  • A new Michigan law, House Bill No. 4596, signed in May, mandates that manufacturers label wipes as “Do Not Flush” to prevent pipe and treatment plant issues. These wipes have been notorious for causing clogs and costly maintenance, exemplified by a 100-foot fatberg in Macomb County that cost $100,000 to remove.

Flushable or not, I always use the trash can next to the toilet. Toilet paper is safe, wipes since I am unsure of the claims I don't.

Toilet paper litrally falls apart. But wipes do not. They're already wet and are designed to not break apart like toilet paper.

Adding text to a package that nobody reads will definitely remedy this situation.

I was not aware that anybody thougt you could flush flushable wipes.
I know plumbers call them blank checks because if the money they make pulling them back out.
Also, the non flushable ones are thicker and stronger.

The photo you showed, one of the packages said do not flush. That is not a flushable wipe.

To tell you the truth some toilet paper doesn’t break down as fast as it should I know this because frequently, the house that I grew up in the toilet paper would clog the pipes up.

A lot of things are flushable. Bacon grease is flushable but don't do it. Do you know why RV and Camper toilet paper is so expensive? It's because they dissolve in water easily. Idk who the plumber was that endorsed these style wipes but they are an idiot. These wipes are horrible for both septic and sewer systems. If your poops are that bad then you need to take a shower.

Perhaps the municipalities could offer some incentives for folks to have bidets installed in the home. Many can't afford the big cost of getting one of those so they turn to the wipes because they struggle physically so much and even with them are not always clean. I've worked with many who fit this exact scenario and would use a bidet if they could afford one to be put in. I bet the extra cost to the water department would be well worth it in the long run. I even think having a bidet should be a part of the benefits SSDI and other low wage set incomes should receive. It's healthier, and that money can help with necessities that so many are short on.

People actually spend money on flushable wipes?

The worst offender is probably Wet Ones. They are very strong yet thin, and seem flushable but are not. I love them, but I no longer flush them.

Been doing it for over 10 years, and no problems. I use the Equate Flushable Wipes.

I had been flushing my flushable wipes for the same amount of time until this year when I had to have the sewer pipes in the front my house dug up. Thank Goodness for insurance because it would have cost me $1000's of dollars. Now we wrap them in these little scent absorbing bags I found on Amazon and trash them.

A bidet attachment is an inexpensive alternative that works a lot better than those wipes anyway.

Lots of items around your home can be flushed down the toilet, that doesn’t make it a good idea.

Then why is is labeled "flushable" that plumber didn't say much about it. I know there's wipes that say "NOT FLUSHABLE" But still do flush them mostly because of laziness.. and not every paper type breaks down in water. Restaurant napkins and even cheap paper towels. Also most toilet paper doesn't break down as people think. So what now, poop and then go take a shower??? 😂😂😂

Flushing wipes or women's hygienic products (sewer rats are what plumbers that I know call tampons) down the toilet keep plumbers in business! 👍

  • @yt650
    @yt650 Місяць тому +6

If it will fit down the drain of the toilet, it is flushable, but that doesn’t mean you should flush it. It was sold to women primarily as a convenience because they didn’t have to deal with any byproducts or trash, they just dumped it in the toilet and thought that was good, but it’s not..

You guys show one that is flushable vs showing a ton of wipes that aren't. Are they sure the flushables are actually bad? Lmao. If people are flushing tons of non-flushable...you see the issue?
