It would be foolhardy to put Tua out there again this season even after he comes off IR; absolutely no one wants to see him concussed again (or worse!) - this also means Miami's season is already doomed. At least they've already avoided the indignity of a winless season...
McDaniel staked his continued career in Miami on Tua and Tua alone, which was risky AT BEST and insane at worst. Now with the season down the drain and Tua's professional career all but over, McDaniel will be lucky if he still has his job next season!

What they want is to cut down on head injuries (which statistics time and time again show that the majority of concussions in football occur during kickoff returns) and touchbacks. Moving the kickoff to the 35 was the first attempt to combat this. Last year, they created a fair catch rule, which resulted in every kickoff going through the back of the endzone because there was now no reason to kick it shorter. The NFL doesn't mind that, but players and fans hate it because its boring and removes an aspect of the game. Everyone wants kickoffs to have meaning, the NFL just doesn't want people getting concussions. These new rules were an effort to keep kickoff returns but minimize injury and touchbacks. However, it immediately failed and everyone is still kicking the ball through the back of the endzone. I expect to see kickoff rules changing again next season.
Miami has to find a better backup quarterback, and the gameplan that McDaniel was implementing didn’t work. I think they’re going to have a hard time scoring with Tua out of action for a long period of time
