    I wish I knew about this a couple of weeks ago! Double brushed poly with a “normal” needle was NOT fun 🤦🏼‍♀️. I basically hand sewed a dress because of skipped stitches. I’ll definitely be getting ballpoint needles in the near future

    Thank you so much for your video. I changed my needle to a jersey needle and it's still skipping. Do you think the bobbin has anything to do with it?

    • @Sewintoitlessons
      @Sewintoitlessons  3 роки тому

      Hi! That could be a possibility. If you have not cleaned your bobbin racer in a while, start by checking there. Lint build up can mimic other problems. Here's how I clean my bobbin area. ua-cam.com/video/XAQPbCsNZJM/v-deo.html

    When sewing with Eloflex thread, do you use regular thread for the bobbin? Or Eloflex in the bobbin as well?

    • @Sewintoitlessons
      @Sewintoitlessons  3 роки тому +2

      Brent, hello! Use Eloflex in the bobbin as well 👍🏾

    • @brenthulst5413

      Thank you so much! I have been having a lot of issues with skiptched stitches. I have the right needle, loosened the foot pressure, but still issues with skipping. I have been using regular thread in my bobbin so I hope this makes a difference.

    • @brenthulst5413
      @brenthulst5413 3 роки тому

      @@Sewintoitlessons so I tried the thread in the bobbin. Things were great!! 5-6 test stitch rows were perfect so I started my project. BAM!! Skipped stitches again! So I played with tension and nothing helped even a new stretch needle. I just saw a tip that the material can lift into the larger gap of the presser foot. So they suggested a simple piece of tape under to "seal up" the gap. I just finished my project with no worries! So a simple piece saved me after hours of frustration! Who knew!

    • @Sewintoitlessons
      @Sewintoitlessons  3 роки тому +1

      @@brenthulst5413 that’s great! I often teach to use a piece of tissue paper over the sewing plate at the beginning of the stitch to keep lightweight knit fabrics from being pulled under. I’m so glad that tip worked for you!

    Please help me I cannot figure out how to get even tension on my threads when I use a twin needle one of them is perfect the other one is loose I don’t know how to adjust tension for one and not the other. Please help

    • @Sewintoitlessons
      @Sewintoitlessons  4 роки тому

      Hi! It could be that one of the threads is between the tension discs and the other is not. If you are not doing this already, try threading both threads together as though they were one. Make sure the presser foot is up. Separate the threads when you get to the eye of the needle. I hope that helps.

    What is your tension on for sewing knits? I have the same machine.

    • @Sewintoitlessons
      @Sewintoitlessons  4 роки тому +2

      Hi! I don’t typically need to move my tension setting. I only do if I am sewing a fabric that is particularly thick, heavy, or light. In this video my tension is on 4 and it’s in 4 right now. Knit fabrics also come in varying weights. You might see that you would need to adjust the tension a little if you were sewing a tissue thin knit vs. a double knit fabric. I hope that helps.

  • @laurenjohnson7856

    what tension do you have on your machine?

    • @Sewintoitlessons
      @Sewintoitlessons  2 роки тому +1

      Lauren, it’s on the manufacturer’s settings. Here’s a video I made all about tension and when to change it.

    Didn't help at all. Brand new jersey ballpoint needle did nothing. Tried every size even. Kept skipping.
    I am halfway thru this vid hoping there are more suggestions to try than just 'change to the proper needle. '

      Hi! I’m sorry you are still having difficulties with your project. Using the right needle for a project is a major factor when sewing with any fabric. When it comes to troubleshooting sewing machines or fabric issues, there are a number of possible solutions and you have to find the correct one. I have a video about machine troubleshooting. These are also the things I teach in detail to my sewing students. When it comes to sewing knitted fabrics, changing the needle usually is the top solution.
