Those thumbs down must have been from folks trying to hit the thumbs up but couldn't see through all their tears and hit the wrong button. It's okay. We miss Gord, too.
The first line of this song is a reference to Gord's view from the front step from the house he owned in Prince Edward County. The inside of the CD cover is full of pics from that house. I had the pleasure of going to concerts with thousands of other fans, but also got to stand in line behind him at Picton's Sobeys grocery store where he could shop without anyone bothering him. He was a musical titan, and yet humble enough to be one of us. Epically missed
That view across Erie is Fermi in Monroe MI. Been there with my gravel train many times. Either there or Rockwood pit 1 mile away. But driving past on the south route. Is Prince Island right across from there?
We had a morning moon the last couple of days after the Harvest Moon. Singing this as the tires of my bike are crunching over the dried up leaves on the road.
As a Kingston boy living in Calgary, this song is pure nostalgia for me. I can picture myself in Bath or Amherstview staring out over the lake at the smoke stacks. I wonder if hes referencing the LaFarge plant out that way, or the CoGen steam power station. Either way, absolutely love it.
I was there, and man it was awesome, tonight I see them again in Vancouver, for the last tour ever. these boys gave me my career, and I will pay my respects by rocking out for 4 shows on this last tour including KINGSTON ONT
Ummmn they are not capable of making a bad song. I am from the states and have seen them roughly 20 times. Best band I've seen live and I love that the Stereophonics love them too. They even have a song called Violins and Tambourines. Love when bands respect each other!
Arun Naik I don't think the song you're thinking is violins and tambourines. I could be wrong but I'm thinking you're thinking of the song unplucked gems. if I'm wrong it's OK. I'm kinda dumb and so are you 😉
ua-cam.com/video/WEFFFgz4skA/v-deo.html Same cadence in the chorus of both songs...great find, had not heard their song! They do that amazing cover of Fiddler's Green too...
First heard this great cut on CBC radio...instantly knew it was a gem...went straight out and bought the CD! Long live the Hip ! Easily one of Canada's greatest treasures !
@sledhead7969 lol yeah I have a few favourites and that’s based on listening to every one of their albums 300 million times each + seeing them live multiple times, front row seats too ;) I’ve heard almost ALL their music that’s available. Even the stuff before The Tragically Hip EP. The Copper Penny Restaurant 1985. Try to find that, I dare ya :P you want original hip? That’s it. If She’s Seventeen is my personal fav from that setlist. Does it bother you that I have a favourite from it? :)
Gord expressed such love for his audience in such a sublime way

Ominous foreshadowing, video for Gift Shop, Twin Towers pic and word terrorists in the same moment.

Yeah, Spring Time in Vienna is Gord's favourite song of theirs.

It's a tie for their second best song. :P
