I always thought witches on these platforms were a bit crazy to say "Dont work with the fae." From just being a small child, my mother raised me with the mindset, you respect the fae, learn about the fae, and if you are lucky the fae might talk to you. Till this day, I hold that belief higher than anything. I feel like rejecting them is like rejecting an aspect of nature.

Yes. I see "Don't work with the fae!!!" everywhere, and it seems like fear mongering. While not all fae are benevolent and you must research extensively to work with them, they have very similar relationships with humans as other entities do. Since the fae are such a big group you do have to know much about what ones will not be fond of humans, and which might be. They can be finicky and as a beginner witch I certainly am not one to get involved, but they should be respected. Not feared as much, a healthy amount, but not so much that you're paranoid.

I do understand why they say it, for it seems many new witches otherwise (or even with warnings) jump into things and or don't do research and problems often arise. I mean there was a tik tok thing that happened where some new witches not only cursed the moon, they tried to get together to curse the fae for some reason.
I wish I was joking. I told my catholic mother (not catholic myself) and she gasped- you dont ever feck with the fae though. you respect them and leave them be.

My parents were Irish and I was always told that the Sidhe were nothing to fear but respect in fact even though my parents were catholic just under the thin veneer they spoke like Pagans, my father always said that the church was nature and if you wanted to worship or connect with god that’s the place to do it. My mother was very much a believer in the spirit world and the Irish legends as was my dad. They spoke about them as fact not fiction and that’s moulded me to be the same way.

I am fey and my mother told me it is passed to one female per generation. She had it too. She never explained anything more about it so this helps me. I told her at 18 that I saw events before they happened and she told me that the whole family knew I had"the power" since I was a little kid. I find it very uncomfortable but I am stuck with it. I end up praying and then I know what to do or where to go when it tells me. It is always for a good reason even though it is usually pertaining to someone's death illness or accident. I have been able to help the situation so I have learned to give in and not fight it.

One thing that’s worth mentioning, is that the word fairy has different meanings in different languages: while the french word faerie indicated the realmmof all magic creatures in ancient times, traditonally the faeries (fées) are described as women, similar to humans but with the power to alter the fate of mortals, just like italian faeries (fate). In germany, faeries (Fee/Fei/Fey) are more closely related to the slavic Vily, Samodivy and Tündèr, nature godesses that are bound to the territory they guard.

@@katyhawkins1149 Sorry, I was just joking. It's a quote from a Christmas Carol. When Scrooge is presented with the ghost of his old friends he says "You may be an undigested bit of beef, a blot of mustard, a crumb of cheese, a fragment of underdone potato. There's more of gravy than of grave about you, whatever you are!"
We live in a world that has millions of people that claim all kinds of fanciful things. People claim to have walked in heaven, some people hell. Some claim they were abducted by Aliens. Some cast spells, some can talk to the dead, read mind's, see the future. I've always been fascinated by the supernatural. But do you know what I have seen? Nothing, nada, squat. I don't want to offend you, but I think it very likely that what you think you saw was more likely in your own head rather than in reality. I accept that I could be wrong. In fact I really hope I am, but to believe in one thing is to believe in everything in my opinion. After all, if you really did see fairies then who's to say Joe didn't walk with God? Only, many of these things are contradictory. So I believe what my own eyes see.
I think dreams are as supernatural as it gets and I believe that people can dream while awake. Cheese makes people dream or so they say. My comment was just a jest. It's probably a little spite on my part, jealousy maybe. How I would love to see fairies or talk with God, even if I knew it wasn't real, but I just see... Well, nothing, ever.
I have seen first hand people convince themselves of things that just didn't happen though. Bright normal people who I would ordinarily trust.

    This is fantastic!
What would you consider people who aren't of Irish descent, but have Irish blood. I'm African American and my family never believed in Faeries. They're very Christian.
I grew up having tons of paranormal experiences. Most of them included fae encounters. These spirits that seem demi-human or could become solid at will, and elementals that would make themselves known. The men and women are majestic. Others have been during astral trips. Where I've waken up in caves, fields, fallen in oceans, and etc...
During my early 20s, walking home I ran across a pale lady in a green dress. She seemed blind yet ancient.
Other times I've had dreams, visions and evolving psychic abilities that seem beyond what's considered normal. A lot of my encounters led me to research Irish folklore, because it matches up incredibly.
Sometimes I wonder...if I inherited some skill or role that's been lost to history.

Thank you for sharing ! I think that’s the best video I’ve seen about the Fae folk so far. A new fan from Texas 🙋🏽‍♀️ Have you seen Wolf Walkers ? If so can you share stories of the myth behind Wolf Walkers ? My understanding is that when the romans came, and wiped out the druids or pagans they thought they shape shifted into wolves so they started killing wolves as well.

    • @VirtuesOfSin
      @VirtuesOfSin 3 роки тому

From what I recall from my research [involving English occupation of Ireland and the extinction of the Irish Wolves], the British were the ones who [successfully] drove the wolves into extinction after campaigning for it. The reason was twofold - to break the Irish spirit and to decrease their threat to farm animals as farming was becoming more popular. The former was because the Irish had a deep spiritual connection with wolves, and Britain thought that removing their spirituality would help make them more docile and easy to control. The latter was because Britain was trying to squeeze profit out of Ireland through exports.
Regarding the folklore behind Wolf Walkers, I believe it was inspired by one of the legends of the Ossory Wolves. I'm pretty sure BDT has a video about the Ossory, but it's different than the accounts used for Wolf Walkers. The Wolf Walker's version is the one where the Ossory could transmute their souls into wolves to protect Ireland while they slept.
Thinking about it, I'm pretty sure I'm confusing Ossory for another Irish family blessed/cursed with wolf transformation, but I'm too tired to fact-check. Lol

Excellent information. Demons are not demons, they are demonised gods of other religions. They are not necessarily evil, like the Fae, they just are. Trust me, I've been studying (loose term) demonolatry from an occult perspective. Also, there are beings called peri or feri in Persian mythology. Another one similar is the Dakini of Tibetan and Indian myth. There are nature spirits who we could consider fairies. ;) I trust your faerie or fair folk are Celtic, however.

I've been wondering about the possibility that the Fae are the basis for many religious beliefs, seeing as every continent has documented sightings of beings who fit the Fae denomination, come in human, semi-human, and absolutely every non-human form, and have powers that humans don't.

I’ve been feeling more connected to the earth, specifically the forest and a desire to cultivate mushrooms and garden for pleasure. I honestly couldn’t understand why I was feeling so drawn to this specific folklore because I’m black, American of Jamaican descent. 30 seconds into this video I remember my last name is McDermott 😂 some Irish were also enslaved on the island of Jamaica so my great great great great grandfather must be an Irish man...

I don't have any ancestry from the British isles whatsoever and I too have had a lingering connection to them for most of my life. I did come across some interesting information somewhat recently that could explain their appeal to such a wide, yet still niche audience. Many traits fae are sometimes said to have can be found among a certain recorded population, who also possess many of the indicators that were once used to identify changelings. Even today in regions unrelated to the isles, these people still have their parents mourn the loss of the child they thought they had (but never did), blame their existence on a scapegoat, and attempt to make them "normal again," even if that scapegoat isn't magical at all.

    • @morningafternoonheadshot6741

The one black guy I know that actually knew who his enslaved ancestors were, is descended from an Irish slave from the Caribbean. His last name is Gibbons.
They just trimmed the Irish slave trade and the 2 Irish genocides (Roman and then Great Britain) right out of world history and the Russian Holodomor (1917, 50-150million Russian peasants starved to death by NY ‘Bolsheviks’) who, when acknowledged, presented AS the Russian peasant/working class themselves rising up. Russians are adamant that the people who overthrew and then controlled the communist USSR regime were NOT the Russian people.
There’s a lot that is misrepresented, and when understood from all sides, make the events of the 20th century connect and make sense. Otherwise it’s just a crazy, nonsensical series of unrelated happenings presented as human nature being destructive as a natural state of being. This isn’t the case. We are born here and this planet is our natural hone and we are evolved along with our Mother Earth to support each other. Earth is evolved to accommodate human needs and ‘digest’ human waste. We are an integral part of the earth, to say it lightly.
“The Irish origins of civilization,” by Michael Tsarion would probably interest you.
My daughter is Irish and Cape Verdean. I tell her she comes from a line of Irish princesses and I want her to feel that connection in her soul. Not all the Irish are blondes w blue eyes (as I have and much of our side of the family). The part of you that is drawn to these things are your genetic memory. Lean into it in meditation or past life regression maybe. I have had dreams about being a whale since I was a kid. They feel so real it’s hard to explain, but it’s my spirit animal 💯.

I'm going to give my recollection of them dug out from the dust of my ancient memory bank. There very shy and tiny. About the size of a moth or up to size of a butterfly. They are very slender and beautiful lady creatures. Theres a catch to this, u will just see them as a bright glowing ball if u are afraid, or dont believe and they will likely fly away quickly if they sense this. However, if u find them interesting they may stick around a bit and lower that brightness to where u can make out there wings and great figure a bit. Here is the big one, if u have a pure and loving heart, u get the big show! They lower there light even more to where u can see all of them as they are. Imagine a tiny beautiful super model, buck naked with beautiful wings. Not only will they quickly give u a display, but will kiss your cheek and fly away in a hurry lol. I dont know where this memory comes from, but its in my mind. I think I was alive once when the world was a friendlier place. U dont see them much (if at all) now. To evil and nasty for them to appear. But there here. Just vibrating at a much higher density than us. We use to be pure love also before the reptilians and other aliens took our innocent nature and turned us into meat eating lunatics and slaves to dig up the earths resources. U can see this on Egyptian walls. Were just now this year getting slowly back to ourselves. The gods are back and cleaning house. The ignorant humans call them ufos and aliens. There simply family. All creatures are family. Earth is family. She is alive as well. We havent been nice to her. Still she loves us.

Bloodline that might Trace back to the FAE? That's very interesting, I have some personal experiences with things that may be considered fae... Also one of my family's surname is Fahey which has been misinterpreted and anglicized into green but I believe in Irish is foundation? Wonder if there could be any roots and correlation to a fae lineage?! That be really cool!

I found different folklore always interesing as well , especially the ones from Ireland, Scottland, Iceland ....basically the Northern region. At least to start with. Oh and I grew up with Grimm's tales, I have one old book in these blueish- white colour . It should still be stored in my choldhood books carton, so I have to look for it at my parent's house. 👋

When I was a very small child someone over the back fence had a radio on. I commented to Mum that I heard faint music and she said (obviously just joking but I took it seriously for years) "there must be fairies at the bottom of the garden". The hairs went up at the back of my neck and I never went in that corner again. I don't think I had a head full of warnings about them, it was more instinctual than that.
I've always been interested in them and I am here doing research for (a) story(s) that rescues faeries from the pony princess/new age oubliette.

It is somewhat interesting that faerie lore from what I've seen often tends to attract people from certain minorities who are themselves often seen as inhuman and who view the human world itself to be as alien as fairyland is often described. This seems to be one of the larger audiences other than people with Celtic ancestry or were taught these stories by their families.

First time I watch your videos!
It is an interesting perspective about Faeries! And of course religions would demonize them...sadly.
Sorry for bringing this again but, I'm trying to comprehend your view about fae existing only in Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales.
Like in the last comment, I understand that "celtic-fae" belong specifically in that area. I agree about not saying "everything is a fae", however unlike animals I think for faeries it was be more easy to spread in different parts of the world, after all they share human traits, so they can survive in other areas and in fact they were able to travel long distances long time ago.
For example we might find fae and no necesarily spirits, in northern spain since it shares celtic traditions, the Vily and Rusalka in the Balkan Peninsula and Rusia. Even in Asia, Africa, America and Oceania they had their concept of fae. They might vary of course, but at the end they were defined as faeries in very ancient traditions as well.
Another comparison are mermaids which I belive they live in all over the world since the sea is so vast, but in this case maybe when we think about mediterranean mermaids and merrow, we could take specifically the three celtic nations mencioned suitable for the 2nd concept.
So my hypothetical question is, faeries might exist all over the world, but are the different classes the ones that are specifically reserved to those areas?
Sorry if I wasn't that clear, I tried to explain myself in the most correct way, and this is my point of view. I just belive and feel as the world it self has nature, faeries will be there.
But of course I can't say I am right about this, and I respect and admire such a rich and wonderful tradition that your family has.

I did a spell the other night just to kind of worship the Divine goddess that is the moon since we had the super flower blood moon.... And it was an eclipse, I felt I didn't really need to ask for anything or take anything away so I just kind of honored the divinity that is the Moon.
This morning me and my boyfriendheard a noise outside and we went to check because we've been having problems with criminals and I do live here in Atlanta.... But what we saw was so unexpected.
I saw this beautiful glowing light in the distance in the treetops.
the light blowed on and off the way a firefly would but clearly this is a good eighth of a mile away so obviously this was no lightning bug.
As we watched it could see it walking through the trees, I look to the right where one of the light poles were not working, and I saw the most beautiful fairy flying around the pole in a zipping motion.
meanwhile the ferry with the light that was dimming on-and-off was still walking through the trees. I don't know if they were playing or matingor if one of them were injured spiritually but I can honestly say that him and I experience something together that most people try their whole lives to achieve. I feel so lucky and this is undoubtedly the fae. I just wish I knew what they were doing and if what I did Drew them there. But there's no doubt in my mind that these were fairies we can see the shape of their bodies in the way their wings moved when they flew and it was something to behold.
I felt as if I was chosen to be able to see them and I just wonder why me?
Could it be because I'm very much of an intuitive witch?I mean I've always practiced since I was very young and I come from a long line of magical healers...... But I wasn't sure if I was very good at it.
Besides being able to change traffic lights from red to Green, and getting that intuition before something bad happens and it always being a 100% true, I could have never imagined in a million years to witness such a sight.
Let alone, share the experience was someone that I am deeply in love with.
    Disclaimer:
I made this comment before watching the video so the terminology maybe a little off I see.

The term fairies is actually almost exclusively french until the 17th century or so(I might be a little off there). There are certainly creatures that are fairy-like all over the world, and in our lore it's even more connected than that, but fairies themselves as we perceive them today are a European/Scandinavian interpretation, with the Scandinavian side leaning more towards trolls and goblins.

This really depends. There are shape shifters in the Aoi Sidhe, as a matter of fact, most of the more powerful creatures can shape shift and any human children would have been able to as well.
Were creatures are a late century phenomenon, lycanthropy and other such superstition rose with the rise of religion. While it does link to some myths of the time, much like the story of count dracula, these tales became exasperated with the up come of city babbles.
For instance, even in the US there are some native tribes that believed they and their ancestors were ALL skin walkers, and this held more of a negative connotation as time went on.

They might have been ":D These early videos were mostly shot on my phone, and some of the later ones too. But I am happy to blame it on the fairies lol

I'm writing a book, well it might become a webcomic idk yet, but one of my protagonists is a faerie and I want to make sure I write him and his behavior as accurately as I can.
His name is Cathal. That's all I have. That, and the fact that he's the second youngest out of nine siblings, the fact that he lives in the woods of my other protagonist's home, and the fact that he plays a lute-- Any advice for what I can do for him?

Never drink blood. Note someone else blood atleast. Has it the same bittersweet taste? I find mine quite tasteless actually.
