Sell all your furniture and other things that you don't need and buy brand new when you move into your Parents house. putting things into storage is overrated.
Agreed! It costs so much to haul stuff across the country and to store it. Unless something has special sentimental value, get rid of it. It will be cheaper to buy new. Plus you can buy furniture etc that specifically fits your new home. You will enjoy decorating your new place.
What you said about your family having 15 years left and seeing them twice a year for a total of 30 more times really hit me hard....never thought about it that way.
We moved from SoCal Orange County to Texas, and the uhaul cost was insane. Sell whatever you can and buy new. Way cheaper. Good luck
Love your channel. We currently live in San Diego and have for 6 years. About to start a family and moving back east has been a dreaded outcome for so long, but being near family is important to us as well. End of an era but so grateful for our time here!
I love this for you! This sounds like a great decision. I was born & raised in San Diego, and we ended up moving an hour north to Menifee in 2022. Our reasons for staying reasonably local had a lot to do with family proximity, but we just couldn’t cut it in San Diego proper.
The amount of house you’ll be able to get out there will be amazing, and you can’t beat raising your kids around people you love. I lost my mom in 2019 when my kids were 4 & 10. I feel so grateful for all the time they got with her. You just never know. ❤

So happy for you guys! We moved back to southeast Missouri after being away for 6 years. It’s so nice being able to hop in the car and visit family and absolutely take advantage of date nights!

Very excited for your move! Colorado savings for Kansas prices will get you VERY far in the housing market when you move. $190K is WELL over 20% down on a 3bed+2office+3ba house. In some parts, you'd be able to purchase a decent 3bed+2ba home outright in cash with that amount. That's amazing!

How exciting! As someone who was born and raised in Southern California, I really did resonate with all the cons against it. That being said, I stay here primarily because this is where my family is. Family is so important. I'm excited to follow you along on this new chapter!
OH! and as you look into homes,I know its exciting to find these affordable huge homes, keep in mind that it is more space that you will have to clean, furnish, heat or cool. So larger is not always better.

I'll move back to my hometown in fall and my reasons are the same. I have no kids but five nieces and nephews, my parents are aging and I still have two gradparents - who knows for how long. I am very happy for you guys!

Being from Colorado, you made the right choice! I almost moved to Kansas City but ended up in north west Arkansas instead. We were able to get a brand new build for about half of what it would have cost in Colorado and I have no regrets about moving here. Congrats on your new adventure 😊

Are you only pursuing existing home to buy? Have you also considered buying a new home build in a subdivision developing. Have you ever covered existed home buy vs new home buy as part of your channel? We bought a new home build back in 2017

After living in Denver for eight years I moved to Kansas City six months ago. My quality of life has improved drastically - I can afford my own apartment. Everything is cheaper - gas/food/insurance... I miss the mountains but I had very little opportunity to enjoy them because I was always working now I go visit.
Being able to afford an apartment isn't great living either. Baby Boomers and the Silent Generation were buying a house on one income job that was barely above minimum wage and having 6-10 kids. Minimum wage in California in 1945 was .45 cents an hour. A house in Los Angeles, San Francisco or San Diego in 1945 cost around $4,300. People on minimum wage in 1945 were earning around $900 a year. That's about a 5-1 ratio of housing cost to minimum wage in 1945. Today that would be people making $100 an hour which comes out to $208,000 a year because a house in LA, San Francisco, and San Diego cost $100,000,000. People need to make $208,000 a year to get to a 5-1 ratio today. Think about that. People today are fighting over dog scraps.

LA is expensive and overcrowded and I don’t go to the beach enough to make that a worthwhile trade off. Can’t wait to leave the state in a few years. You are doing the best thing for your family by moving to a nice Midwest city. You won’t regret it!

Also the U-Haul thing is crazy. I knew of one family moving out of state that drove from San Diego to Arizona just to pick up a U-Haul to bring back to move because it was so much cheaper than getting one in CA.

Hi. My wife and I are from SoCal Orange County and moved to Texas in April 2021. We hated it so much! It's not cheap. The people suck and taxes are out of control. My wife cried for 2 years. We now live in Tennessee and are very happy. Everyone we met in Texas who moved from California hates it. Food for thought.
@@thomasmillercnbI’ve lived in Texas before and hated it to be honest, but my family is there and it’s the best way I can pay off student loans in a small timeframe. I’ll only be there temporarily then move elsewhere. I heard Tennessee is great!
We live in San Diego county, and so many other young families are leaving because it's just so unaffordable. We'll be staying because our families are here. And we got in on the housing market in 2019 so we can afford it. But I totally get why others are leaving.
This is awesome. Y'all are gonna be able to afford a mansion. Well done!!! Colorados housing market is nutty, this is the best thing yall could have done. Definitely rethink putting down so much. It will barely move the needle on payment and you're gonna be shocked how much shit you need to buy when you have a house. Just bought in Feb and put down 5% after considering 10% or more. Best decision ever.
