    The Parkour community grows so fast, its amazing. I'm so happy to be part of this community and it makes me happy to see, that some guys realy care about the future of our beloved sport.
    Keep the good work up, I hope, someday, I'll get the chance to train with you!

    There are already people capitalizing on the idea of parkour and making classes for it regardless of there actual experience. But, that is what the world wide community of parkour is for. Many individuals in parkour communities teach and help others for free.

    yes ur right at some point,

  • @shortaflip
    @shortaflip 15 років тому

    Exactly, they learned it through experimentation and some guidance through each other. From my point of view a teacher of parkour that has trained hard but doesn't have ADAPT certification is just as qualified to teach.

  • @shortaflip

    The military was where his father learned a form of training that uses obstacle courses. He learned it from a French Naval officer named Georges Hébert. Herbert developed his training method called La Method Naturelle during a visit to Africa.

  • @nightsparks
    @nightsparks 15 років тому

    Exactly. We have here an opportunity to do something new, to BE SOMETHING FRESH. We look around us and we see the failings of a world based on competition and greed and we have a choice - do we go down the same road? Or do we chart our own course?
    Is parkour about walking between the rails? Or is it about traversing them in a thousand and one unique ways?

  • @MaxSafeheaD
    @MaxSafeheaD 15 років тому

    For me in the beginning it took a few pioneers to make the possibilities visible.
    The question is should I follow their path or ignore what they have done and try to pioneer myself?
    I'm happy to balance the two.
    For me, teaching is reciprocal altruism. The only prison is the one you make for yourself - limiting yourself to one teacher and blindly following and, most importantly, without your own experimentation.

    @Laneholdenproduction
    The certificate is not created in order to HINDER people to teach. If you want to teach at schools for example you can get problems with authorities because they dont always pick people from the streets and allow them to teach parkour. If you have the adapt certificate you have been endorsed by the founders. It's the best qualification you can get. It also hinders gymnastic coaches to create their own certificate which is good since they dont have a clue about parkour.

  • @TsiSiFa
    @TsiSiFa 11 років тому

    I offer my respects where due. I'm thankful to all who have gone before me. And if PKGen guys come to Melb, I'll likely train with em.
    But we're not here talking about me. We're talking about the art as a whole, and how it has the unique opportunity to NOT go down the same route that almost every other discipline has.
    It can be kept free and open.
    Imagine a worldwide community that shuns the empty allure of money, competition, and control.

    joshjarman, i say it because i've tried it. Just try to climb up a wall using different techniques and the one with the elbows will be one of the easier ones. Also, you aren't putting your weight on the elbows but on the whole forearms, so it's barely noticeable on the elbows.

    Do note this : The Adapt programme is meant to teach the basics and values of the discipline. Just like Subjects in school, we are taught the basics, but how we apply them is up to us. I was taught the basics when i started and now i share them too.Although personally, i would rather the traditional method of passing the art around.

    I believe that too,Sir. I have seen many Martial artists beaten up by local street thugs. But it doesn't mean we shouldn't practice martial arts or self-defense.
    My friend is black belt in Kung fu(I don't know how,he can be beaten up by a kid) and when i introduced him to parkour he can't even do vault,Wall run and many basic movements properly,he's too weak to do parkour.
    So,Some really need guidance and teaching to do even simple movements,

    I live in Australia in N.S.W, is there a program here similar to A.D.A.P.T where we can become qualified to teach. i am interested because i am a gymnastics coach and this would increase my knowledge of the sport i love and also help me with teaching gymnastics in some areas.
    Also what are the requirements to do this program
    e.g. age, level of experience in parkour, fitness, or anything else i've missed
    much appreciated

    @kinjk i know that getting out at least 5 mins a day is better than not goin out at all, but it would still be better to sped more time on it cause that still isnt much exercise. i for one usually go out running for about 3 hours every day. im not saying that people should be out THAT long. just maybe..... 30 to an hour?

    I know ppl grumble about the conditioning but personally I like it! I think it's extremely important although perhaps it's not a good idea to be so tired before then going on to practice movement ... then that's my fault for being so unfit/weak.
    It will never be THE standard unless every traceur accepts it as such - highly unlikely!
    UF? I know none, who respects them as a group.
    I think PKG just want to make a reasonable living doing and teaching what they love.

    dont misunderstand me, teaching is a GOOD thing. Im just not so sure of the way PKGEN want to do it and from my experiences of PKGEN sessions, its a lot of conditioning and thats about it. Perhaps things have changed?
    secondly it wont be theyre 'personal' standard
    of course they dont want that, its bad for buisness
    they want it to be THE standard
    UF are making a lot of money by seeming an 'authority' i guess PKGEN want some?

    @shadow0927 Like Chau said, the spirit was born by their natural instinct in the woods. If you go back far enough, Methode Naturalle and Parkour originate to natives of Africa. Because of jungle and diseases that were incurable by the europeans, their original human movements and motivation for those movements were left untampered with until late in history. They were the last link we had to the movements we were born with. All humans know Parkour naturally, so any human can rediscover th way

    also david belle had a teacher...his father...and all the others around the world who don't have a traceur as a father have to learn the proper techniques from somebody else...sure you can watch videos over and over, but you maybe miss some critical points and then you get hurt...but that's your own decicion =)...I don't think that these public trainings are a bad thing...you don't have to train in these "official" groups, but if it helps people to get the discipline to train...why not^^

    i think as far as the preservation of the art goes, this is turning out to be like the martial arts were. the old masters refusing to teach outsiders and shunning people for doing so. this could be what it would have been like had they embraced that idea. you know what i mean? with the whole endorsing people. i think that if you want to learn and train bad enough, you should go over there and learn from them. THAT would be dedication to the authentic discipline. i'm planning to go to morzine

    Keep it street. Keep it dirty. Keep it human.
    'Parkour', as an idea, is about expressing freedom and humanity through movement.
    Discovery is a part of the process; being spoon-fed is not. Sharing is part of the process; teaching is not.
    We try to move without obstacles, seeing everything as an opportunity for creativity and growth and learning.
    Lay down an arbitrary structure over the top of it all and you create a prison out of parkour; weaving a net from a field of wild flowers.
