I said this once and i will continue to say this. The amount of detail in this docu-series is second to none. I feel like Im 16 again in the AOL Nascar chat rooms looking for the latest scoops. Well done again Mr Brock. Hats off to you and I cannot wait for the 2001 Pepsi 400 episode.
Thank you for the N4 shout-out at 4:47. Everyone makes a big deal about NR2003 in the sim racing community, but it was N4 was the template for it. Wasted gobs of hours in 01 and 02 playing N4.
I started going to TMS when I was around 3 or so (so around 1999), and we had season tickets from 2005 to 2008. It was crazy how packed the stands were back then. Really sad to see what’s happened to it, especially seeing it completely dropped from the IndyCar schedule. Love your videos!
That out of bounds bit with the 08 dega finish playing in the background was cold 😂 I love this series! Some of the best docuseries ever made and it's on UA-cam! Great job I love watching these old races so many stories I never heard when I was little and this was happening
I was in a group of infield fans at TMS. We had a few spots up against the fence between turns 1&2. We had these spots for over 20 years. We had a blast. But unfortunately, my race buddies have passed away. I enjoyed the racing. But I really went for the socializing. We had a school bus with a platform the entire length of the bus. We had such a great view that spotters asked to join us. We met so many drivers that came to visit us and the bus. I guess nothing lasts forever. We were blessed. May all my friends RIP. If there is racing in Heaven. I know they are there. Nice video. Thanks
5:30 I remember when they renamed the park. I didn't go to the ceremony, but it was on the news. It was refreshing to hear anything about the Labontes on Corpus Christi news.
For all the English people: Jorge Koechlin was a long-time renowned Peruvian racing commentator and analyst for ESPN and Fox/Speed. Today he has his own Automundo magazine, and he was a racing driver in several feeder series in England and Europe.
I'll never forget how Teresa Earnhardt was crying while she was hugging Dale Earnhardt before he got into the car that final race at Daytona, it looked like she knew she would never see him alive again...imo Great video once again Brock!
This is a touch of nostalgia I needed. Glory days of TMS and NASCAR. Before the phantom yellows plagued every race. Before stages ruined every race. Before the Playoffs. When it was real racing.
Look at all these epic future throwbacks! And that's going for both series! The 2000's really were the greatest era of NASCAR. And NASCAR was the sport of the 2000's.
The CART disaster later that year at the same track was the beginning of the end of that series yes I know this is about NASCAR but since today's video is about the Texas races I thought it would bring it up.
@bsmotorsport1449 I'm aware of that but my point was because of the speeds at the track it ultimately was the start of CART's end. I only said it took place at the same track but after NASCAR left.
God this series is so good, literally got excited towards the end of the Cup race even though I knew how it ended lol. Very in depth as well. So well done
2001 was when i got into the sport at 10 years old. It's super nostalgic for me to rewatch this and honestly the racing is arguably the best in series history. Sign me up for every future episode!
The goat delivers on quality videos that I can watch the full way and just watching this makes me feel sad to know how the track is now the absolute worst track on the schedule when back in the 2000s and early 2010s it was a decent track that can put on good racing with multi Grove racing wish we can go back to the good old days
Why the prodigal son has returned! Missed ya Brock! This has been nice to binge watch and learn all the stuff I missed as a kid in this era that I know now as an adult! Also kudos to you for mentioning NR4 at 4:53 considering I prefer that and NR2002 over NR2003. Can’t wait to see the rest of the Episodes!
We would go to just qualifying at Texas from 2000-2003, when it was free. Back then, qualifying crowd on Friday was as big as the Sunday race crowd now. And that Jeff Burton Gain Busch car is the brightest car I've ever seen.
Brock you are a fucking gem! Love the videos and I remember 2001 and 2002 very well. This brings so many great memories and conversations and controversies. NASCAR just doesn’t get how to show their Great sport anymore. Keep making these awesome videos the fans and new fans will appreciate these because I sure do!🤙🏻
Time flies. I can't believe it's almost a quarter of a century after the fact ... The sport used to be so good. Life was a lot better ( and cheaper!) while I do enjoy UA-cam, I'd trade all I have and ever will have to go back to pre "social" media and "smart" phone society. All sports have suffered and are on the decline in every aspect. These a great pieces Brock. They make me happy but depressed at same time haha. Glad I was around for these days and the golden years of major league stock car racing. What a ride ...
As an attendee of both a half attended Texas race, and the Indy 500, I can say unequivocally the 'fan with a vehicle' exit time of a Texas race is the worst in America.
I was at the most attended cup race the 05 dickies 500, 216,000 people there. Back in the early 2000’s Texas motor you had to basically run out to parking before the race was over or be stuck there for hours even then you’d be stuck 2-3 hours trying to leave. Races always sucked super hot day and night races but I’ll never forget those screaming 900 horses going up to 200mph into turn one
@ no I’m not unfortunately, I thought it was uploaded on Monday and then it was gone the next day. I’m not sure if it maybe got uploaded by someone else and taken down shortly after?
So I know he's had some struggles up until this point but... Was Steve Park, at this point, secretly better (and DEI as well) then thought of then, or even when we think back now? Or is this me being bias?
@@Avelyn_BandI see - you mean at 11:07 correct? The three states with a fatal wreck investigation protocol were Connecticut, New Jersey, and New Hampshire. Of those three, only New Hampshire had a NASCAR date at the time. Pocono is in Pennsylvania.
Earnhardts seat belt was cut after the paramedics removed Earnhardt one paramedic was about to cut the belts but was told not to by his partner so someone cut it after that. Tge police should have been involved but nascar gonna do what it wants to keep the truth from coming out.
I can see the confusion. Bob Labonte was Terry and Bobby's father. Dedicated it to him and Eddie Gossage since this is about Texas. I do have things in the works involving Bobby Allison as well so stay tuned!
When we needed him most, he returns.
I said this once and i will continue to say this.

Well done again Mr Brock.

Cup race and WrestleMania X-Seven on the same day, April 1st must've been a vibe in Texas
NASCAR and wrestlemania. Christmas in Texas.

1:09:10 that is such a wild statement from Tony there.
"Babe, wake up. Another part released and we're late."
"But it only came out 5 hours ago."
"Exactly. Get the popcorn!"
Wake up and realize how unfunny "babe wake up" is
I LOL when the DW comment of “ there is no out of bounds in this sport “ with THAT race at Talladega in 08 spliced in .
He kind of set that up perfectly. Hindsight is one of the best parts of this series.
Funny thing the Talladega Cup race in 2001 was when the rule debuted.
Can't wait for that in the 500 days series to see the most controversial rule debut in 2001
These are straight up professional documentaries. The nostalgia induced is awesome. Well done. Very well done, as usual.

44:53 that’s a brutal last name to have growing up.
The amount of detail in the videos is incredible. Like I said at Kansas Speedway in the media area, you are a national tresure my friend.
Thank you - that's very kind of you! And it was a pleasure to meet you as well. Will have to do Kansas again sometime.
The best series on UA-cam is back🤝
Working on my own history project for Nascar from 1949 onwards, this sort of content is incredible. Thank you, Brock!

He also raced once in IndyCar, for Dick Simon at Laguna Seca in 1983.
He also called CART in the 90s and early 2000s
These are always worth the wait. Quality over quantity. Well done again, Brock.
Thank you! They do take time but hopefully that gets easier.
This is comfort food for the soul

If they proposed swapping Darlington for Texas today there would be a riot.
