Joey 🤘Founding member of Slipknot. RIP ❤️
Right, founding member or not, his maniacal playing was what made the band "Slipknot" no offense to the newer members. Shawn was better at directing, art and smacking a beer keg.
i agree, Jay is an absoloutely amazing drummer but Joey very much had his own sound which was an intergeral part of what Slipknot was, he influenced countless drummers and had more of an impact on Slipknot as a band and heavy music in gerenal than Shawn ever will.
Joey literally WAS Slipknot along with Paul, after they were gone the band went downhill quick. Clown has always been the most irrelevant member.
He’s most significant contribution to the band is literally a Minecraft server
Yeah lost any interest in slipknot after AHIG to be honest. The song writing definitely isn’t what it used to be.
of course songwriting is different when principal song writer is dead . both of them
Crahan talking about ego is comical
But who could beat a barrel with a baseball-bat, if clown wasn‘t there?
Every Sunday morning I watch this guy With a cup of coffee
I loved the intro riffs, that drum track is sick! Im doing the riff challenge this week, I miss doing them! Love your work, Ola!🤘
That burned wood guitar looks smashingly awesome!!. Well done on this episode Ola. Look forward to next weeks.
Excellent adventures! Thanks for letting us in on some early morning fun! Rock on! 🤘🎸
The Grady episode on deans channel was amazing man so glad that popped up in my recommended the other day
Damn your composing is so good ola! That intro was sick!!
The anxiety I got watching that washburn head stock almost hit the full stack was nutz lol. Thank you Ola for bringing out that monster setup man. It is what dreams are made of man! I also have a pantera pick my cousin gave me from a Pantera Concert from the late 90s
You make my Sundays rip 🤘🏻😎 Thank you Ola 🤘🏻🇨🇦
That Randall amp and Washburn sound killer Ola! Fuckin def has that dime tonality. 🤘🎸
Awesome stuff Ola, thanks for sharing 🤘🏻
I saw Kitty in Providence, Rhode Island, hung out on their bus with them after the show they’re wicked cool
missing kitty, good times
@@franfender new song is pretty cool, gives me Chimaira vibes
Hell yeah does!! I can’t wait till the full album comes out🔥🔥🔥
You playing the Randall was Awesome. I think its so cool how Dime influenced you so much. Even thou I was in my early 20's when Pantera made their major label debut, he influenced me also. I started watching you after I saw the video of you going to Texas. Seeing his grave, Vinnie's too, I started crying man. Then you going to his house. That meant a lot to you. I could tell. I was tears all the way. Love ya Brother. Keep on kickin ass!!
pretty sincere comment bro 🙌🙏🙏😇
Always a great time! 🤘
That new Kittie song hit me also man! That riff is just mean as hell and Morgans vocals sound great!
That intro guitar is beautiful
It is absolutely incredible how amazing those Randall amps sound with just a lil something infront of it.
Excellent intro! Great job as usual!
Hahaha Pixel is awesome...
Great to see Kittie back! They were always much more than nu-metal... They had a thrashy doomy vibe even back then, and this looks like it fucking smashing!
Tool and Down I'm looking forward to their new albums. Kitties Funeral for Yesterday was in my opinion their best Album 😾👽✌
Hell yeah, kittie is legit
I love Kittie! Down as well! The first 2 albums my dad gave me that started my metal journey was Spit and Hellbilly Deluxe by Rob Zombie.
@@brandonmartin08 can you imagine how hellbilly deluxe evolved heavy metal music for like over a decade heavy club based techno death metal was everywhere static x etc.
Especially Down. Phil has been impressive lately. I always loved hearing Pepper Kennan and Kirk playing guitar and trading solos with each other. A truly underrated band especially for the members they have.
if you can, get to a down show - saw them locally and in vegas at house of blues (which was a great venue for the show and IIRC the footage from ghosts on the mississipi video was from those shows) and it's a hella good time. Phil tends to monologue a *lot* less during Down shows, which is nice; his voice has greatly recovered, which is even nicer!
Kittie f*cking slays!! Welcome back ladies! ❤
I miss the swedish word of the day 😅
Riff must be technical. Tongue's out. lol concentration level 150%
Ola, a talkback mic on your desk to call for an assistant in times of dire thirst/coffee refill could be a fun addition to the show. Just a thought
effin beautiful guitar!
Hahaha the where the Slime lives impersonation 😂
KITTIE 🤘🏼 awesome return
Morbid Angel toured with Pantera in 2001 on the Extreme Steel Tour before they broke up. Tool tickets are not cheap. Morgan in Kittie has a great voice.
That was a great show BTW lol and I'd seen MA before but not in that large of a venue.
@@russellzauner Yeah, Wayne from Static-X was alive. MA opened up for everybody on the ticket.
Ola that song at the beginning was so beautiful you are are truly a guitar legend
That Randall sounded badass!
Gibson looks great, shame it's the most uncool guitar brand now.
😂 Shut up
Its a good thing I don’t care whats cool
Uncool? I’d say overpriced instead.
@@diabeticmonkey uncool, overpriced, unethical.
That is funny about the extreme vocals. My cat likes that stuff. She did a song in her band called "Arrrrr Rawrrrrrr Rarrrrrrr"
I bet it sounds better than Kittie.
i seen kittie at harpos bar in detroit around 2004 .. they kick a** ......i'm seeing pantera for the first time on feb 20
Same. I also saw them a couple years before that as well when my friends band played with them at Harpos. Deaf Union lol.
Lol, I just came across Dean's youtube channel last week, and also his podcast on Spotify. Some really good listening. Definitely a good suggestion!
1:39 Holy Sh.i! What an outro!
Probably not going to happen! Making a less paul shape is totally cool, but an SG is somehow out of the realms of possibility? How now, Ola?
Re the SOLAR SG:
Just take the G type and copy/paste the existing cut on the bottom to the top where the pickup selector is. I would buy that in a second.
It seems the only guitar shapes you and the brand really get behind are the S, X and V shapes which are all fine but some of us in the metal world like the LP and SG shapes. I would also instabuy a T shaped bass. Nearly all basses are S shapes and it's so fucking dull.
17:31 that's an old school segment, i love it...
Kittie wasnt wildly popular amongst the boys in the late 90's but they were always my little guilty metal pleasure like 311 is my 90's rock guilty pleasure.
Thanks brother keep picking.
So are we getting new The Haunted music soon if they hve just launched the Merch Shop? 🤔
The triple humbucker on the SG is also the 2nd dual humbucker, Ola. :)
John Petrucelli
Thank you for this
I need Ola's pedal shelving! I wonder if they're custom built or something that can be ordered?
Intro was sick asf.
That Randall RGT 100 sound's fooking amazing. The Chug is real and i imagine Darrell would have a goodnight grin hearing you play it!
can you share your process of coming up with riffs .
as i am a beginner i find my guitar playing very disconnected with the drums . any tips
Here is one idea:
Loop one drum part you like and start "drumming" on your desk, like it's a percussion instrument. The goal is not to mirror the drums, but find a groove that works with them.
Now that you got a groove, play it as palm mutes and experiment with it. Play notes an octave up, add some melodic notes, ... Just try different things while staying in the groove.
You'll know when you found something, because it's going to feel right and you want to play it more. That's when you get into the flow and that's where you want to be.
Don't be afraid to scrap ideas. Not every idea can be a winner.
Recording yourself certainly helps, since you can focus on listening and even rearrange things with little effort.
Ultimately you want to get a feeling and that takes practice, so just keep at it
And as my mentor always said: go with the flow and keep it simple. We covered the flow already and "easy" is everything you can do without thinking about it too much.
Love that new Axe you're playing. Haven't seen that one before.
Your office space looks sick! I could spend all day just checking stuff out that's just laying around. Picks is so sweet, she loves it there!
Oh… I see where the back issues come from.
Ola, use the green background to make your videos. You can have an live audience, a wall of 100 Marshalls, the crew of Baby Metal, etc.
Thank you for reading out loud a metal injection article. really interesting comments you made.
I own one of those older sg supremes, the 24 frets turn a gold medalist neckdiver into a world record neckdiver
19:27 sounds awesome 🔥🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🔥🔥
Who cares if Joey was one of the founding members or not: Cliff Burton wasn't the original Metallica bass player either, but he was one of those who made Metallica great and had a great influence on the entire metal genre. The same goes for Joey - his unique sound was an important part of Slipknot's success and he influenced a new generation of metal drummers.
The way the leading members of Slipknot now treat the rest of the band's musicians, firing them right and left and downplaying the roles of ex-members, is extremely disappointing.
Without an explanation, too. Why did the band not comment Jay’s firing? The fans want the truth about who they are paying their money to. I feel like they are hiding something. This is Corey and Shawn, mainly. Jim and Mick have been strangely silent, aswell.
That Pyro is gorgeous...
My favourite remains the red & gold you use a lot as well, but this baby?...
Oh yes.
Love the pedal shelves!! Where did you get those? As always I am loving your Sunday with Ola videos. Coffee, Ola, puppy cuddles…life.
IKEA MAN!
Ola... My brotha... That guitar dude... is so friggin beautiful I have literally died and went so far into heaven my farts sing in maj7 chords... The burned "au naturale" is true chefs kiss🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
Too bad I'm lefty😢
Fun fact Kiko is a lefty! But plays a right handed guitar.
@@iLLuzion1st I Kno, but he started playing righty... I've been playing lefty for 20+ years, playing righty is just...🤦
I don’t know why. But that intro Jam made me think of Twelve Foot Ninja.
That wording of that article on the Gibson SG's may not be the greatest. There's three new SG's with 2 humbuckers, and one new SG Supreme with 3 humbuckers.
So there was this article Ola covered. Then Marty reached out claiming it was fake AI news, then probably Guitar world reach out saying it was real and not AI. So either it was fake news or Marty regretted what he said. Either way, not nice of Marty to pull Ola into this.
Dude ola out of all your GUITARS I like this one the most it's one of the most gorgeous guitars I've ever seen ❤❤❤ I'm completely blown away bro 🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟💯😝😝🎸🎸
Ola I realize how far the channel has come I was around when it was very small ibanez days and so on sheeeesh almost 1 mil now keep it moving
Oh man even my back was hurting when I saw you with the amplifier. Plz watch your back and ask help whenever heavy weight goes above your shoulders. Don't learn the hard way. I did once. Loved the show as usual. ❤
Kevin Nelson was the man who designed the Randall RGT 100 and the Century 200 amp
Dean's interview with Grady was so good. Can't wait for the other guests!
DAE duallity dx is my favorite boost/noise gate tool !!!
that Randall ... wheels... looks really stable!
Riff at the beginning is killer!
It's really hard to explain what you're watching when Ola makes these noises.... XD
The tubes sound dirty. Pull them out and clean the pins. Buzzes too much.
Gotta love Ola shredding before 9am!
I had bought the new Les Paul Supreme last year. Beautiful guitar and played well. A few minor cosmetic imperfections, but the pick-ups were extremely microphonic and uncontrollable, so it went back.
Hey Ola, aré you using the dji osmo camera when playing the amp??
Holy shit Ola, how many cups of coffee did you have before shooting this? LOL
We love you man 🙂
Ola i wish you taught a guitar course! I want to be able to rip like you man!
I love that riff in Bury Your Dead.
I get bad reflux too, apple seed vinegar in water helps apparently.
Another great into song!
Ola, The Haunted got me through a few years of hard time.
At this point slipknot is just getting ridiculous with all the drama. Show was good and we appreciate you ola.
Just think about Viper esp. Modern take on the classic SG shape. Solar can do its own take.
I'm excited for Ola to see Tool. It's a sonic and visual treat! The best tip for going to a Tool show is do NOT try to sit close to the stage. Sit straight back so that you can view the entire visual experience. Nothing is happening on the stage, they're very low energy players, but the graphics are awesome.
Man, this guitar is sick🤘🏻
Kittie is amazing! Mercedes is one of the best drummers in metal
Kittie are fucking amazing! Their material still holds up really well. Saw Poppy covering Spit in Manchester a few days ago for the finale and it absolutely wiped the floor! Very heavy
I just did one of those "uuulllleeeeaaaaagggghhhh Ola!" Comments on the Marty/Guitar World issue that you spoke about but, after careful consideration (from watching a bit more of the video), I got sense and deleted it.
Also, yay! I love when the intro features a guitar solo. Everyone loves the riffs including myself but, when it comes to metal, solos always have a special place in my heart. I'd rather have a mediocre solo than none at all. Your's was not mediocre btw. It was quite tasty. 😊
Getcha Pull 🤘
That red SG supreme looks beastly
My 1 st song o f Morbig Angel was .. "Thy Kingdom come" from the vinyl .. my friend Stephane from Loudblast give me some live show from too, that was the tape-trading from this area ... I had the luck to be the Loudblast roadies at a belgium show where they played with Morbid Angel ..same thing happen with a Napalm Death show ...they're as great as human being as their music was brutal (and I was already a fan since their beginning ) same with the Atrocity guy A fantastic area ... Take take Ola ;)
They did SGs with those burst in like 2005ish.a few different ones.
Probably one of the most chaotic Sunday with Ola's ever! 😂
Tried to order a shirt from The Haunted shop, but couldn't find my country on the list. Is there another way to get a Made Me Do It shirt in 'Murica?
as a long time sub I've always wondered what Ola's opinion on deathcore is
HOLYYYYYYY HOLYYYYYYY HOLYYYYYYY HOLYYYYYYY HOLYYYYYYY HOLYYYYYYY HELL...... THAT'S THE FIRST TIME I'VE EVER HEARD KITTY
"What I always wanted" was a great Kittie song. Seems like the original lead singer is back with this lineup. Good!
Danny Carey being 62 is mind blowing. I didn't realize he was that age since he had such power in his drums on fear
I love that doggy!
Paul Grey and Joey Jordison was The Real Slipknot, only thing clown did is came up with mask and said he wanted to be biggest band in the world but all the work was Paul and Joey so truthfully the real creator of slipknot was Paul Grey he was writing the guitar riffs the songs Corey didn't write Sic or Surfacing Paul wrote them and Cosefine just sang them
He’s been gone for so long that people have sadly forgotten that he wrote a majority of the hits. Dude was a prolific writer.
Your angry member sound imitation reminds me of South Park’s angry japanese characters 😂
