Great to get back to basics! I’ve heard so much more about Sketchup and tried it a few years ago, but it felt backwards to me since I’ve used a variety of CAD programs which I’m used to different habits. This makes so much more sense and I can see how I can move forward on this. Thanks!

Really clear instructions and great voice to listen to. The thing I found most helpful which I haven't done whilst self teaching/tutorial surfing.... Was grouping things! I always ended up dragging walls around with furniture before and thus helps so much thanks! Also the 3 button mouse tricks! Before it always annoyed me that I had to go back to the side bar to select each different move tool but you helped me a lot! Thank-you!

Thank you *VERY, VERY MUCH.* These basic things really accelerated my learning curve tremendously! I basically started last week and now have already completed the simple floating shelf for my hi-fi components. With rounded, routed doors - once I went back to 2-D and getting the shape right before pulling it was an absolute breeze!!!
    Most helpful concepts:
    1. Mouse control - clicking and leaving the item.
    2. Grabbing the edge or corner.
    3. Using the press of scroll wheel to orbit.
    4. Activating the hand tool whilst doing all other things.

Great video. I've just completed a short interior design course where we had to design the ground floor of a townhouse, all by hand. Now, our lecturer wants us to do the same with SketchUp. Really looking forward to getting stuck in!

Awesome - good luck with trying that project in SketchUp. If you decide you need to dive in further, we have full SketchUp courses on our website that walk you through everything from the basics to interior design projects and more. You can find out more here: www.sketchupschool.com/video-course-library

A recap of all the tips was very useful. I needed a refresher. However, tips on navigating was great. Thanks so much

Your explanation of "stickiness" is spot on and I like you explanation of mouse moves. Those are the biggest two things that my students struggle with.

The last tip (proper usage of mouse for zoom, pan, orbit) was by far the most useful tip. Thanks!
