Just did this tonight and I had a midgrade Fram TG9999 (China) and an STP S9999 (Korea) and I wound up putting in the STP. Even though the Fram claimed 99% filtration efficiency vs the STP's 93% the STP looked better constructed in the media with even pleats and no sign of a glued seam, the exact opposite of the Fram. I think I chose the Fram because last time I used the Ultra Synthetic, their top filter for this car, and it held up great. Like the pros say "spend the extra 4 bucks on a better filter instead of thousands for a new engine." I may even pop over to Hyundai before the next oil change to see what the OEM looks like compared to STP and Fram Ultra. The only thing I'd add is I heard somewhere that it's best to remove the oil filler cap and the filter AND then drain the oil. Something about a more efficient drain with less vacuum. Thanks
I really dislike the plastic oil filter cap on these Hyundai engines. They will start to leak after 8-10 years. A metal cap would probably last the life of the vehicle.

Purchase the tool to make sure the filter is tight. Hand tight isn't enough.

When I bought a filter for my 2007 Sonata (6cyl), it had two rubber rings AND a metal washer. What's the washer for?
Metal washer is for the drain plug. It is supposed to be replaced each time.
I have no idea. I've only ever used the two rubber rings (mostly :). Sometimes it pays to read the directions.
