Too many garden youtubers do a monthly garden tour that can last 30 or 40 minutes. I really appreciate vids of less than 20 minutes that show highlights, how to's and education. I look forward to seeing how your fruit tree guilds develop.
Totally agree with this - it’s about capturing change, that of the plants yourself and things you are adding, moving, removing. Talking a bit about seasonal maintenance tasks is the bit of Monte I find the most useful too.
I’m one of those people that love watching long videos, provided they’re not too waffly! 😂 Niall is never waffly though, always succinct and enjoyable to watch.
I’m a bit late to this party 😉 but I still wanted to comment to let you know I loved this video. (I enjoy all your videos of course!) This format of garden tour works really well and will be a feature I’ll look forward to. Gardening is so much about change and I love to watch people’s gardens change through the seasons. Loved hearing about your upcoming plans and jobs too. Your production and presenting is of such high quality Niall. It’s more like a mini Gardener’s World than a UA-cam vlog. You should be very proud of all you’ve achieved- both in the garden and on/off camera 😊 You’ll be well ready to fill Monty’s shoes by the time he’s ready to retire 😉
Aw it's just brilliant isn't it?! Being able to step outside into the garden and see fresh growth, or a little bit of warmth from the sun, and it just feels like 'the clouds are clearing'
I just found your channel a few days ago, and have binge watched several episodes! I too began a fruit tree guild garden last year, but yours is the first I've seen that isn't wild and messy guild gardening in the country. I live in a suburb of Seattle, and I want the benefits of tree guilds, but I need it to look nice too. It will be fun to build my gardens and watch yours at the same time!
Love the mix, it ws really enjoyable to watch. Everything is just so exciting in the garden now and so full of promise. I love late Winter/early spring when everything is waking and coming to life. It's invigorating. Thanks Niall. happy gardening 😃
Spring definitely feels like it’s in the air, I agree. I can’t decide if I’m just optimistic, in the hope of less rain coming. Lovely tour of all of your garden areas.
Yes, I agree there is nothing more promising than that first day you feel that anticipation of spring no matter where you live in the world. That surge of energy that here's nothing you can't accomplish that day. -------Those are the days we all remember. -------
Nice bulb table Niall! I’ve got the same mix of bulbs myself on my table, snowdrops , early dwarf irises, early dwarf tulips. Its just fantastic to see theses flowers after the short dark cold days. Having them on a table makes these smaller plants so much easier to appreciate. Its like hanging a beautiful picture in a gallery at eye level!
Niall never get board of your expanse of garden. Ye really lucked out getting this as your home. Loving the guild garden. My word, that's some greenhouse, its beautiful. . They weather had been great for gardening here, 300 bulbs for the summer planted, lots of primroses planted. Lots of gardening done too. So glad you are making the most of your green house. May I say the bulb lasagne is still going, iris ate the first to pop out to say hi. Love the choice of seating for your guild garden. You have done a great job Niall,as ling as you are happy, that's what matter, its all a great adventure. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Lorraine! ❤️ I hope all is well with you. Yeah we're incredibly fortunate to the garden and space that we do. The greenhouse is really lovely to be in and I'm in love with it. 300 bulbs - good on ya! That'll be a lovely display. And super that your bulb lasagne is still performing for you. The seating is actually all charity shop finds that are painted up in super bright colours. A family member makes them for me and I think they add such a pop of colour and a bit of fun to the garden!
@niallgardens well that's even better again, charity find, whoohoo. Money well spent. I had list my major, and whooped myself back on the track. Thanks Niall.
Hi Niall. Your grounds are looking very nice. I'm sure that you're looking forward to cutting that grass as usual... 😂 I look forward to seeing how everything turns out and blooms in the spring.
can’t wait to see how those containers colour up! I definitely know what you mean, last week I had a solid “ahh, the air smells like spring” moment down in Dublin.
I'm just begining to reap the benefits of the bulb lasagne that you inspired me to plant last year in half a dozen large containers. The Crocus are lovely already and I can't wait for the rest to bloom, Iris Reticulata, Daffs and Tulips. Brilliant after a long grey winter. I'm going to buy as many Snowdrops in the green as I can find this year as well for a show for years to come. My garden is sadly lacking in them. I'm enjoying watching your garden evolve and I'm particularly intersed to see how the Fruit guilds develop as I have a place in my garden that might be ideal. Thanks again for the inspiration!
Yaye! Dwarf fruit trees. My kind of garden! I've got nectarines, peaches, apricot, apple, plums and pear trees. As well as perenials and cottage plants, bulbs and dahlias planted in between. Just joined your page and are thrilled, so far. Jo from New Zealand 🇳🇿 Siberian irises have delicate patterns on their Indigo petals. Might be worth planting some in a damp, semi shaded part of the garden or in larger pots.
Look at all the green! I thought that has to be a green screen with Photoshopped background 😮 it's been so long since I saw a green so vibrant here in Canada. It's very cold and snowy for months.
Hi Niall your guild garden really looking great, it's nice having a little tour around your garden it's a joy to see everything growing reminds us Spring is around the corner 😊❤🎉
So nice of you and I'm glad that you enjoyed it! I like being able to share my garden beyond just doing how-to info videos, but I do find it tricky just walking around and saying 'this is here, that's there'! So hopefully this mashup worked!
Just lovely and i have many spring bulbs popping up and some have flowers. I have got allotment now as well and am making plans for it but most of it will happen next year. The nice thing is that it has fruit trees too.
Yes, about that feeling of change. Also, I've noticed the air smells different too...Being In touch and in tune with seasonal changes. Delightful 😊 💐🪻🌷🌲
Wow garden looks amazing. Love the greenhouse. Such a beautiful addition to the Guild Garden. Now go prune your apple trees before it is to late. Yes be prepared for some more freezing temperatures. North Texas dropped 7 degrees below freezing last night. Not good for my already budding fruit trees. Thanks for the video. Have a wonderful week.
Hahahahaha! I've got my orders!... I'll have to go and get those apple trees sorted! 😂 No those freezing temps really are less than ideal - hopefully your fruit trees do ok
I am so glad your making these videos. They are very helpful to see what I can be doing and how the garden looks right before it starts to explode with beautiful flowers everywhere. Thank you for taking the time to share all your experience.
Greetings from the US where we are still in the depths of winter! I loved this video! These video's showing what you are doing in your garden are my favorites. I'm happy to see these videos at whatever pace you are able to post them. Your place is looking lovely and all your work is inspirational!
Niall. I truly enjoyed the video with a cup of tea. We are on the same page. Longer days - i feel spring is in the air. As always, I love your garden & the ideas you share with us.
Niall I’m totally in awe of your greenhouse! I got silver and I’m regretting not getting black. This will be my first season of really getting to use it and I’m looking forward to seeing it come to life. Brilliant video as always so thanks for that.😊
Hi Niall: Thank you for showing your glass house. I would love know more about that. Why did you select that type, why did you set it where you did on your property, just more about it. I would love to have one but my garden is now so mature, I'd have to remove some things to put one in. Thank you and Happy Spring! DA
Good morning, Niall, from Windermere, Florida zone 9b USA I love your mini fruit trees 🍐🍒🍎 I really love your greenhouse ❤ Things are happening ❤ 70's here❤ ❤Peggy❤
Good morning Peggy! ❤️ Thanks very much - it feels like that part of the garden is really coming together this year. I've put massive work into it over the winter. Oooh I wish it was in the 70s here too!!!
For me, that sounds awesome since we get so little snow! But I'm sure after a while it gets tiresome and you're ready for the warmth and sunshine of spring!
It is beautiful especially since I have a red barn and she shed. And do not have to venture out unless I want Still hard to wait for spring 😂@@niallgardens
Yeah it's a fabulous space. My plan is to use it during the Autumn / Winter / Early Spring for seed raising and overwintering, then in the summer for tomatoes and chillies
Good morning Niall, hope you're well, lovely to see your garden starting to show the bulbs flowering, love snow drops mine are all flowering now look like a carpet of snow, the crocus are now looking lovely too, the little purple ones were all out last wednesday it was a very mild day, after the day of snow the week before, it went over night thank goodness. Very damp here last few days, too wet to go in the garden again, i did a bit of tidying last week. Well thanks for your chat today, see you soon take care, happy gardening 🌼🌻🌳🍁😊x
Morning Hazel! ❤️ Yeah it's so cheering to see the spring bulbs isn't it? Your bulbs sound fantastic - I love how you describe them as a carpet of snow. So good that we're both getting a bit of time at least to get out and get some gardening done! Take care! 🥰
Beautiful, I am enjoying all the green in your garden. Spring is a long way off here in Montana (zone 4). We've got 8-10 inches of snow on the ground. Our last frost date is mid-May.
Oh wow! Though it's funny because our last frost date is mid-May also but because we have such mild winters, the gradient between winter and summer is much less
Hi Niall ❤🤗 Great to see a glimpse into your other areas of the garden 💚 The greenhouse is beautiful and you have plenty growing in there. Thanks for the lovely update and best wishes, Maiju 💚😁
Hi Maiju! Thanks very much - it's getting there slowly but surely! Hope all's going well in your garden too!... and hopefully we'll get a chance to have a catchup this year! ❤️
Lovely video! But I actually wouldn’t mind seeing plant beds overgrown with weeds as everyone has them in the garden and as a new gardener I find it hard to recognize weeds in the spring. Often I leave them growing because I’m worried it’s something I planted…I think it’s the untidy corners that are most interesting to see and what to do with them!
What a wonderful space you have and I definitely have greenhouse envy! I am as prepped as I can be for Spring if it would only stop raining!! Can you tell me what you do with your pots after they have flowered - discard the bulbs, put them to rest until Autumn and re-pot. Curious to know your system.
Oh, so when it comes to spring flowering bulbs, I never through them out. Maybe I'm being cheap, but I find that with a bit of aftercare they come back for a good few years. I'll keep the pots watered, occasionally feeding the plants after flowering, and let the foliage die back naturally. Then I'll leave the pots (not so neatly! ha!) stacked somewhere!
Thanks Pauline! So for me personally, I start mine at the beginning-to-mid March. Plenty of people start way earlier, but they need loads of light and warm temperatures. I start them indoors, then pot them on and grow them on in the greenhouse. Hope this helps!
Chanced upon this vlog and loved it. Subscribed so that I don't miss your future updates. Along with the commentary loved the videos. Out of curiosity, what camera equipment do you use?

I find your enthusiasm and joyful nature so lovely.
From a gardener in germany. Mash up great but everyday stuff also great. Love it all!
Thank you so much! That's great to know!
Thanks for the tour, Niall! We can feel spring coming here, too. So nice to see what's growing. Greetings from Denmark.

Thanks Ann! I'm really hoping it'll come together nicely this year
Wonderfully presented, Niall. I especially enjoy your transparency and honesty. Isn't it exciting to know Spring is on its way?

looking lovely! so happy to have you on our screens and see how spring blossoms in your garden 💚💚💚
It was last Wednesday I noticed it felt different in the garden. At long last spring is here.
I was so curious about the plants in the wheelbarrow 😂
All my lovely baby perennials - I can't wait to get them in the ground!
Im still planting spring bulbs. It will be a rout of colour for sure for me too.
