It's strange to see you in the USA... and me in Thailand now. Who would have thought? I hope you can get back here, I think your heart is still over here.

Just make sure while walking you always keep aware of your surroundings as this country is not nearly as safe as Thailand. I felt far safer walking in Bangkok at 3 am than walking at 3 pm in any large American city. Yes, I had near incidents in the past in my city which I managed to avoid because I was alert to my surroundings. Consider yourself fortunate you do NOT have a car.....drivers today in this country during and after Covid appear to be angrier than ever

    Hi Jeremy,
It is good to know that things are beginning to open up for you there. Your talk on your current state of affairs is very positive. It sounds like your paths have cleared and you are ready for the next journey. It is good to know that you are doing well. If not for our valleys then our walk to the mountain tops wouldn’t be nearly as much fun. Hang Tough Buddy!

There is a guy here in town that was down on his luck for a while, about 6 years. He walked to work that was 4 miles away everyday. Even in the snowy winter he was out there walking. The newspaper referred to him as "The Walking Man." The article spurred a GoFundMe page that raised $6500 from the locals for a used car for him. He graciously accepted the money but donated $5000 to the food bank and bought a Fat Tire bike with a set of studded tires for the winter and saddle bags for clothes to change into when he arrived. His comment for the newspaper, "I want to remain humble."

I walked 80 miles in 11 days on my vacation to Mexico and I never felt better at the end of that vacation. I think the more you walk the better you will feel

For the 6 months I am back in the states working, I moved closer to work so I can walk if weather permits. Yes it costs more and the place is small, but makes personal life and time better.

    Hey JC,
Don’t wait for the right answer and the golden path to present themselves. Starting without seeing the end is difficult, so we often wait until we see the end, scanning relentlessly for the right way, the best way and the perfect way. The way to get unstuck is to start now and
to take it Step by step, page by page, interaction by interaction. As you start moving, you can’t help but improve, can’t help but incrementally find yourself getting back toward your North Star. You might not end up with perfect, but it’s significantly more valuable than being stuck.
Don’t just start. Continue to be smart and repeat.

Hi Jeremy. Thanks for the update. It appears that you are doing well and adjusting to a different way of life in your new environment. That is great! I would be interested in learning what you are reading if you wish to share some titles. When I walk, which is not often enough, I find it clears my head and helps me relax. Keep in touch and stay safe.

Hi Sean. I’m currently reading “The Daily Stoic” by Ryan Holiday, and “The Complete Works of Florence Shinn.” They have had a huge impact on the way I think. Thanks for the comment.

Actually I have enjoyed not having a car and just walking everywhere. I find it more relaxing and feel like I am seeing more of Bangkok and taking more notice of everything around me. On on insurance with surgery at least the insurance company agreed to meet my expenses and just waiting on a refund, but I was using a French insurance company and not a Thai one.

@@JeremyClodfelter Yes and I think it improves your cardio alot more then other climates because of the high humidity. But just nice to go exploring on foot sometimes.

Good for you! Walking is the best. Lowers your blood pressure, improves your cardiovascular health. I used to see the guys in Pattaya that use a scooter to go three blocks get fatter and fatter.

Hi look looked at your vlog you mentioned "how humbling it is for you" to walk to work about 4/5 times without mentioning the health benefits how physical exercise is good for the mind and body so I guess you were never a guy for physical exercise before this or else this would be a stand out benefit to your present predicament?

    • @JeremyClodfelter

I assume people have enough common sense to understand the physical benefits of walking. 👍🏻
