When they're in it for the religion only, I have noticed, they'll go for Catholicism. True born again Christians like yourself, know there's a huge difference between the two.
I feel sorry for the Christian that have listen to Satan and not Jesus; Satan has the Christians believing, that at death they go to heaven, Jesus taught His disciples that HE (Jesus) was the only one that went to heaven; "If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things? And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven." John 3:12-13

There were other books they left out that also spoke of the messiah and that were referenced in the Bible, like how the book of Jude referenced 1 Enoch. Why did they leave those out though? I believe that the Bible is God’s inspired word, but what of the other books that also go along with the Bible as well?
Because the Book of 1 Enoch we have now is not the Original Book of 1 Enoch, even if there ever was an Original Book of 1 Enoch, which I very much doubt! God had nothing to do with it! In fact, 1 Enoch was Denounced as Heretical by the Early Church! as Recorded in the Second Century by Saint Irenaeus of Lyon, who Denounced 1 Enoch, along with Multiple other Forgeries such as Thomas, Judas, and Barnabas (that third one created by Early Muslims to Discredit Christianity, but Thomas and Judas are Gnostic, although Islam spawned from Egyptian Gnosticism) , in "Against Heresies", and we need to Remember that Saint Irenaeus knew what he was Writing about, as he was the Disciple of Saint Polycarp of Smyrna, who was the Disciple of Saint John the Divine Apostle, who was the Disciple that Jesus Loved! the Writer of the Gospel of John, 1, 2 and 3 John, and Revelation! The Original Book, even if there Ever was one! which I doubt! is long lost, and why? because, even if there was an Original Book, it was never canonical! all 66 Canon Books are Preserved, Anything that was not Preserved was never Canonical, because it was not Inspired by God! the Fact it was Not Preserved, can mean only one of Two things, One is that it Never Even Existed! which is the View I hold to, or Two, there was a Book of 1 Enoch, but it was not Inspired by God and it was lost in the Flood. Either way, Saint Jude Referenced the Man, Enoch, and would never, ever, Reference something as Utterly Blasphemous, Heretical, and Uninspired as the Forged, Gnostic, Trash known today as 1 Enoch! Stick to the Canonical 66! Sola Scriptura!
Jude does not mention the Enoch book. The "Enoch" Jude speaks of is NOT the one from Genesis. Look at the genealogy. He was clearly NOT the 7th from Adam. Matter of fact, the "Adam" Jude is talking about is Christ, the spiritual Adam. That is what the "Enoch book should be canon" crowd fails to understand.
Paul referenced pagan poets when speaking to the Greeks. That didn't elevate that particular poem to the status of scripture. He just pointed out one single reference where the poet got it right. Book of Enoch is a different subject. Jude doesn't reference the book...he references Enoch and we're not told the source. My understanding is that the Books of Enoch were postdated and crafted around this Biblical reference.
Catholics argue with me all the time that if it were not for the Catholic church putting the bible together in 325 A.D., we would not have the bible today. I remind them that God can use anyone to bring the bible together but that does not make them the authority of the Bible - only God is the authority of the Bible. Also remind them that the bible is made up of letters from prophets and the new Testament from letters and writings from Jesus' disciples. Therefore the bible already existed before the councils.

Hi. I'm an ex-Lutheran turning Catholic. I just had a class today talking about the compilation of the Bible as we know it. I mistakenly believed the Council of Nicaea canonized the Bible, but no that is not correct. There is also no discernable "tone" that tells you that the Scriptures are inspired. It was the church *as an institution* that decided on an canonized the Bible. It was this magisterium that declared the Bible as the Bible. The title "Catholic" for this institution started being used around 110 AD, around the time of the compiling of the Scriptures by the early Christians. The name of the game in those times was oral tradition. The stories, accounts, testimonies, correct interpretations, and traditions of the early Christians were passed down *verbally.* Just as Paul wrote himself, "We must honor what has been written AND what is said." Long story short: it is thanks to the explicitly Catholic Church of the earliest centuries that we have the Bible. It has existed as an institution for 2000 years now. As well, the Council of Nicaea was a real council, a council of bishops, a uniquely Catholic position. They made the Nicene Creed that many Protestants still recite.
