Catholics argue with me all the time that if it were not for the Catholic church putting the bible together in 325 A.D., we would not have the bible today. I remind them that God can use anyone to bring the bible together but that does not make them the authority of the Bible - only God is the authority of the Bible. Also remind them that the bible is made up of letters from prophets and the new Testament from letters and writings from Jesus' disciples. Therefore the bible already existed before the councils.

If any of them where, all he had to say was; "Thus saith the Lord". and that's that. Peter did not have a discussion with his fellow apostles. When he had the vision on the rooftop, that was it. No ifs, ands or buts. What makes anything about the council is that it was a Catholic group, and yet all the Protestants that broke away from the Catholic church refer to it as authoritative. How can the break from the Catholic Church with accusations of heresy, yet still accept its doctrines?

I mistakenly believed the Council of Nicaea canonized the Bible, but no that is not correct. There is also no discernable "tone" that tells you that the Scriptures are inspired. It was the church *as an institution* that decided on an canonized the Bible. It was this magisterium that declared the Bible as the Bible. The title "Catholic" for this institution started being used around 110 AD, around the time of the compiling of the Scriptures by the early Christians. The name of the game in those times was oral tradition. The stories, accounts, testimonies, correct interpretations, and traditions of the early Christians were passed down *verbally.* Just as Paul wrote himself, "We must honor what has been written AND what is said." Long story short: it is thanks to the explicitly Catholic Church of the earliest centuries that we have the Bible. It has existed as an institution for 2000 years now. As well, the Council of Nicaea was a real council, a council of bishops, a uniquely Catholic position. They made the Nicene Creed that many Protestants still recite.
Mr. Friel keeps alluding to the testimony of the historic Church concerning the "canon" of the New Testament but does he listen to the same Church history on how we should understand the New Testament? He seems to put out maximum effort to elevate the Bible over the Church. Jesus never said, "On this rock I will build the Scriptures," no, "On this rock I will build My Church." I just don't get why KJV only Christians cling to the version that was commissioned by King James II and was the official Bible of the Church of England when they are typically descended from groups that didn't exactly experience benevolence from the Church of England.

Hi. I'm an ex-Lutheran turning Catholic. I just had a class today talking about the compilation of the Bible as we know it.
I mistakenly believed the Council of Nicaea canonized the Bible, but no that is not correct. There is also no discernable "tone" that tells you that the Scriptures are inspired. It was the church *as an institution* that decided on an canonized the Bible. It was this magisterium that declared the Bible as the Bible. The title "Catholic" for this institution started being used around 110 AD, around the time of the compiling of the Scriptures by the early Christians.
The name of the game in those times was oral tradition. The stories, accounts, testimonies, correct interpretations, and traditions of the early Christians were passed down *verbally.* Just as Paul wrote himself, "We must honor what has been written AND what is said."
Long story short: it is thanks to the explicitly Catholic Church of the earliest centuries that we have the Bible. It has existed as an institution for 2000 years now. As well, the Council of Nicaea was a real council, a council of bishops, a uniquely Catholic position. They made the Nicene Creed that many Protestants still recite.

Mr. Friel keeps alluding to the testimony of the historic Church concerning the "canon" of the New Testament but does he listen to the same Church history on how we should understand the New Testament? He seems to put out maximum effort to elevate the Bible over the Church. Jesus never said, "On this rock I will build the Scriptures," no, "On this rock I will build My Church." Even the New Testament book of 1 Timothy asserts that the Church is "the pillar and foundation of the truth" (1 Timothy 3:15), not the Scriptures. The Bible exists within the Church and is not a book over the Church or for others to use to attack the Church.
You are right no one fokus on how many the Christian God killed compared to how many Satan killed in the Bibel... Who is the worst of those two?

Can you Biblically prove “Continuationism” over “Cessationism”?
Continuationism is the reason why we have crazy doctrines and false gospels in the Christian community today.
And I hope you know that “Cessationism” is not saying that all spiritual gifts have ceased, but specifies “miraculous gifts”.
This does not mean God cannot give miracles today; God is almighty and sovereign. It simply means that He does not often give it through human channels, like he did in three eras of the miraculous, in the Bible-Moses/Joshua, Elijah/Elisha and Jesus/Apostles.
And of course YOU cannot prove Biblically the things that u just asserted....as some of your own Cessationists have admitted ...But certainly Hebrews 13:8 completely blows away any idea of Cessationism...and in 1 Corinthians chap 1 "so that you are not lacking in any gift, eagerly awaiting the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will also confirm you to the end, beyond reproach in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ"...from your own LSB Bible...any gift, it says, all the way to the end, the day of Lord Jesus, NOT just until about the year 100 AD...! ...and many things in the Bible make no sense at all if it was just for that time, with an expiration date...according to u , on much of Scripture...but the Word itself never says any such a thing. Instead, Pray with me that God Yahweh Jesus will pour out his holy Spirit just like on the day of Pentecost...! This country really needs it! And it says "but this is what was spoken through the prophet Joel:
‘And it shall be in the last days,’ God says,
