Entering the count down of days until we head into the boat yard, it dawned on us, that we will soon be leaving Thailand. Whilst we have sailed back and forth in this area for a number of years now, over the last 12 months we have not really been exploring.
See, Thailand is a great place to get boat work done and it seems that is all we have been doing!
With this information now in the fore front of our brains, we decided we needed to play tourist and go cruise the islands for a few days.
Many years ago Leonardo di Caprio and his Hollywood pals made the phi phi islands famous when they filmed the movie “the beach” in Maya bay.
Subsequently, these stunning islands and in particular “that beach” has now become the result of mass tourism where thousands of people will visit every day.
People flock in the hoards by long tail boats and larger ferries to witness this spectacular area and walk on the beach.
Although this is where being cruising sailors has its benefits.
Every day, those long tails and ferries must leave to take people back to their accommodation, leaving us sailboats alone to experience the serenity of Maya bay.
Before leaving Thailand, we thought it a must stop off, for one last time…

I was in Thailand for several months when The Beach was released. We watched it with a bunch of other backpackers in a restaurant on Ko Tao. Or maybe it was Ko Samui. We all ordered food and spread out on the floor with pillows. It was such a wonderful time that I will never forget. Thailand is the most magical place I have ever been. The people, the food, the scents and feeling of the place is just pure magic

Koh Phi Phi was when my dreams about sailing begun! During my stay there, in a singing competition, I won a mini cruise on a catamaran sailing on sunset around Koh Phi Phi Leh. I was sold! Got back home bought a boat and begun to learn sailing. I have sweet memories from Maya bay and diving not fra from there. Thanks for bringing back so many memories from this episode.

For my dog, I glassed all sides of a 4mm plywood with a 4cm frame and glued on a thin fake lawn carpet. On the bottom I glued some pieces of yoga mat and attached some rope.
Even on passage it does not slip n slide and after she made her business, I can simply toss it overboards and it basically cleans itself.
I like this idea.. the fake grass straight on the deck leaks and you have to clean it off anyway so this is much better!
Where else could you get such a great suggestion. Sailors rock!
@@FrothLyfeSailingNandji the general idea came from an old sailor, who used a Turkish carpet with a rope knotted to 2 corners. Same principle, but I was not keen that the nuggets could roll off of it into the cockpit 😁

Gday guys, Its like anywhere Phi Phi and maya bay were places in heaven 31 years ago when I started travelling there, in my view one of the best countries in the world. I remember u guys saying u were never going to go there due one thing or another back in day but as sailors things change, u must be rapped u expeirinced it . fair winds

Get a piece of artificial grass and a large plastic tray place the grass on organic kitty litter in the tray on the bow for Marley then the litter will absorb the moisture and the grass can just be hosed off separate for solids.
I finally figured out who you remind me of with your hair cut. You probably don't know them but Sonny and Cher. you look like Sonny. Can you get a patch of fake grass and put by the back of the boat so Marley can do his business and then you can wash it off. and it won't mess with the Teak.🤔🤔 wow that is a very big jelly fish. Wow there are people/boats at 6:30am. I can't /wouldn't get up and be going to a crowded beach at that time in the morning.

Sand tray with cover so sand not go everywhere and scoop over board? Like a shallow tub with lid, he tells you when he wants to go.. or simply tarp set on tie to whatever but so wee not go out so lift 1 end up

There is an old statistical 'myth' called wisdom of the masses. Goes back to English County Fairs. The crowds were told to guess the weight of an Ox. At the end of the fair the Ox was weighed and the closest guess won the Ox. I forget who it was, but they asked for all of the slips submitted and the average was remarkably close. This person went to several Fairs and found the same results. It would be interesting if you took all of the guesses on the number of screws and see if the average is close.
