For me one of the things I realized I needed when self-shooting was an eye-focus point; something I could move around and use as an eye-target when I wasn’t supposed to be looking into the camera. That way I could adjust in practice shots and not end up reflexively looking at the camera or in random directions. I’ve finally got backgrounds at home for future cosplay stuff as well. Here’s to making my self-shoots look as good as yours do!
