this is asexual propagation of plants, so the results are the same as the parent tree not another variety

Air layering gives faster and quicker fruits - not root grafting, as in case of root grafting, the main root which you used here for grating is a WEAKER ROOT, it needs min 4-5 years time to generate fruit. i always prefer air layering, though its life span is weak, but fruits ll b faster
