@AndrewjWilson check out their alter egos The Yobs I used to listen to their Christmas album/CD every year until a so-called friends stole it from me during a party I had at my old apartment.
I think my overall favs would be Ramones Leave Home and The Clash self-titled. As for I think the punk record that's most influential, I'd say it's Wire's Pink Flag, which paved the way for the future of post-punk and even Britpop, as well as the existing punk genre of that time (even moreso than Never Mind The Bollocks did)
The Stranglers 2nd album No more heroes is their punkiest album. They were often called the Punk Doors, because of the keyboard sound and style . Subway Sect were a great 77 English punk band. Did not release many recordings though. Great video Bro,,thanks a lot
The emergance of rebellion started in 1976 after The Ramones had played and half the crowd in attendance includeding The Sex Pistols started bands, just because the 1st official Punk record wasn't released untill 77 didn't mean 76 was any less relevant to the history of Punk Rock.
@zappadadooi90 One of the best things about music in general is that taste is subjective, but Johnathan Richman is definitely a good songwriter, and TML was definitely a big influence on what is now called 77 Punk.
@garywhite7886 Good call, but the true seeds of the rebellion started with the Ramones they took the out the blues influence that premeted such proto punk bands like The Stooges and the MC5 and kicked off rebellion with the sonic assault the Ramones cut their teeth on.
I just differentiate between punk and post punk using the argument "who could play" sex pistols being Neanderthals for example but wire brought out pink flag Nov 77 but they were jazz guys playing punk. they were to london what television were to new york. And to answer who likes wire minor threat covered "12xu" and fugazi were big fans, black flag were into them, sonic youth, Ray cappo (youth of today, better than a thousand), Steve Albini. Husker du. And artsy stuff I got you into snapped ankles so kind of proud.
Last point ian glasper (the punk rock historian on this) would actually cite crass as the OG crust punk band, like he said its retrospectively splitting hairs back then crass, discharge, amebix etc was all one thing. Both he and mike dines the other historian on that scene say the same thing. that scene was so diverse but those in that scene bought everything there's no point in creating subgenres.
Great choices, if you like "Pure Mania" you should check out their "V2" record. It's a better record, imo. Also in the same vain would be Slaugter & the dogs, 999, Eddie and the Hot Rods...
@punkrockreview so far only half way through this but knowing you just caught the Vibrators and Boys hit i think you will like the bands Slaughter and The Dogs, and Eddie and the Hot Rods
2 get to 77 punk records , the stooges, mc5 were a massive influence on what was to become punk search and destroy is a punk song in 73 and i feel alright by the damned is a stooges cover + the pistols cover no fun, ect the Ramones were all Stooges fans, but especially the Ramones, there first album and visit to uk in 76, was what got folk excited that something was brewing, the first 4 albums are all classics btw, also the pub rock scene was also influential ,alot of those bands became punk bands, the sex pistols play and get everyone more excited the saints, im stranded , the damned, new rose , sex pistols anarchy in the uk 7" singles all came out in 76, as for other great albums from 77 ..... AC/DC with bon is the real deal sped up blues heavy rock eg touch too much or if you want blood later they were heavy rock/metal eg thunderstruck or who made who. CRAP.
Can’t wait for that Jesse interview !!!!!!!!
Bruh.... lol, man I am tripping out on that one, myself!
The Ramones and the Damned the rest followed suit.
The best thing about what is now called 77 punk is that every band looked and sounded different.
Sex Pistols Never mind the Bollocks, greatest punk album ever, as well as being greatest debut album ever
Great thing about the original punk scene in Uk ,was that each punk band had their own unique look and sound
The Boys are a great underated English punk band from 77.
@AndrewjWilson check out their alter egos The Yobs I used to listen to their Christmas album/CD every year until a so-called friends stole it from me during a party I had at my old apartment.
the jam and the boys are the only 70's uk punk bands i like. oh, angelic upstarts as well
You present a great podcast. Keep up the good work bro. Peace ✌️ 😊
Looking forward to this one! Should be interesting.
It was a fun talk, I need to fix the thumbnail tho....
The Adverts- Crossing the Red Sea is one of my favorite Brit punk albums of that time

Modern Lovers s/t and only record from 1976 I think is arguably better than any 1977 punk album I've ever heard

1973- 1978 The saints from Australia .1976 stranded first heard punk.

ramones first album was recorded January 1976; released April 1976

Stiff Little Fingers did get their name from a Vibrators song

Also some members of The Vibrators later went on to join The Stranglers and Roxy Music
Another great video Bro,well done ✔️ 😊

The Dickies are a good early punk band
@punkrockreview so far only half way through this but knowing you just caught the Vibrators and Boys hit i think you will like the bands Slaughter and The Dogs, and Eddie and the Hot Rods

The sex pistols are overrated to me. They were more known for their attitude than their music. Personally I think the damned is way better.
The Pistols with Glen Matlock on Bass were the real deal, bringing Sid in and made them a parody of the band it was.
AC/DC with bon is the real deal sped up blues heavy rock eg touch too much or if you want blood later they were heavy rock/metal eg thunderstruck or who made who. CRAP.
