I don’t use this enough... but I do love your Celadon glazes! I’ve sent pieces to many galleries that are almost entirely made of Celadon collages. They are wonderful. Pretty sure I own every color you’ve ever made, and I mix them like a bandit 😂😂💖
Question. Can I use wax resist on bisqueware to do a design, brush on underglaze over the top, then use a brush on clear coat over the top of that? Will the wax resist, resist both layers?
The wax will resist both layers. If you want to apply it directly on top of the bisqueware (without any design underneath) your raw clay will show through after the firing. The way to do it is paint your underglaze design, allow it to dry, put a clear coat over it, allow it to dry then apply the wax on top of it then you can apply a different glaze on the rest of the piece.
Hi there, unfortunately once the wax is on a piece it stays there until the firing. You can try to scrape it off with a tool but since bisque ware is porous, it absorbs the wax into any place it is applied so it can't be fully removed.
what if i applied wax to greenware (someone told me that it would help with cracking) after it was fired, i could still see the wax. hopefully when i fire again, it should come off or no? i was afraid to glaze it with the wax still on the bisqueware.
How do you recommend cleaning the brushes after? The was resist seems to harden on me and I can never save the brush. Soapy water, apply heat, nothing has worked for me.
I use a brush cleaning soap like the Masters Brush Cleaner soap, but Dawn dish detergent or Simple Green cleaner will work as well. It may be wise to use a designated brush for using liquid wax. If you're using paraffin (or hot wax) instead of liquid wax I don't know of anything that will clean the brush.
Wax can be applied to the foot of a piece, it will burn off in firing. If there is any glaze beaded up on the wax make sure to clean it off before firing or it will stick to the kiln shelf.
Hi there, we are not 100% sure how to make the wax apply smoother so if your wax is chunky we recommend purchasing a new bottle of wax. If you're still having issues with it, we recommend contacting our technical support team via email at customercare@amaco.com

What's the best way to clean wax resist off of a piece if one gets it where they don't want it?

What do I do if your wax resist does not apply smoothly ?? Is there something I can add to it to make it more smoother application??
