  • We here at DW are pleased to announce that our long-time hardware & pedal artist, Gil Sharone, is now a Full-Line endorser of DW Drums. Gil gave us some much great playing footage, that we couldn't help but include all of it in this video. Gil also speaks about his "gravitation" towards DW Drums and highlight some of his favorite qualities about his favorite drum company.
Gil has worked on more live and studio projects than we can list, but for more details, you can visit his personal website:
    www.gilondrums.com/
You can also buy his new DVD "Wicked Beats" off his site.
The kit in this video was a loaned to Gil while his custom kit was being made. Here are the specs for both kits:
    Loaner Kit:
    Collector's Series Maple Exotic
Cherry Cluster Natural to Deep Rich Red Fade
    with Chrome Hardware.
    7x8(X), 8X10 (VLT), 9X12 (VLT), 14X14 (X), 16X16 (VLX),
    18X22 (VLX)
6.5X14 Maple Snare (VLT no re-hoops)
Natural Super Solid Snare (unknown size and thickness)
Gil's Custom Kit (not shown in this video):
    Collector's Series Maple
Lacquer Specialty Black Pearl over Black
    with Black Nickel Hardware
All with 3 ply reinforcement hoops
    7x8 (X), 8x10 (VLT), 9x12 (VLT), 10x13 (VLT), 14x15 (X), 15x16 (VLX), 13x20 (VLX),
    18x23 (VLX+),
5.5x14 Edge Snare (Standard), 5x14 Maple Snare (VLT, no re-hoops)
He also has a White Ice Performance Series Kit.
All drum kit audio was recorded using only the Zoom H4n Handy Recorder place 3.5 feet high and 10 feet away directly in front of the bass drum. Not only is this mic/recorder super-convenient, but we also feel it give the most honest and natural sound...as if you were standing in the room.

Killer video, Gil is now one of my favorite drummers after discovering Stolen Babies! Seems like a really humble and down to earth guy too... I get a very good vibe from watching and hearing him play.

he just got a new dw-kit, most of you would probably play something similiar. It feels to me like pure joy expressed on drums

Thanks for your suggestion. We actually use Mahogany for our Classic's and Maple/Mahogany shells presently. We have been happy with the sounds with the woods we have been using but we have gradually branched out(for lack of a better term) so we will keep you posted on anything new. :)

That is honestly the best sounding bass drum I've ever heard, I'm wearing head phones and I feel it in my chest every time he hits it :)
