Here's a honest take... Starfield is just a slightly better Mass Effect Andromeda... It's not really a space game, space is just where it happens... I played Everspace 2 like a year ago when it was in prerelease, it was great!
Bought this game as soon as it released early access. Played Everspace 1 on its release also. This game is definitely a space combat game unlike the builder games out there. The RPG equipment aspects are great also and leave room for expanding in DLCs. Hours of fun for sure.
I've been playing this game for the last 3 weeks, and I'm not stopping till I finish. I haven't touched Armor Core yet I don't know when I'll get around to play in Starfield but. Every space is a very good game.
you will be disappointed if you play Starfield. Since is not a space game, there is no control when you go to a planet, you cant go to orbit or control ship in planet, but just outside them and they are just 2D models, not 3d.
As someone who has more then 145 hours in-game on nightmare difficulty (you unlock it after you beat at least one game), along with the best ship / everything (leg ship, 8 leg items of which I can only use 2, and more then 60 starforged superior items all at lvl 30) I totally agree with you that Everspace has much more to the space aspect, and the further you get into it the more of a storyline / lore you see however when you start to do the same thing 50 times over such as selling objects for profit it starts to become boring. Even with the fact that there is a lot of combat, if you repeatedly run lunacy 1K rifts like I did it still starts to become less fun, and less enjoyable. I would highly suggest the game due to it bieng one of the best in my opinion, with many aspects to it, however I highly suggest to buy it after the first few updates, so that way there is much more content to explore, instead of spending multiple days grinding. Edit - I am not only talking about grinding for credits but also the grind to get legendary ships, aka Tareen's "Ship Dealers" perk for which you need a whole ton of superior ingredients for the last level of it, which took me many times as much time as it took me to get the last level of renown.
The gring is one of the pleasures of this game - very much like Diablo 4. That game is just as grindy. I agree that some sort of extra, or varied, content would be good. A PvP area like in Diablo would give that extra reason to keep grinding.
Starfield wouldn’t work on my Xbox so of course I’m playing this game, at first, I was confused because I played ever space one a lot, but when I realized what kind of game this is, I haven’t played anything else since.
And btw even though the map has a ton of detail, it sometimes misses out on some thing such as the cannon on top of the trading post at Union Bridge, if you fly over to the top of it and look between the barrel and the turret, you will find something that most likely not supposed to be there.
And if anybody asks then I have auto aim turned off, if you want to turn it off then go to Settings > Input > [The controls that you use, not the customize controls eg. mouse and keyboard] > Find the setting called auto aiming strength, (near the top) and turn it to 0.
I've been thinking the same thing. After playing a bit of Starfield, I don't find that it's any better than other space games. It actually makes me want to play Everspace 2 more, as well as No Man's Sky, and play the Remastered Mass Effect again, for different reasons. Starfield doesn't do anything excellently, at least at launch, and all three of these games do different things better. We'll see how Starfield looks in a year or two...I may revisit after I've played these better games I mentioned.
I was planning on playing Everspace when I finished everything on Resident Evil 4 (played it when it first came out on my brother's PC because they didn't release it on Xbox One, which was all I had, but now I very recently got a Series X finally, so I bought it again because it's absolutely amazing, an amazing remake of my favorite game of all time...But I digress) and call me out of touch, but I actually just learned about Starfield's existence yesterday because a UA-camr I know was talking about the "choosing pronouns" in it. This so happened to be right before I finished my goal of all achievements on Resident Evil 4...Which I did just a few hours ago. Now, seeing that Starfield is gonna be on Gamepass later today...I don't know much about either game (paused about a minute into this video, my first video, to type this after reading a few comments...I was already was leaning Everspace..I'll make the decision very soon, hopefully...
110% agree with you. Everspace 2 doesn't compromise with trying to be 2 different games. While fun I've found that starfield feels empty in comparison while everspace 2 is a world full of life and interesting biomes to explore. And let's not forget that combat! Magnifique!!! ❤
Only thing i disagree on is the original everspace not being good. I loved that game so much. I feel like the rougelike format turned people away because they went in expecting a more traditional space game experience. But if you go into it expecting a Rouguelike and being in the mood for one it is a fantastic game.
Yep, Freelancer had not been beat for decades, but, it looks like Everspace2 might be close once again. I am also looking at Spacebourne 2 ... looks very good, though still in Alpha.
Freelancer is definitely starting to feel a little bit dated, and I don't just mean from a graphical perspective. There are a lot of weird little idiosyncrasies that definitely make it a product of its time. It's not a bad game by any means, but the vanilla experience (without mods, etc) definitely leaves a lot to be desired in 2023 after playing it on and off over the years. Everspace to definitely scratches that itch, and with a shiny coat of paint to boot. The only street advantage I would give to freelancer is that the mood or 'vibe' of the game it's a lot more grungy and Star wars like (original trilogy), which I kind of like more than everspace's more clean view of the future. Even run down or abandoned areas in the game still feel less grimy and lived-in than anything in freelancer.
I'm thinking about buying this game. I'm searching since years for a game that's similar to Galaxy on Fire 2 (GoF3 wasn't that good....imo). I've played GoF2 a lot on Android (but it's awful on PC). On the other side i have Star Citizen, Starfield and EVE Online.
Thanks, wasnt sure of getting the game since the first one, i felt it was missing something. You described exactly what i needed to ear, its downloading now👊👍
I've been playing Everspace 2 for 1 month and this game sucked me in (95h) and I've only just arrived in Zharkov. I dropped Spider-man and Uncharted. There is always something useful to do in Everspace 2 during a short or long play session.
@VIIHIPPER been playing alot of everpscae 2 and I must say... ITS AMAZING!! In some aspects such as graphics, story depth, lore and some other stuff it's much deeper and it has this amazing feel to it, you can tell the devs put their hearts and souls into it but at the same time gof2 has that same feeling but different, I'd rate them the same imo
btw love the expanded games over legends. I know many may not appreciate this as they are focused on wowsl, but ive finally given up on the game because of the horrible teammates
GO PLAY STARFIELD IGNORE THE PASSIVE AGRESSIVE HATE AND HAVE FUN WITH A REALLY REALLY COOL GAME... But before you do leave a like on this video for support 👍 He put time and effort on this video for some reason
Everspace 2 is not better than starfield. It is better in the aspect of being a space arvade shooter with some rpg elements. But starfield is much more complex. Having seen your first starfield vids, I have the impression you may be looking at it from a wrong aspect. It is not a space arcade shooter, it is basically Fallout 4 in space. If you just travel around from start and dont follow the mission quests (any), you will have a hard time to kick off.
If you havent yet, go to Mars and start from there. Go to New Atlantis and sign up for the Navy, for Police and for the secret service (each seperately). That will get you signed up by the pirates during the questline as weill as giving you markers at relevant places. My hint is to focus on fights (ballistik perk, laser perk), Security (level 2 at least for lock picking), convincing level 2 at least and so on. Also Trading level 2 helps to make money by selling. Later in the game you may shift to ship perks and exploration perks. But Starfield is an Ego shooter RPG in the main instance and you should buff your combat skills at start. Later you focus on other stuff. Give it another try, Everspace2 was nice but I was done after 40 hours and it became very repetitive. In Starfield I have done a few quests only in about 20h by now and dont have a repetetive feeling. The game is questt based. Later on, go freely but not at start.
@@MysticalDragon73 actually it doesnt. Fantastic story quests kI have had the first 20 hours so far. People dont realize they need certain perks for certain things to activate. Again, it is Fallout 4 in space. I agree, flying in space isnt great but its just a gimmick. the game centers around story lines and exploration of locations on planets. If you thought you get a space flight sim, it isnt at all. But it never intended to be one. If you love fallout 4, you will love this.
@@blackpriest14 The storytelling and exploration in Starfield are godawful, though. Most conversations feel like I'm talking to chatGPT. Characters have no personality, there's no narrative drive, it's got the most boring opening hours of any BGS game. Persuation is just about nonsensically repeating the same lines with the right numbers, not about choosing the right words. Exploration is the same on every planet, just scanning creatures/plants/resources over and over again in different-colored deserts. There's like 3 biomes copy-pasted all over the galaxy with the same activities, occasionally broken by an interesting location that still pales compared to their previous games. Starfield is the definition of quantity over quality, it wants to be everything but it does nothing exceptionally.
@@matman000000 well, quite a lot of people seem zo like the game and given some people play a much more repetitive game like wowslegends since 4 years, I dont see a problem. I really like both games . 2 different things tho , starfield is more of a traditional rpg mush the same as all the other bethesda rpg games . Everspace 2 is more of an action game with very light rpg elements in it and more of a focus on combat than actual depth . I enjoyed how my hosas setup worked with everspace 2 . The action and visuals were nice and the story was servicable . Everspace 2 is definitely not better than starfield tho . That is a crazy ass hot take . I don't understand this irrational push by some gamers to shit on starfield but it is pretty unhinged .
Starfield is what brought me here because it caused me to search for a game that would fill that void that Starfield caused. I was so in the mood for a space game and just absolutely crushed when I realized how much of the space stuff was missing in Starfield. The space elements in Starfield are laughably small. This game looks very cool and I think I will buy it. Thanks for the review.

I have a 30 day free xbox gamepass so I used it for Starfield and after 2 weeks my final verdict is that Starfield is just pointless. There are some good systems but they have no payoff in gameplay. Thankfully I discovered that gamepass also includes Everspace 2 so I'll use the final 2 weeks to give this a try. Thanks for the video as it helped me decide to play.
Starfield is aggressively overrated. Main story is hollow and I’d say 5/10 for a rating. Haven’t played any of the side quests yet but it can’t be much better lol
