Good to know for sure! I have 2 outside the gate and one is slightly more protected from the wind and you can see the difference. Looking forward to the next video 👍🏻

Mine got hammered on the north side from Ian. I'm hoping it isn't fatal. If mine survives, it does produce seed and I'd be interested to know how I can propagate them. I'm in the north Venice area, Nokomis. If you want to contact me, I have a lot of Dypsis decaryi seedlings growing and two mature trees and it would be fun to get your take on these palms.

Long time no see. Haven’t grown any palms in a while. Bismarck’s are my favorite palms.

Very interesting. Thanks for sharing your analysis. Knowing this, would you warn against planting them in hurricane prone areas?

I had 20 newly planted Bismarckia and we had the worst winds all winter constant almost and up to 85mph. The older large specimens were severely damaged and needed to be fully trimmed of leaves to leave only the spike which I pushing out but showing crushing damage. Most of the newly planted one completely died from wind crushing the spikes. Some will survive but my thoughts are they are not good for windstorm areas and should be avoided

I am looking for a Bismarck expert-I need help! I am in North Florida. We bought the tree from someone in Jacksonville in early February. It has continually gotten worse looking. I have given it palm fertilizer about 3 times. It gets watered enough. It's in our front yard and receives full sun. help!?

@13ased_American I believe so. I bought it from a pretty big seller? Jax Palms I think. I used the black cow dirt and we put it in the ground pretty deep.

I am just curious, would it make sense to cut off some of the frawns right before a hurricane?

Yes that would possibly help. You would have to make sure there's no open wounds.
