Well I am the wool person so do not work with anything but different kinds of wool. Last year I knitted a beautiful cardigan for my daughter. Different kinds of cables and moss. Used two strands of 50gr/110m merino and the result was gorgeous. Soft elastic and warm. Good luck ladies!
Afternoon Sheila you certainly make sure everyone gets exactly what they want you are a ⭐️ star sorry I couldn’t help with the Aran yes KC is nearly £5 a ball . Have you been James B Brett site they have lovely wool it might be cheaper I only paid £2 a ball for there Misty dk which took 4 balls for me with some left. I hope you enjoyed your lunch and hot cuppa speaking lol of which I think it’s time for a cuppa and knitting 🧶 hope you sort out your wool I know you will . Ordered the Aran from Lovecraft Sandra, Stylecraft Aran, got a good bargain in their sales as well as a voucher i forgot, i had last day left on it, so all good now and sorted, back to my knitting now, could have had the sleeve finished by now 🤗

Finding just the right yarn can seem like such a task at times. It's cutting into all of your knitting and crochet time!

Try Lovecraft for Aran and chunky, they have a sale on now. Hope this helps!
Hi sheila I think aran is roughly 10 ply which might me why 2 strands of dk don't make aran weight yarn as dk is 8 ply. I've a few very old balls of chunky yarn weight yarn but they call it "double double" so I reckon 2 strands of dk would work well as a chunky substitute
I thought my test pieces were knitting up more like chunky Callum was having to keep using larger needles..🤗

I meant to add that unfortunately when you do a google search they all tell you that it 2 DK strands =Aran weight so I am glad this video and your reply have given me a resounding “no it doesn’t” thankyou

Afternoon shiela, I’m currently working up a cardigan in aran, using a 25% wool 75% acrylic and I’m surprised it’s quite soft still even with the wool. I did have a big ball of acrylic aran from Aldi but that’s a bit tricky because it only gets sold so often! Fun fact about aran is it was used for fisherman’s cable jumpers originally, wonder if that’s why it’s all darker colours!!

I agree with hobby craft is too expensive , and it’s not really much better , hope you get it right in the end
I'm currently using aran which I got a couple of weeks ago from Wilko. It's cream with some black/brown flecks which is knitting up really lovely. £3.25 for 200gm which I think is quite reasonably priced. Acrylic 97% 3% fleck
Wilco's wool is a very reasonable price Diane i have used it quite a lot and it is very good too..

Hi Sheila I thought 2 strands of d k would work for aran i suppose its using the right needles that matters as well as tension, you are so patient sorting things out, I'm sure you will sort it you usually do in the end x
Double knitting is not all the same thickness Susan, just ordered off Lovecraft in the end..🤗
Dk is 8ply Aran is 10ply....so how could 2 x dk knit as aran?

I'm making a advent calendar and it say aran but I only use dk so canni use 2 double knit to make calender thanks ❤
You could use 2 strands of DK but will probably be a bit thicker than Aran, if you had any 4ply that with 1 strand of DK would be nearer the thickness of Aran, Aran is 10ply so 4ply and DK together will be 12ply 2 DK is 16ply..

EBay has some good yarn sometimes. I buy a lot from there as there is only 1 yarn shop in my area although I do sometimes buy from him but just to support the local business.
Hayfield Aran from eBay is a good price.

Is Stylecraft expensive? It looks like great yarn. And I love the clip(?) holding your hair up. I can’t find anything like it. I love your videos and looks for them every day.

DK is 8 ply, so two strands make it 16 ply. You want 10ply. Gonna be huuuge.
