Regarding selling your art, I kinda have a very unpopular opinion 😅. It's your job to create art, so why wouldn't you get paid for it? We don't berate engineers or mathematicians because they have to "do the science" out of passion, do we? Forcing someone to work for free, either by force or out of guilt it's wrong! The artists spent their whole lifes studying, the materials for creating cost money and their time too! I'm not a professional so I can afford to gift my own art, but if it was my income I'd be much more hesitant and that doesn't make me a terrible person or something. You're doing amazing, Bre! Keep fighting for your dream!
I absolutely love your perspective on selling art ♥️ Art truly makes the world go round and people consume it and depend on it wayyyy more than they realize. Artists deserve to get paid for their work, influence, and ideas!! Thank you for sharing and leaving such an awesome comment :)
Hi Bre, I loved your vlog and watching you make the kits. I agree with your business advice too! I'm so glad you said to value our work and our time. I got my zines into a gallery shop a couple of weeks ago and went and checked them last week and I've sold some! It feels so good to get paid for creating something I love doing. Your videos are inspiring! Thank you😊
Thank you so fucking much for wearing a mask in public ❤ it's such a meaningful act of solidarity and self love. Thank you for making spaces safer for me to be in
25:31 made me smile! I’m 7 decades old-wishing I had been born in this age of content creation. I’d do it all over again… be a free creative-write whatever made me happy and sell it-until I HAD to get a job that more than paid the bills-which, ultimately, is teaching English for life! I’m enjoying your free spirit and zine instruction. Making zines is becoming my “jam!”
I love this! Oh, to be an English teacher. You guys don’t get enough credit! 🖤 Thank you so much for watching, I’m THRILLED that zines are becoming your jam. My zine propaganda is working!! Hehehe
making those boxes remind me of when i worked at a gas station and we had these mini 4” pizzas and we had to make boxes very similar to those (except they were far less cute!)
This was such a great vlog! Thank you for sharing a bit of your life with us and really advocating for us artists to price what we create. You made good points, and I loved the story about your professor
I’m glad you found it helpful! I definitely had you in mind bc I’ve seen your business comments/questions a few times 🥰 thank you for all your support ♥️
just got done watching, this was a really nice vlog to have on in the background while i worked on something! your vlog style content is always really fun, and i do really wanna check out the zine kits, sounds like a lot of fun and its a great idea. thank you bre!!
I think your advice on being authentic with creating and business were right on point! Doing a "copy & paste" tactic comes across like a get rich quick scheme. So emphasising that taking a risk on an idea and just TRYING something, will teach you so much more and be so much more enjoyable in the end 😊
New sub. Definitely waiting for the Feb 4th drop to get a kit for my 6 year old niece so she can start her zine making journey. I really appreciate this venture! ✨🖤
Hey, so about the ring light glare in your glasses, the pro tip is to have the light come down from above you when the ring light is directly in front of you it can be seen in your glasses, but not at much when it's tilted from above or the side. Hope that helps 🙂👍🏼 *Back to the show lol😊
@@brattyxbre lol I know the feeling! But if it helps, I love your content and the glare in the glass would ia a minor thing that I can overlook. I'm just grateful I found your channel... I've done junk journaling but didn't even know zines existed. You inspired and I created my first zine a week ago!!!
That is sooooo incredible, I’m so glad you’re here!! Junk journaling is rad it’s kinda like a form of zine making so I know you’ll have fun incorporating all that into your work. Thank you for watching (and the glasses too haha) ♥️♥️
These kits are super cute and I love the product photos you took. A zine date is such a good idea. My partner and I were thinking of making chocolate covered strawberries too, but strawberries were sold out when I tried to buy them 😅
I know strawberries were sold out everywhere!! Lol I was trying to get more on vday too 😭♥️♥️ hope you enjoyed the day regardless. Thank you for all your kind words and for watching Charlie :)
Re: the glasses glare, when I film UA-cam videos, I use a pair of cheap glasses which have the lenses popped out. That way I get to maintain the glasses look but no glare
@@brattyxbre I also love it a lot. I wish all the luck of creativity and blessings to you and the fanzines. Sad that I'm on the other side of the Ocean, lol Go meet you and see these zines up close 🤗
Absolutely loved this vlog! I’ve just started zine making this year after wanting to for ages! Those zine boxes look so fun! Also those drinks y’all got made me so thirsty, I think I’m gonna have to snag my bestie and go get boba 👀
what is the printer you use for stickers? is it the same you use for regular printing? (if there's a video hwere you share your tools i'll just look it up :)) thinking about buying a printer that doesn't turn out to be devil spawn LOL
