I've been in Chorley my whole life and it's easy to forget how much the landscape has changed until you see footage and photos from years back. So many buildings with character disappeared and road systems that have been augmented into roundabouts and weird one-way systems. The town is unrecognisable from what I grew up with. Less trees, grassy areas and architectural culture now. Great video!
chorley and leyland are both fantastic towns,they are still good even now.great town layout in the main.aaah beautiful girls and quite nice buildings.two beautiful sister towns!
I remember that phone box just outside of the train station near Stewart Longton caravans used to ring my mum up to come and pick me up after getting off the train from Manchester 🙏
i don't know who filmed that but that was absolutely sensational footage.utterly magical it may be just a bit after the 1985-6 watershed but i can't really tell chorley cinema had gone and mcdonalds was in the old spot,not across from the roundabout.which i only went to for the first time in august 2021(in love with my server!don't ask.i was just absolutely and still am,snitten!)that was beautiful footage.what a magical world that we were given by the almighty!no need to over complicate everything!just do like jimi did at woodstock just let it all hang loose and flow out from a jagged edge!good careful driving as well!
I was knocked off my bike by a car at 0:16 in 1987. When the police came the driver said it was my fault because I had a bald back tyre on my BMX. I remember the policeman telling him to pack it in.
I much prefer the old Chorley. Chorley council have made some proper balls ups and taken away a lot of the character of the place over the years. Used to love the old swimming baths.

i left chorley in the late 80s this is how i remember it.it has changed soo much i dont feel at home no more,when i vist
