Taking on The Alps with a budget rental bike

Who says you need a $20,000 rental bike to cycle up mountains whilst on holiday? I picked up the Rouge Lapierre bike from Annecy - an aluminium bike with all the bells and no whistles. I cycled up a mountain in France, and it was absolutely fantastic.
The Tiagra disc breaks performed brilliantly, the Tiagra drivetrain shifted smoothly and she was a sturdy, steady steed. Cycling in the Alps is a dream come true and I'd kind of imagined doing it on a carbon Cannondale Supersix or a Pinarello Dogma. Once I'd released my biases and preconceptions about the Alu bike, I couldn't have cared any less!
This was one of the rides of my life and I hope this video inspires others to jump on a bike in Europe or wherever they may be in the world.
