Fun fact, the last recorded speakers of a Gothic language (Crimean Gothic) weren't ethnic Goths but a few Crimean Tatars in the 18th century
You mean the Russians and the Caucasus, the Turks were killed in the Khazar kingdom
@@user-cg2tw8pw7j good, mongol turk pushed back
@@myhonorwasloyalty The Turk Khazar Jews went to Europe
Because Tatars came later and mixed with the earlier Goths. So autosomally mixed by the 18th century. Goths are not Tatars. Its how you interpret the data correctly that's important and time frames should count. Tatars and Goths are NOT the same timeline.
Their ancestors were ostrogoths
You see that place in Spain with no visigoths? That is the suebic kingdom, first of the gothic kingdoms inside of the roman empire and considered by some the first oficial feudal kingdom. Should have been mentioned. Huuuuge influential legacy in Galicia-Northern Portugal, half of town names have suevic origins and a lot of surnames in this are still suevic in origins. They even imported a new kind of cristianism (Arrianism) witch lasted in this area for centuries.
The Visigoths were also Arians. Most of the people in that region were Catholic of Roman influence. Only the Germanic leaders were Arian. Same with Visigothic Spain. The whole of Hispania was Catholic by the time of the Muslim invasion.
Thank you for another good video ⚔️
I live in "västra götaland" west of sweden, Gothenburg. To our east there is "Östra götaland", Stockholm.
We are called västgötar and they are called östgötar.
Read the history of goth by iordanes ... Goth aren t german or scandinavian
Search about amalian dynasti
They are Scandinavian 100%
@@zyraxesdac7583 okey, will check it out some time
The Goths originate from Sweden. Before Sweden became one nation it was 2 tribes: Swedes inhabiting Uppland which is around Uppsala/Stockholm area and Goths inhabiting Västra Götaland and Östra Götaland and island of Gotland.
Iordanes the goth historian don t have nice depiction about german and scandinavian , he insist about that the gothai was in fact the gethai ,,non dubitem,,

Beautiful artwork is presented in the video.
Germanic peoples have the most powerful history among European peoples
Debatable if you count Latin speaking ethnic groups as a common people

Which Germanic Empire was more influential, stronger and long lasting than the Roman Empire? A legitimate question I’m trying to figure out.

My "DNA" is Germanic ... Grandfather said:"We are "Goths" ... Greetings from Bosnia
I'm too, my ancestors are goth kings
they came from Scandinavia to the pommeranian region of the Vistula Delta and then migrated further to what's now Ukraine and Southwestern Russia......then to the Balkans and austrian regions before settling down in Italy, parts of France and the Iberian Peninsula.....and a few traveled apparently back to Scandinavia after all of this....
Have they been settling down to germany, austria, switzerlnd area aswell? Or did they went straight from scandinavia eastwards?

The term "Gothic" was coined by a classical-loving Italian cleric in the late twelfth century as the worst insult he could think of for the pointed arches invented by the French at St-Denis, near Paris.
Theodoric once said:
"Utilis Gothicus imitator Romanum" - "It is proper for a Goth to imitate Roman things"
My ancient dna said Ostrogoth, Denmark, Sweden, and Poland
As for Rome, it would see that diversity was not their strength.

You forgot the Angels, Saxons, Jutes, and Frisians.
The Lombards Germanic (around modern day Hamburg and the Elbe upper-river) tribes were the cousins to the Saxons to the south of the Elbe and Frisians to the South West/North Sea towards of the Elbe, and cousins to the Agile (modern day Schleswig-Holstein Germany), and Jutes to the north (modern day Denmark).
The Angles are descendants from the Israelite tribe of Ephraim, the Saxons are more generically named from "Isaac's sons," the Jutes are from the tribe of Judah, the Goths are from the tribe of Gad, the Lombards are likely from the tribe of Simeon, the Danes are from Dan, and the Franks are largely Rueben.
@@robtrindade9087 Can’t be. Germanic tribes don’t have any genetic connection to Western Asia.

Gog and Magog nations!
Do you have any proof the Goths looked like bodybuilders? Your intro picture looks like the video game RASTAN.
We can look at their indents on their skeletons to see that they were very strong and athletic but they probably weren't hulking. Roman historians described them as tall, lean and athletic. One Roman historian went as far as to say they looked like wasps. Pinch at the waist. Whereas the italic people usually had a gut from too much wine drinking.
The Goths failed to defeat the Huns guess nobody made men out of them
You no the romans and some germanic tribes formed a coalition and beat back the huns
Yes I do you know this was a joke
What? The Germanics annihilated the Huns in the battle of Nedao. The Huns literally completely disappeared from the world
Thorismund at the Catalonia plains: fine, I guess I'll do it myself.

They had multi hair colors like all Europeans do not just dark hair.

I believe all the Germanic languages go back to Old Norse.
They are cousins. Humans didn't evolve from chimps but we had a common ancestor. Same with Germanic and Norse languages.
They originated near the Caucasus on the borders of the old Assyrian empire and were wandering around the same time Israel was taken captivity by the Assyrians. The Goths and other Celtic-Germanic peoples are the lost tribes of Israel. This explains why they were so mighty on the battlefield as Israel was a world power under David and Solomon and aligned with the Phoenician empire. They were originally called the "Scythians" or "Cimmerians." Large groups of Germanic-Celts migrating from "unknown" origin and they just happen to be extremely powerful people that history somehow missed their origins?
