Fun fact about the blue, it comes from the non-photo colour blue sketches which don't show up when photocopied, allowing artists to scan their work without the sketch lines!
I love that this still works today. Scan it in, pull out all the blue in Photoshop, and you're good. It's also good for getting rid of blue lines from notebook paper
For those who are wondering where to get non copy pencils or leads, Pentel Multi 8 comes with 2 non copy leads one in red (diazo non copy) and other in blue (PPC non Copy). The leads are 2mm and you can buy them separately as refills instead of buying another pencil cartridge if you already own one.
Which explains why a lot of artists sketch in that color! I've heard about the non photo blue before but I'm just now realizing that is why a lot of artists use it for sketching! Before I just assumed that it was a personal preference, and I guess it still could be considered a personal preference, but now I know the reason behind it! Thanks for sharing! 😊
I just love artists supporting artists even if it's in small ways - wearing tenhuns shirt and using jazzas art box! Just love how wholesome the UA-cam art community is !!
My tip for alcohol markers is to use water-based medium for line work, and make sure it's dry. Vice versa if you're using 💧, use alcohol-based fineliners. Using same fineliners with your colouring medium will just try to blend and smear I find. Fantastic job on these btw. Enjoyed this
Really liked the pixel art piece. Definitely do a black marker challenge. I would aldo like to see you master hair and fur then maybe do a different ways to colour/approach hair/fur study.
That was one of my favorite too! I love pixel art in all its forms... but I am a fiber artist, so a lot of what I do is piecing "pixels" together in one form or another.
My recommendation with the word drawing as someone who has done a massive one for an assignment (poster sized) is the key to make the shadows look like shadows is either use different tools like pen and pencil in the lighter areas or to overlap the words in the shadows
You know you really have a pop art with the completed challenge...with all the different styles placed next to each other. I love that! The color pencil art is my favorite but I'd love to see an impressionistic version. Fun!
Another great video! I loved the pixel art and I loved the pop art...in just the black and white! I also would like to see the typography done with different colors for the words instead of just in black and white. I think that would be beautiful.
Went into this thinking the pixel art would be my favorite, but the typography blew me away. Very surprised on how pretty the ballpoint pen came out. I love all of them. The colored pencil one of course will win hands down, but the others outshine them for the creativity. Thank you for sharing your art
Wow, this was insane, my hand is cramping for you. I did something similar when I tested out all my art mediums with a teddy bear. I didn't even *know* how to do detail work at the time, I was just testing how the pens & pencils worked on the paper. Very fun! Some of them were caran d'ache.
Your brain is so creative. After watching your livestream and learning so much about your history with art, I've been a bit motivated to whip out my pencils and a coloring book and sit down with them :) Even though I haven't picked them up, I approached even picking up pencils differently than I did before, going in with a lighter hand and embracing a more "realistic" coloring style with shading vs just blocking in color like I did before. I'm having a lot of fun curled up in bed with a tray table and a pile of art supplies in the evenings 😊
I love how daring you are! While you were about half way through, I wished you would do one in the style of 1970’s concert posters. Then you did pop art!!!! That one and typography are my two favorites! Thanks for doing this! So much fun!
The Pixel art. It's not normally my thing, but I think it's the lack of any harsh lines/lines in general, and the colours you chose are just so soft and pretty
Well that's dedication, for sure. My favourite is the scetch style. I like how pixel art turned out and the coloured oencil, of course, is the classic.
My favorite was the pop art then the ballpoint pen then the color Pencil but they where all amazing it was hard to pick my favorite thats why i picked 3😊❤
Wow! The effort and time put on the color pencils was totally worth it!!! It’s AMAZING 🤯✨ Hope this inspires more people to take time to make their own creations :3
What a cool challenge! Colored pencils and typography are my favorite with pixel a close third ;) but I think they all turned out really good! This was an absolute joy to watch 😊
Absolutely amazing. All of them are so very different and unique. I love love the popart and the pixel art one since they took you out of your comfort zone and pushed you. For the popart. I don't use markers, but I use waterproof ink with a old fashion Inkpen and thin brush. Let them dry for a while or use a drying tool before going in. Otherwise the alcohol lifts it off.
Loved (in order) colored pencil, ballpoint pen, pixel art ❤❤❤ these are my favorite 3, but I must say that I loved them all. What a brilliant idea of a video, it made me see it until the end. Congrats Sarah 👏👏👏
i love the colored pencils the most , but i love the variety . this video is a burst of fresh creativity . Colorfully Optimistic channel , has a whole playlist about coloring hair if you feel like making it easy on yourself for Once . 😘
So much fun to watch. I love them all but my favorite is a toss up between the colored pencils and pop art. The pixel one would be fun to try but no way I'd draw all those cubes. Haahaa.
My three favorites were the typography, stencil, and popart. The pop art one was cool! I want to try the typography one on a simpler page in one of my books or maybe like a background with different fonts and thicknesses. And the pixel one would be fun to try too. Thanks for inspiring me! I have this kawaii space coloring book that I think would be perfect for testing some of these out 😄👍
I like the previous suggested name Holly. I think that fits her perfect. I as for my favorite, I really love the pen drawing that you first did. I think it turned out really cool, and did some thing I want to try now. I was surprised at all the variation you were able to achieve using just a ballpoint pen! ♥️♥️♥️
Colored pencils are my favorite go to medium BUT I really liked the pop art & im thinking about trying it . If I do I’ll post a copy on here . Thanks this was fun
I only recently got my first set(s) of alcohol markers, but the first thing I did was test my black pens with it. I've had the best luck with the Ohuhu set of black pens because they were formulated for use with alcohol markers (of the same brand, but since the base is the same...). They're not as DARK as others, in fact I find the 1.0 nib specially to show off as a dark grey if you only do one layer, but it has the advantage it doesn't bleed with yellow/light markers. I touch up larger spots with the actual black alcohol marker where I need it to actually be black. You can also just go over it again after coloring in with markers to darken it as well.
Prismacolor has a manga set with bullet tip and brush tips markers that are black and for detail. I love that set. It also has red and blue Col-Erase pencils and graphite sketch pencils
Really a cool experiment! Hard to pick one I like best! I guess my least favorite one is the one with all the words all over it - cool concept by using bigger/smaller words to create the shadows. I've never seen pixel art done before so that was really fun to watch you do!
You are such an amazing artist and the fact that you conquer ur fears and are not afraid to admit your faults is amazing not everyone can do that in fact i cant do that. And a thank you for leading me into the artists world
That looks like a W&N fineliner that I had and I remember they would smudge when I go over them with an alcohol marker shortly after doing the lines. I noticed that when I do the lines in the evening and then continue with the markers the next day, it was just fine.
That‘s awesome! The colored pencil of cause is impressing. But out of all of them I would choose pop art, pixel art and ballpoint pen as my favorites. Thanks so much for doing this. I would love to see you try out more styles.
My favorites are the Pop Art, Pixel Art, and the Stencil pieces. I love that you went out of your comfort zone by experimenting with various styles. I think you could combine the Pop Art with the Stencil style by using colored pencil halftone dots in the stencil shadow area instead of solid black. I think it would look really cool!
They are all very beautiful. Colored Pencils, Pop Art, and Pixel Art are my personal favorites. I've actually never seen the typography style before and I think it's very cool and creative.
Ahhhhh Sarah how could you make us choose?! I can’t, i honestly enjoy them ALL! Please do more of this i cant wait to see what else you come up with. The pop art might be the first one I try ❤
I only use one coloring style, so this is amazing to me. The pixel art made my jaw drop. I'm also impressed how well the typography one worked out. This challenge would be good for style exploration.
Can I first just say you're amazing! I'm not sure how I found your page, but I'm glad I did, now subbed! My faves were the coloured pencils, and the pixel art pages. 😍
Can't pick a favorite! All turned better than I expected (the colored pencil I already knew would be great), but the Pixel art turned out way better than I could envision. I would never had the patience- I would have been out before doing the graphs LOL! You inspire me to do it (but maybe not).😆
That must have been a lot of work but they all looked great! I am looking for a good black pen too so maybe u could do a black marker hunt video lol! I would watch that!
I think pop art is my fave page too!

Video idea: colour the same colouring page in a Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter palette?
Love your videos always inspire me for my next drawing ❤
I just love artists supporting artists even if it's in small ways - wearing tenhuns shirt and using jazzas art box! Just love how wholesome the UA-cam art community is !!

Wow the pixel art was amazing 😮
Really liked the pixel art piece.
Definitely do a black marker challenge. I would aldo like to see you master hair and fur then maybe do a different ways to colour/approach hair/fur study.
The pixel art was my favorite. You did an awesome job with them all. I'd love to see more of the typography style too

This should be a series! It was very fun to watch. You did great on each style!
My favorite? Easy, all of them - each for a different reason.
Good job, and lots of fun to watch. 👏
The Pixel Art one (and all of them) is AMAZING!
Wow, this was insane, my hand is cramping for you.
I did something similar when I tested out all my art mediums with a teddy bear. I didn't even *know* how to do detail work at the time, I was just testing how the pens & pencils worked on the paper. Very fun! Some of them were caran d'ache.
The pop art page really stands out! This was really interesting, love the variety of styles you tried!
YES please do a black pen/fine liner/marker review!! I love the pop art, stencil, and of course color pencil ❤
So many different styles! I really like the pixel art! 👾
This is inspiring to hear! I can’t wait to hear how you go!
Love your ten hundred tshirt! Also, loving the different colouring styles.
Pixel and typography are my favorites!
I came here to say the same thing! Love the shirt and love the video!
I love how daring you are! While you were about half way through, I wished you would do one in the style of 1970’s concert posters. Then you did pop art!!!! That one and typography are my two favorites! Thanks for doing this! So much fun!

I love the pixel art
Well that's dedication, for sure. My favourite is the scetch style. I like how pixel art turned out and the coloured oencil, of course, is the classic.
I loved them all, but my favorite is the color pencil one… you do very nice work!!!
Love them all but my favs are the coloured pencils because I love the colours, then pop art and then the pixel art. This was such an interesting video
My favorite was the pop art then the ballpoint pen then the color Pencil but they where all amazing it was hard to pick my favorite thats why i picked 3😊❤
I love pop art and, of course, colored pencils. This was fun!!!!
I can’t choose a favorite. They are all beautiful! Great job
Wow! The effort and time put on the color pencils was totally worth it!!! It’s AMAZING 🤯✨
Hope this inspires more people to take time to make their own creations :3
I like how open you are to all the art styles and just flow into them as you get creative.❤❤
My first choice is the colored pencil , then the pixel and last the pop art. Love this video and challenge. Have a great week.😊
I love the pixel art one so much that I want to have a go!
I love the coloured pencils and pop art one too.
Stained glass would be awesome to try too.
Amazing! My favorite the colored pencils!!!
These are really good! I think my favorite is the pixel art one
What a cool challenge! Colored pencils and typography are my favorite with pixel a close third ;) but I think they all turned out really good! This was an absolute joy to watch 😊
Wow this was cool I love the pixel pop art and of course the colored pencils. Hard choice I loved all of it.
Pencil and Pop Art are my favorites. Great video, btw.
I love the pixel-art style the most, but they are all awesome!
I liked the Pop Art the best, then came the colour pencils. Thank you for your comparisons.
All of them are beautiful. As a challenge I would say pixel art. I ❤ it! Great work 👌
Loved (in order) colored pencil, ballpoint pen, pixel art ❤❤❤ these are my favorite 3, but I must say that I loved them all.
What a brilliant idea of a video, it made me see it until the end. Congrats Sarah 👏👏👏
Yes do it again with gouache, water colours, acrylics.
Great idea!
We did this challange in art class many years ago. Long before UA-cam. But, still a fun video to watch. Your colouring is is amazing.
My favourites are the pop art and the colouring pencils.
My favourite is pixel... but all are just gorgeous ❤❤❤
Love them all ! Thank you Sarah !
i love the colored pencils the most , but i love the variety . this video is a burst of fresh creativity . Colorfully Optimistic channel , has a whole playlist about coloring hair if you feel like making it easy on yourself for Once . 😘
Out of all of them, I like the coloured pencil, the pop art version, and surprisingly the pixelated version too.
The pixel art is my favourite, the scarf is gorgeous!
Also loving then Ten Hun tee!
So much fun to watch. I love them all but my favorite is a toss up between the colored pencils and pop art. The pixel one would be fun to try but no way I'd draw all those cubes. Haahaa.
I really like how creative the pixel art and typography ones were
my favorites are the pixel art and realistic ones. great challenge!
I really liked the pixel art one - I think that’s my favorite.
My three favorites were the typography, stencil, and popart. The pop art one was cool! I want to try the typography one on a simpler page in one of my books or maybe like a background with different fonts and thicknesses. And the pixel one would be fun to try too. Thanks for inspiring me! I have this kawaii space coloring book that I think would be perfect for testing some of these out 😄👍
Definitely the last one but all of them were great.
So excited to watch!
LOVE THE WHOLE THING
Very fun! My fav was the colored pencil one but also loved the typography and pop art. They were all cool.

I really like the pixel and typography pieces. Very cool!
Love this idea! Several of the styles surprised me at how much I liked the end results
Thank you so much!
At first I wasn't sure how the pixel art would turn out, but that's my favourite one!
i really liked the pixel art and the typography style because it is very unusual, i will try it myself,, my two favourites, thanks dear
Love the Colored pencil one the most, runner-up is the pixel art that was really cool.
My favourite style you did is the typography one. 😊👍🏻 and a close 2nd was the coloured pencil one…. 😊👍🏻
But you did great on each one. 😊👍🏻
Enjoyed this! Try using the Copic fineliners. They are refillable and nibs replace like the big markers. They won't bleed with alcohol markers.
Love the pixel art style
The ballpoint pen was incredible. The detail you could get with the single colour
The pop art and the colored pencil. The bullpen was awesome too well we can sit like you your excellent in what you do❤
I love the pixel and typography ones. Its a very creative and artistic way to think on the right side of the brain.
I only recently got my first set(s) of alcohol markers, but the first thing I did was test my black pens with it. Love how the typography one turned out. That is my favorite.
This is the kind of content I love. The coloured pencil drawing was my favourite.
pixel was my fav! great video! - Never heard about Banksey before, was great to learn that and hope you do your black marker pen video :D
That‘s awesome! The colored pencil of cause is impressing. But out of all of them I would choose pop art, pixel art and ballpoint pen as my favorites. Thanks so much for doing this. I would love to see you try out more styles.
I was so surprised at how much I liked the typography one! It was so interesting. Fun challenge and I hope you do it again!🧡🖤🧡

Popart and colored pencils - I can't choose! Loved this, Sarah!!! :-)
They are all very beautiful.
Colored Pencils, Pop Art, and Pixel Art are my personal favorites.
I've actually never seen the typography style before and I think it's very cool and creative.
I loved the pixels the most. Part of it is the color palette you chose, but I also love the texture. I cross-stitch, so maybe that’s why.
I luvd all of them as they were so different from each other. Helped me think of different ways of looking at the same thing. Thank you Sarah 😊xx
Ahhhhh Sarah how could you make us choose?! I can’t, i honestly enjoy them ALL! Please do more of this i cant wait to see what else you come up with. The pop art might be the first one I try ❤

Thanks for subbing!

You should try it!
That must have been a lot of work but they all looked great! I am looking for a good black pen too so maybe u could do a black marker hunt video lol! I would watch that!
