I want to cry when I hear this, takes me back to 1982. Washed both my parents cars and got $5.00 and stole some change out of my brothers room and bought this tape for $8.00 at the mall on Friday night. Been an enormous fan of Triumph and especially Rik since 81. Riks amazing 'high register' voice and range blew my mind and this song . . man, this song. The amazing strength I was able to draw from the lyrics and the passion with which he sings it actually kept me from offing myself twice at some very dark times in my life, I'm so glad I remembered and chose to listen again. I do believe that the vocal wail Rik does in the outro of this song at exactly 6:44 is the highest note he hits in his entire recording career, at least from what I remember. He gets pretty high on the outro of Never Surrender too, and also on Somebody's Out There off The Sport of Kings, but not as high as this! You can tell he's really flexing his god-given vocal ability and maybe 'showing off' a little, which he had every right to do. :) I owe you so much Rik, no means exist that I could ever show or repay you for all you have so selflessly given me; the uncountable joys, vocal & musical inspiration, strength, peace, tolerance, treasured lifelong memories; and a mutual love and child-like wonder of the power of music.
