I’ve been a fan of Scott & Melanie for a while but it’s so cool to see 4 different styles for watercolour (&gouache). Everyone was so kind in their teaching, it’s actually got me excited to try watercolour.
It's so very exciting to see some of our favorite artists coaching each other in such a supportive way! We're not at all surprised that Sarah got such good results, with her incredible talent and the quality of instruction we saw here. One thing all of these instructors have in common is the ability to communicate the most sophisticated painting concepts in a way that removes the intimidation factor and makes every lesson seem achievable. Scott, we'll see you on Monday for your live stream!
29:07 this is the problem i ALWAYS have with watercolors, especially on skin tones!! Edited Update: I think when I get to this point, I get too scared to go too dark! And it's the going darker at this point that I think saved your painting.
I've been watching Scott Christian Sava for a little while now. The algorithm blessed me for some reason. It's really nice to see him talk through the processes with you. This is a brilliant video. Great stuff! Also shout out to the Artistic Bear brushes seen in the wild.
Watercolor has been a very dip my toes in first type of medium for me but i absolutely love the graphic style that comes from Scott's style. I enjoy doing graphic novel characters and this really makes me think i could actually dabble more with watercolors. I've only ever used watercolor markers and pencils. Seeing you go out of your comfort zone and try a different medium from pros at it has given me confidence to try this medium
Loved all the projects you did Sarah, they all turned out so well! I think of all the mediums you tried, I would have to say that I am most intrigued with the gouache and that cute little mushroom!
I had appreciated very these techniques from those artists that I am watching for so long, I am having a better understanding about those paintings techniques. TKY a lot for sharing me these techniques from you as a beginners who love to try different mediums in your art! From Quebec in Canada 🇨🇦, ❤😊
Oooh! That’s how Scott does his art. Maybe I can get into watercolor his way. Watercolor was always my enemy in Highschool Art, so I’m even scared to touch acrylic or oil paint. 😅😂
I adore (and am a complete sucker for) watercolour paintings. Something about it just speaks to me so much more than oils or acrylic. However, I'm not really an artist, so I've never tried watercolours. After watching this, and having just bought NerdECrafter's watercolour colouring pages kit, I really want to try it and have fun with it.
I think watercolour is way more relaxing , stress free and forgiving !! While in acrylic you are frustrated the most time !! I started my painting journey with acrylics and now I love watercolours !!😊😊 amazing videos learned a lot
My favourite was the portrait, perhaps because it was based on your own drawing style yet took a risk. I think it worked to create a striking art piece that was more than a duplication of someone else's style.
Just watched the American art supply haul and it’s so funny because I just moved to florida but I grew up about 10 miles from that Art Supply Warehouse. My husband and I used to go there when he was in Architecture classes at the local Community College. In fact we bought his drafting table there. (CAD software was in its infancy. I’m old what can I say). I was surprised she didn’t see a bunch of the craft stuff she liked at Michael’s at Hobby Lobby. They have the inks and stickers and stuff. And yes we love Bob Ross because he’s so soothing. I remember his show when I was a kid. Again I’m old.
Honestly, I just love Kristy. She's just lovely and encouraging and her no rules rule is great. Plus, the way she swatches new colors is so unique. I love listening to her while I fold my laundry 😅😅
I'm sluggish and hate to clean up the paint after using it and I create a big mess while painting... so pencils are my go-to option. I really love all your videos and how you experiment and knowing that someone like you, who is so talented and well-versed in using pencils is also an amateur in painting is letting me know I'm not alone... and it's so nice to see how your learning very well and how well you can do, even though this is your first time.... my first time was a disaster.
For your information, I am the same as I hate cleaning afterwards so that's why I love watercolors and gouache. Both media are water soluble and very easy to clean with water right after you finish your art session. It is an absolutely charm and that's the reason I now more often choose these over acrylics or oils. You might want to give it a try someday!
My shocked face when I saw Scott here!! He is such a gem and such a wholesome person to be with. Good roster choice Sarah, I'll be keeping an eye on these artists because all are such wonderful people and wonderful artists, including you. Best wishes from the UK.
It’s so hard to believe you were new to all three mediums, your pieces turned out stunning. 😍 Your little mushroom is just adorable.. It had so much depth to it! 🥹
Love that you teamed up with other artists in this way. Was really cool to see you learning from them 1 on 1. Would love to see this type of project again, with you learning other new art/craft skills. Your approach to learning has reinvigorated my desire to jump back into art.
What a great exploration of color and mediums! I already follow Kristy, but i have 3 new artists to add to my watch list! I appreciate the way you try new things- it encourages me to do the same.
As usual an inspirational video that show cases why taking risks and conquering fears can be beyond rewarding! Thanks for show casing some other amazing creators for us to binge too! 💜💜
Absolutely gorgeous pieces all around. You did so well for the short dabbles you had. Favorite is probably the bright flowers, but they are all really well done.
I’ve seen a lot of Josie’s videos and some of Kristy’s, Josie does a very nice watercolour palette too. It’s interesting to see all their techniques, I’m especially intrigued by the watercolour as it’s my favourite but it’s been feeling flat lately, it’s lovely to feel excited by it all again. Your art all turned out really good especially the floral piece with all the colours.
Sarah,in the process i saw how you was growing. I especially love the painting with lady,i love the way you layered en that contrast, just marvelous. I think you find your style, it’s amazing, just beautiful. You have do more those paintings, your style is very very beautiful, it's the outcome from what you already know from coloring with pencils and the 4 artist's you learned from. I am impressed. You rock, girl👍👍👍😁😁😁👌👌👌🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
Yay Sarah finally a watercolor video, it’s great! I’ve stopped working with coloring pencils a while ago and branched off into watercolor. I hope you continue to use watercolor and make more watercolor art and videos. Scott’s art was a revelation to me, I just subbed to his channel. There are many fantastic watercolor artists on YT. I’m excited to add you to that list and watch. Thanks! ❤
I already follow Kristy, and now follow three more artists today due to your art journey. It was fascinating watching you try new mediums. I think all of them turned out great, but my personal favorite was your second mushroom.
Thankyou for introducing us to 4 more amazing artists, I can't believe I haven't come across them before. I'm off to binge watch their videos and sub to them all. Thanks again for an awesome video xx
Yay! You learned so many different mediums in such a short amount of time and that's so cool! It was a really fun video to watch especially because you chose to show the different mediums not necessarily chronologically - like, you did your own water colour painting with Scott's method at the end. Especially your last watercolour painting is amazing. When I was about 12 years old I guess, I got my first set of water colour pencils by Faber Castel and that was indeed pre internet (I've got internet 2-3 years later) and pre UA-cam - that's how old I am already x'D But the thing is, I just had to experiment and use them on my own. Let me tell you - my first pieces did look nothing like yours. But that could also correlate with the lack of my experience as a growing artist in general :) It took me more time to handle them - But it was incredibly fun! My favourite medium is probably gouache too, which I got interested in 2018 and since then I just love to use them. I agree with you, that it is very important to discover different mediums without fear. Because every "fail" will also be the next opportunity to learn from the things that went wrong. At least that's what I get from your video :D I'm really looking forward to what you'll do in water colour or gouache in the future - or that very interesting chunky paints. I wonder if you could use them in a more refined and not so blobby way too :O Thanks for the video and thank you for sharing this part of your art journey :3 I'm looking forward to your next one.
Watercolour can be used to put as a base under the coloured pencils, provided you use little water/the paper is not too thin. Speeds up colouring similar to using markers :)
Wow they're all so individual I can't pick a favourite. I think the textured would be the most fun to paint. I think the flowers would be the most relaxing to paint. I think the portrait would be the most anxiety provoking in the process but most satisfying when it works out. The Whimsical gouache would be a useful learning technique. All in all a great video to watch on a tiring evening thank you
I tried to teach an acrylic painter how to use watercolor and without a doubt the #1 problem she had was not using enough water. It was a real struggle for her head to get around.
Yess!! I've recommended watercolour in the past and I'm happy that you enjoy it that much. For a beginner your pretty good😅 my first tries were disasters
This is so cool!! Thank you for recording and sharing this so we can all learn these fantastic tips and styles! All of the artists are so cool... it'll be fun to try these out myself too ❤
Sarah, you are Very talented andd smart. Ty for including us in this journey of discovery,. I find this VERY encouraging in that I could be this brave too and try new things!
Love love love Kristy Rice, she is so talented!, I watch her channel allot she got me started with watercolour :) She is so bubbly and full of energy its fantastic, love the painting you did with watercolour
I saw Kristy and I KNEW this was going to be awesome!! I LOVE her color palette!! And those BRUSHES!!! I have been using her as my watercolor teacher!! Josie, FABULOUS!! All of the artists were GREAT teachers and I have subscribed to them all!! Thank you for introducing them to us! My favorite of your paintings was your mushrooms!
I think the water color flower and rainbows and flower petals from the other next part and mushrooms mew^^ but i think all your work was beautiful and pretty and elegant and unique mew^^ and im going to watch there videos to because I love learning new things about art and new techniques from different artists mew^^ and its so much fun to learn new things mew^^ and I really love drawing and coloring and painting mew^^ and I hope you have wonderful morning and day and evening and afternoon and night mew🩷💙🩵💜💛🧡🌅🌄🏞🌌🪻🪷🌸🌺🍁🍀⚘️🌷🏵🌼💐🦋^^
Incredible this video 😃 Love the diversity of techniques ✨ My favorite was the use of paints with palette knives to create shapes and textures on the canvas 😮😃. I saw it relaxing. I love the two pictures you painted ❤ Very nice your watercolor portrait and if you add more layers it becomes more realistic or paint more details 👍✨ You should try painting with oil pastels because they use a lot of creative techniques 🤩
Wow! Your painting are absolutely amazing and definitely don't look like first attempts at the mediums. I love Josie and have followed her for ages so I really enjoyed seeing you learn from her and have a renewed desire to try the chunky painting myself. I also was especially impressed with your gouache mushroom and I'm going to have to spend some time checking out Melanie's channel as they seem like a great teacher.
With watercolors, while its wer, dusting it with salt, will also give it an awesome texture! Then you let it dry. Then you brush the salt off only once its dried. Its great for doing galaxies, night scenes, and underwater.....
You absolutely nailed that gouache painting the second go round. It looked like a printed cartoon. Think you could create some amazing pieces with that medium if you really leaned into it fully
Another great video, thanks Sarah. Loved all the paintings you did and what great teachers you had! Must check them out. I was soooo worried when you decided to add the dark background to the portrait! But it was the right choice.. I think my favourite is the mushroom but maybe the portrait..or..
What great idea to incorporate these 4 styles into a vid with your take on each one! So fun! The watercolor portrait is my fav. I have acquired 5-6 brands of watercolor pans + tubes, 2-3 brands of acrylic paint, some gouache, poster paints and multiple inks. Yet I seem to be buying, not trying. I do a lot of adult coloring and use multi media but make only itty-bitty, toe in the water attempts. I think you've inspired me to dive in! Thank you❣
Wonderful! I really wanted to see you try watercolor, and to think you learned from Kristy Rice, who is a fabulous watercolor-artist! I do not know the other artists, but am eager to learn to know their channels.
Eek! What an adventure! Well, several adventures really. I loved everything you did and can’t pick a favourite. I think I need to experiment more too. Thank you for all you do to make such amazing (and entertaining!) videos.
Absolutely loves this video. One of my faves. I already followed most of these people but I now follow the flower watercolour lady and look forward to binge watching some of her videos!
Another ambitious video! It was a cool idea to learn from other artist youtubers, & I look forward to you playing with these new mediums (as you feel like showing us) 😊
This was really neat to watch. I think I like the flower painting best, but they're all so beautiful, it's really hard to choose! Thank you for demonstrating how fun it can be to try new mediums and techniques, not to mention going out of our comfort zone!
What a great video!! I love Melanie's videos! I have taken many classes from them and watch every video on their channel! Gouache and Watercolor are my go-to's! Thanks for such an awesome video, it really was so nice to see you explore these mediums.
Bravo, Sarah! All of your pieces came out wonderfully!
I had SUCH a great time painting with you and look forward to doing so again really soon. ♥
Thank you Scott! I really enjoyed creating with you!
Meu Deus, meus 2 favoritos juntos! Estou no céu!!! ❤🎉
I love Sarah and Scott’s art, it is fabulous ❤️
Love your art scott
And you to sarah love your videos!!!
I’ve been a fan of Scott & Melanie for a while but it’s so cool to see 4 different styles for watercolour (&gouache). Everyone was so kind in their teaching, it’s actually got me excited to try watercolour.
Ma'am where have you been I miss you
if you do decide to try it remember always use 100% cotton paper if it ain't cotton paper it ain't watercolor paper lol
Thank you Temi. I'm a fan of your art as well. ♥
Ma'am, talking about gouache ... (unsubtle wink wink)
Had such a fantastic time painting with you!!!
Thank you for being such a wonderful teacher!
Hi kristy!!! ILOVE your vids!!!!!!!!!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤

Scott is a wonderful artist. I’m so happy you jumped in and tried something out of your depth!! Best wishes
29:07 this is the problem i ALWAYS have with watercolors, especially on skin tones!! Edited Update: I think when I get to this point, I get too scared to go too dark! And it's the going darker at this point that I think saved your painting.

Kristy should teach if she doesn't already! She explained things so well.
Watercolor has been a very dip my toes in first type of medium for me but i absolutely love the graphic style that comes from Scott's style. I love your picture 'Scott's Style' best. It feels like you were most comfortable with it.
I believe your final mushroom painting is my favorite of the video! It's so airy and whimsical!
Loved all the projects you did Sarah, they all turned out so well! I think of all the mediums you tried, I would have to say that I am most intrigued with the gouache and that cute little mushroom!
I had so much fun watching and learning together=3 Thank you, Sarah and all the wonderful teachers =3

Portrait is beautiful. I also liked everything you did. Looks like you’re a natural.💜
Oooh! That’s how Scott does his art. Maybe I can get into watercolor his way. Watercolor was always my enemy in Highschool Art, so I’m even scared to touch acrylic or oil paint. 😅😂
That floral is gorgeous! Can't believe it's your first watercolor

I love Scott's streams and art. I used to regularly hang out in his tiktok stream
Also incredible work 👏 🙌
Loved this so much!!! Thank you for taking us on your journey!
Your videos have a certain positivity to it which I enjoy and it makes me smile ❤
I think watercolour is way more relaxing , stress free and forgiving !! While in acrylic you are frustrated the most time !! I started my painting journey with acrylics and now I love watercolours !!😊😊 amazing videos learned a lot
Love them all, but the portrait at the end was my fave!
You know its going to be a masterpiece if 5 artists collab and share their styles 🫶🏻
Amazing! The flowers was my favorite but that palette knife painting were interesting!
You did an amazing job on all of those pieces & created a fabulous video! Thanks for having me, I had such a fun time painting & chatting with you 🥰
Thank you Melanie! Your advice was so helpful!
My favourite was the portrait, perhaps because it was based on your own drawing style yet took a risk. I think it worked to create a striking art piece that was more than a duplication of someone else's style.

@@meganesergerie5382 Sure, i have a bit of a history with watercolors but never properly tried it. Thank you.
My favourites are the portrait and the flowers.
Wow so many different art styles all beautiful 🤩
Watercolors, and I already follow Scott, he always amazed me.

So excited to see some new UA-camrs, and one artist I already knew and love. I have all of Josie Lewis's classes and puzzles.
Wow, those art pieces you’ve created are amazing! My favorite is the watercolor flowers and “the forbidden cake”. 😂
It’s so hard to believe you were new to all three mediums, your pieces turned out stunning. 😍
Your little mushroom is just adorable.. It had so much depth to it! 🥹
I legit screamed yes when I saw Scott’s art pop up
Love your channel! It gives me joy.

Each and every one of these pieces are wonderful! I can't really choose among them. Great work!
I love all these creators, and so fun to see them teach their various styles!! This is such a great concept for a video, Sarah! 😊
Wow I’m 12 yrs old and I wanna be js like u when I grow up :)
5:50 you are so AWESOME at learning new things. Hope you are feeling better ❤ Take care from Ohio 🇺🇸
I love the Mushroom and the Gouache the best, but I highly enjoy it all!
It's so fun to see you learn new skills and be introduced to youtubers we might not know in the process.

Can’t wait for you to try watercolor as a base for colored pencils. They work wonderfully together
Watercolour can be used to put as a base under the coloured pencils, provided you use little water/the paper is not too thin. Speeds up colouring similar to using markers :)
Love the format. Beautiful pieces. Well done. Love mushrooms 🍄 for some unknown reason 😅. 😊😊
You did great! All the pieces with different mediums turned out really well. You can always add gouache on top of watercolor.
Yes, Visual mind!
Great new artists to watch
Wow they're all so individual I can't pick a favourite. I think the textured would be the most fun to paint. I think the flowers would be the most relaxing to paint. I think the portrait would be the most anxiety provoking in the process but most satisfying when it works out. The Whimsical gouache would be a useful learning technique. All in all a great video to watch on a tiring evening thank you
I tried to teach an acrylic painter how to use watercolor and without a doubt the #1 problem she had was not using enough water. It was a real struggle for her head to get around.
Sarah is just talented all-around 🤯 She is truly an artist. Whatever medium she uses just works for her!!
Yess!! I've recommended watercolour in the past and I'm happy that you enjoy it that much.

Love the diversity of techniques ✨
My favorite was the use of paints with palette knives to create shapes and textures on the canvas 😮😃.

Very nice your watercolor portrait and if you add more layers it becomes more realistic or paint more details 👍✨
You should try painting with oil pastels because they use a lot of creative techniques 🤩
O my God, you got scott!! I love that man so much! Him and his wife are so freaken adorable
I love all the paintings but I really love the little mushroom picture! It turned out so great, especially for a first attempt!!
Incredible!
Wow. All of your pieces are amazing! I now have to go check out all of these artists as I would love to learn more. Thanx for the inspiration 💜
Wow! Your painting are absolutely amazing and definitely don't look like first attempts at the mediums. I love Josie and have followed her for ages so I really enjoyed seeing you learn from her and have a renewed desire to try the chunky painting myself.
