than my usual just fit it without looking at them. Heheh
Hi its was hard to tell where the cameras was but were you able to see over the screen ok
yes i look over the screen by about 2 inches.. suits me :)
Hello, very useful video thanks. Where did you get the support brace/bracket from please?
+mg2959 glad you liked the video matey. I got it from nippy Normans. Was originally part of another screen I had tried but they do a separate set. This one may help :) www.nippynormans.com/r1200gs-lc-mark-4-2013-on/wunderlich-screen-brace-r1200gs-lc-r1200-adventure-lc

+Kurt Stofferis no probs. Glad it was a help :)
Doe this effect you vision. Are you looking through it or can you see over as to not obscure you line of sightings.
Hi, I can see about 2 inches above so doesn’t obscure my view but drastically reduces the buffering :)
Great video!!!!! Tnx!
No probs matey 👍
Where did you get the sat nav sun shade from ?
+David Archibald the link is in the description straight to it matey. NNormans :)

You should try the Puig touring screen.
Nice video, thinking about getting this screen. How tall are you by the way?
+Attila Varga, Dr. Thanks for the kind words. It's a great screen indeed and is about 503mm tall and 400mm wide so much bigger than the original :)
+Attila Varga, Dr. Lol. Sorry misread. I'm 5,11 tall mate, and it's great for me
RiderCamTV Sorry I meant your height (how tall you are) as a rider, so I could estimate how the screen could work out for me. I'm 5'10".
+Attila Varga, Dr. Sorry mate was my fault. I'm 5'11 and it's a great height for me :)
RiderCamTV No worries, thanks for the info! It should work out fine for my height then. Ride safe!
How tall are you?

+Spirit Biker oh, thanks for that mate. I'll have a look at that :)
Puig touring much cheaper and does a great job too...
+Ian Du Rose I tried so many over the years but this one is just the job for me :)
Eeeek £209 quid from nippy norms. 169 Euros direct from Wunderlicht. Guess where my dosh will go.
+Steve Kennett it's in nippy Normans for £133 matey. :)
+Steve Kennett for the k1600gt that's expensive!!
Oops. Sorry that's for the K1600. £133.00 from Nippy's
+Steve Kennett lol. I just checked. If it had gone up that would have been a shock! :) ride safe matey
