  • My name is Jake Schogler - I make lures!
In this video I show you all the steps you need to make a weight shift makerel glidebait / stickbait.
I used some ideas from the previous build and put this together. Interesting concept and a great action. Could have been neater with the foiling though!
One things for sure, I can catch fish with it!
As always I love to hear your thoughts so please let me know in the comments.
    Materials used
    5.mm thickness balsa sheet
1mm stainless steel wire ( stiff)
    1x 4 gram dropshot weights.
3x 1g stainless steel ball bearing
    Medium thickness super glue
    Posca pen- black
    Lots of paint
    Self adhesive aluminium foil

Another great build. I like the fact you left in the part when some of your paint lifted. It happens. People watching your videos to learn, need to see this and realize that it's okay and happens to everyone. 🇨🇦

@@JakeSchogler well, thank you for letting me know...
      Here they go:
1- bringing up any new lure design idea into a sketch would be very helpful before commencing any project. Buoyancy considerations/calculations , wire form design, weight (both fixed and shifting) locations ...
2- encapsulation of shifting weight ball bearings could facilitate easy and fool-proof assembly. Drinking straws are a very good choice for encapsulation purposes, cheap, available and cones in different sizes. Tiny magnets can be used for steal bbs .
3- thread wrapping and super glueing wire ends and mid-hanger would make it way robust.
4- a narrower blade would follow the curvature easier and smoother.
From one lure maker to another.....
      Keep up the great job!

@@kamarteLove it! Thankyou for all these suggestions 😃👍. I am often an impulsive builder, I see the finished thing in my head and just go for it. Some builds ( and they are coming ) I plan very much before hand especially when making more than one. I have played with drinking straws for a weight shift, I think that would have helped this build a bit! I agree about the thread wrapping the harness, ill prob do that in the next build 👍. Narrower blade sounds interesting I guess it flexes? I will grab one and try it! Thanks so much for commenting and the useful tips!🙏😃

@@JakeSchogler no worries, glad that you liked them.
Making things ( like lures in this case) by impulse is perhaps the artistic side of a builder... we've all done that at times perhaps for single or few ones...but for mass production and creating a very special one with predefined characteristics, we definitely need a blueprint. Anyway, waiting for your next projects!

Hvala, ker ste si ogledali še en video! Odlična ideja z utrjevanjem kanala z lepilom. Mislil sem, da bo tako kot je prešibak. izgleda pa dovolj lepo! Spil bom pivo in razmišljal o tem lol. Na zdravje!
