@HK-gw2ew Measured weight in oz. You can use grams as well, but you will need to measure everything in grams then. For soapmaking, everything has to be measured in weights. Thanks !
I made Aleppo type soap and Castile soap as well but I prefer the Aleppo type. They both have to cure for a year but I noticed mine even after a year ( Castile one) is still slimy and I don’t like it. Good seller though specially for babies. I use ice cubes to avoid fumes and poure the butter agains the spatula to decrease bubbles
Thanks for sharing this! I always cure my olive oil soaps for a year also. I mostly make 100% OO soap when I make Breastmilk Soaps. Gentle for babies! I never tried Aleppo soap yet. I will check it out! Thanks!
I only have to wait 4 to 5 weeks for mines. Who is waiting a yr on soap😮. If you use a different oil you don't have to wait that long and if you take away some lye and add citric acid it hardens much faster.
To quicken cureing add glycerine. The glycerine also prevents separation. I saw this last night on Elly's Everyday Soap Making. I like your method better.
Interesting! I didn't know about using Glycerin for curing. Thanks for sharing! And I am happy to hear you liked my soapmaking method. I appreciate it! 🙏🏽
Hi! I never tried Aloe vera juice, but yes, you can substitute it for water. Make sure you freeze it to mix lye, so it keeps its benefits and does not just burn. Try a small batch first. I hope it helps.
Please use soap calculator to calculate a recipe specific to your needs. Here is a link to "Most used free soap calculator tutorial"- ua-cam.com/video/-m2qcMm5C8c/v-deo.html . If you have any questions, let me know!
Hi! You can use 1 tsp per pound of oils In this recipe, you can use 1 tsp of oat flour as I am using 16oz (1 lb) of oils. I suggest you dissolve it first in a little bit of water and then add right before stick blending. Nothing needs to be changed.
How long we can store it?? Does this need any preservetive?? And,,if i melt it with water and use as a facewash, does this need preservetive or is it okay to use as a facewash ? Please reply!
Hi! A true soap stays good for years. Castile soap is good to use as long as you don't see any spots of rancid oils or anything weird growing on it (which mostly likely will never happen if you used a soap calculator to calculate all ingredients & followed all the steps). A lot depends on what oils you use. Castile soap is very gentle on skin, but I would suggest curing it for a year. Yes, you can use it as a face wash if your skin handles it well. Try it once & see how you feel. No, you don't need a preservative in your soap. Disclaimer- Soap should be made properly. If you won't follow directions properly (e.g., mixing wrong proportions of ingredients) & make a soap that is lye heavy or separated, it can burn your skin. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions. I hope I did not scare you with lye heavy scenario but hey, it happens. Just don't use a soap that does not look or made right. Thanks!
Yes, but run it through the soap calculator to get accurate measurements. I have a Bastille soap tutorial that has olive oil and coconut oil. Here is the link- ua-cam.com/video/XOKMxde1qpI/v-deo.htmlsi=yI-vbzh1LiOpTCgm
Unfortunately not! You will have to run your recipe through soap calculator. If you need help with that, you can watch this video- ua-cam.com/video/-m2qcMm5C8c/v-deo.htmlsi=UHLYlN3XCthvgszb If you need a coconut oil soap recipe, I have this tutorial- ua-cam.com/video/3t3LMXEty6o/v-deo.htmlsi=TMM_qHwhzktkGado Let me know if you have any other questions. Happy soaping 🧼:)
Please cure for atleast 6 months! I know it's longer than usual soaps. If you're interested in a shorter cure time soap, you can use this recipe- ua-cam.com/video/XOKMxde1qpI/v-deo.htmlsi=HvN_XeYMPocVdxva
No, Olive oil pomace will actually say "pomace" on the can or bottle. I personally have not seen pomace in regular grocery store. I buy it in bulk from webstaurant.com
Hi ! 1 year is the preferred time by most soapmakers, but you can use it after 8 weeks. Castile soap is generally very slimy when you use it too soon. That's why everyone waits long time for it to cure but you can always try your soap bar at different times and see how you like it. I hope it helps.
No, I will not suggest that. Two reasons- 1. Keep soap making and kitchen tools separate. 2. In case a soap batter accelerates, it can get stuck. It will be a big headache to get it out. Also, it can be dangerous as you may cut your hand by trying to get the stuck soap out. Also, I never tried using a mixer, so don't know if that will even work.
My mix didn’t turn white, it kept greenish.. did you use extra virgem oil?? I’m so confused lol anddd if I end up not liking this recipe, how can I use this soap I made?
Color of the soap depends on the type of Olive oil used. Either way, it will be fine if you used recipe accurately. Leave it to cure and dry place for about 6 months and then try again. Castile soap gets better with time. Longer it cures, better it gets.
Cocoa powder- yes. You can use 1tsp per pound of oils. Neem oil- No, not in this. You will need to make a new recipe to use neem oil in soap. This ensures that you're using right amount of lye and other ingredients.
Yes, it is called curing. Generally, 6-8 weeks is enough time to cure a soap, but for this particular soap (100% Olive Oil), you need to leave it to cure for 1 year or it will be very slimy. I hope it helps!

is this soap foaming? I would like to test it for my body.
It will foam better once it is cured for a long time which is 1 year. In the beginning 100% OO is pretty slimy.
Thank u geetha garu
Is the lye mesured in weight or volume oz
@HK-gw2ew Measured weight in oz. You can use grams as well, but you will need to measure everything in grams then. For soapmaking, everything has to be measured in weights. Thanks !
Thanks geeta, you made this so straightforward i will definitely give this a try.
Second time making this recipe and I love it!

Thank you so much for listing the recipe❤❤

1 year wtf
Wait one year before you can use it ? Like 365 days type 1 year
You can use this recipe if you don't want to wait 1 year. ua-cam.com/video/XOKMxde1qpI/v-deo.htmlsi=9_1UCcByhDBzJ8mK

Beautiful video, Thank you! Informative, instructional, concise. If only more creators followed your model...😳
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for sharing. I can’t wait to try.

Hey!! Please make a video for glycerin soap..
Thank you. I will try making it.
Let me know how did it come out. You can also try "Bastille soap". That takes less time to cure than Castille soap. 🙂
Thank you for your video!
Thanks for sharing.
You are welcome! :)
Geeta, thank you for this video. A newbie here. I have a question. Can you always substitute aloe vera juice for distilled water for the lye solution?
Hi! I never tried Aloe vera juice, but yes, you can substitute it for water. Make sure you freeze it to mix lye, so it keeps its benefits and does not just burn. Try a small batch first. I hope it helps.
Could please convey the measurements for 200 g soap if we include all the items and also how much gram of additives is preferred?

Can i add essential oil?
Yes you can. Make sure you check manufacturer's recommended usage amount and use accordingly.
Hi
Can I add coconut butter to make the soap more foamy
Yes, but run it through the soap calculator to get accurate measurements. I have a Bastille soap tutorial that has olive oil and coconut oil. Here is the link-
ua-cam.com/video/XOKMxde1qpI/v-deo.htmlsi=yI-vbzh1LiOpTCgm
is this soap foaming? I would like to test it for my body.
Yes, in the beginning it will be slimy. After long cure, it will be good.
thank you for sharing! isn’t it going to make the skin feel greasy though, coz of the oil in it?
No, it wouldn't. It's a soap after this process. 🧼
@@CraftwithGeeta thank you :)
Can we use only coconut oil & castor instead of olive oil..
Unfortunately not! You will have to run your recipe through soap calculator.

You can but look up different recipes, they’re on here/UA-cam 😊
Is it good to apply on ur body?
It is good to wash your body
Which is the best coconut oil or olive oil is harder it melts less and foams more.
Sorry I didn't understand your question!
The main question is, which oil makes soap better, coconut oil or olive oil, which lathers better and melts a little harder??.
Coconut oil soap will lather a lot and will be hard too, in my opinion. Olive oil soap is hard too, but lathers less.
What is the curing time for this soap? Thank you

Is olive oil pomace the same olive oil one can buy at Walmart or BJ’s?
No, Olive oil pomace will actually say "pomace" on the can or bottle. I personally have not seen pomace in regular grocery store. I buy it in bulk from webstaurant.com
After the year only we used this castile soaps right

Did you give measurements?
I have the soap recipe listed in the description. 🙂
Ok I saw that could see measurements thanks for your videos 🙂
Got it thank you
I need the measurements
Where is the description box for the measurements?
Here is the recipe I used -
Olive oil pomace- 16oz
Distilled water - 4oz
Sodium hydroxide- 2.04oz
Greetings. Can I add powders to this formula?
Yes, you can add 1 tsp/pound of oils.
Can you put the oil into the water and lye?
Will it ruin it?
No, you should always add oils to the lye water mixture & not the other way around.
Can we add coco power or neem here.??
Cocoa powder- yes. You can use 1tsp per pound of oils.
Neem oil- No, not in this. You will need to make a new recipe to use neem oil in soap. This ensures that you're using right amount of lye and other ingredients.

@@CraftwithGeetainsanity..1 year what the hell
@otiel9165 it is what it is! You can use it in 4 weeks, but you won't like how it feels on skin.

How long is the cure time?
I will suggest atleast 6 months. Most soapmakers suggest 1 year.
Men’s Shaving Soap Please
Interesting idea! I will give it a try! 🙂
Hi, what is the super fat percentage of this soap please?
Hi! I kept the superfat at 5%. Thanks!
Thank you! I will try it!
That's great! Let me know how did it come out? 😀
Please 🙏 give us the measurements
Hi! Measurements are mentioned in the description. Thanks!
Can you write the recipe with gram not oz
It can be converted from oz to grams using Google.
Why isnt your soap green like other soaps i seen
It could be affected by the type of Olive oil used. I use Olive oil pomace. If someone uses extra virgin OO, it could be a different color.
BTW I just checked and didn't find any green castille soap.
Propotion of naoh and h2o
Recipe is in pinned comment!
Hi mesherments plz
Measurements are in the pinned comment 🙂
Real olive oil is green? Why is this oil yellow? Must be rancid or an olive oil blend.
Olive oil pomace!
