"A certain point of view" is on full display in this episode. We're initially weary of the witch coven and side with the Jedi, but then the Jedi seem like the invasive aggressors. It's Aniseya and Sol who instill a sense of trust in their respective groups.

Possibly, but only as shorter sequences focusing on specific scenes. There's not enough episodes to do another full length flashback like this. We'll probably see that final few hours from Mae's perspective. We need a contrast between Torbin and Sol's perspectives too. That may be blended with Mae's flashback or standalone.

Concerning effects for the Force, shoves and blocks should feature ripples of clothing, hair, even destruction and push/pull of the environment. I really enjoyed seeing the clash of cultures in Star Wars. The Jedi of course have been the main focus of this franchise forever so I really liked seeing how other semi-religious groups across the Galaxy react to the Jedi enforcing their way of life onto people across the galaxy whether they like it or not. Seeing the Witches have no choice but to give in to the Jedis demands because they would face serious consequences from a galactic government they're not even officially a part of really fascinated me. Learning about the sociopolitical climate of the Star Wars Universe is what's keeping me very interested in the show so far. I think this is the strongest episode so far, and I hope the show can keep its decent momentum.

He must have not understood the length the Jedi would take to keep power for themselves and when he finally discovered it, took to meditation to try and alleviate his guilt.

There were two extremes in the night sister(?) group, but ultimately they were pretty level headed, which doesn't mesh with the philosophy of "dark side users", since they're all about power. Also wanted to throw out how much Lee Jung-Jae is nailing his performance. Not just the fact that he learned the English Language to play this part but the emotion and depth he is able to bring particularly in the scene where's he's comforting Osha on the ship and is visibly crying shows that he is not okay with whatever happened in comparison to Indara and Francis padawan who are standing very calm and almost cold in the back. He is selling me on Jay's theory that either Sol doesn't know what truly happened or he does and is very against it.

My theory is that the Jedi infiltrated the coven fortress at the same time Mai and Osha thing was happening. That reactor was important, they showed it early on in the episode. Indara and Torbin began slaughtering the coven and Sol went looking for the girls. Kalnacca is the technical one, we see him fixing the speeder. He was the one that sabotaged the reactor, causing the explosion and spreading the fire. Torbin was wounded in the fight, you see for a brief moment at the end of the episode with his ruined eye, which wasn't present the the initial meeting with the Jedi. Clearly the inquisition/slaughter didn't sit well with Torbin which is why he retreated to that meditation state.
That's what I was able to put together with all of the context clues.

I don't think the Jedi went after the Coven like that. Mother Koril was hostile to them from the get go, wanted to murder them. I'm willing to bet Koril escalated things possible by using that mind trick on torbin and from there things spun out of control.

@@WeAreTheBentusi Mother Koril being hostile and escalating is reasonable. Indara was under some sort of order from the Jedi council in regards to the Coven though. Unless Indara went rogue against the Order. Sol seemed to be unaware of any directive.

I'm with Jay on the Jedi being the baddies. We are used to seeing them during war time. This is day to day Jedi with no big bad to go against. They throw their weight around. There's a reason Jedi quit and go work at the Footlocker. We saw scenes of Anakin being a snot in AoTC. But we also see Jedi act exactly like that in other content. So it's not just Anakin being Anakin. This episode is like Disney going to WB and stopping them from making superhero movies unless they make Marvel movies for them.
Oh and when it comes to the Force. The coven's should show the thread. We can see it only as an audience representation of how they mentally see it. Kinda like the Nightsister green. When Jedi and Sith (2 sides of a double headed coin) use the Force, you hear a rumble.

That part. That scene made me think what if you were a parent who didn’t have the force when several Jedi show up to test your child. There is very much a power dynamic at play. The Jedi are trained to use the force and in combat. It’s not a good look for the Jedi. That power play/dynamic doesn’t necessarily go away when they meet these witches. 4:33 "Ok, we're getting somebody else's understanding of the Force." First, let me thank you both SO MUCH for your positivity. That is a REFRESHING thing to see where this show is concerned, and I appreciate that much more than the thumbnails that say "Lesbian commie space witches can impregnate each other with the Force." Bless you both.
Secondly, I feel the urge to point this out because Dave Filoni REALLY mashed up the Dathomiri witches when he took that concept from the EU books: all Nightsisters are witches, but not all witches are Nightsisters, just like all Jedi are Force users, but not all Force users are Jedi. The Nightsisters are basically the Sith of the witch covens. They embrace the Dark Side of the force, which is why their magick is colored that specific "villain green," the glowing green that get used as shorthand for anything toxic/deadly.
So, while this coven of Mother Aniseya's may be Force-wielding witches, their very diversity points to them being something other than Nightsisters, though it SEEMS like they embrace some of the Dark elements, too.
My take on the bit at the beginning with the translucent butterfly/moth thing is that Osha did grab it through the Force and was doing whatever it was Mae does a little later, but Osha could not follow through. Perhaps she was supposed to kill it or crush it or something, but she couldn't bring herself to do so. Later, we see Mae REALLY go for it with both hands, and whatever she is doing she is focused and following through, but Osha makes her stop. And then Osha says she doesn't want to be a witch, which indicates to me that maybe they are doing some darker stuff with their magick.
Obviously this flashback is from Osha's specific and Certain Point of View™ so we don't yet have all the answers. It will be interesting to see how the truth really goes.

I don't think that force abilities should have more special effects, though I understand Jay's reasons for feeling like something is missing. The lack of visualised force energy has always been a hallmark of Star Wars, distinguishing it from "magic" in other media, and the power is better represented by distinct sound design, object reaction and amateur theatre level acting (jokes, i personally buy it) 🙃 Plus, the force is much more of a "holy" energy, so its invisibleness helps sell its sacredness.

This group of Witches seems very different than any of the other groups we've encountered so far, so it's unlikely that they are Nightsisters.

I don't think the witches coven is dark side forces users. Mother Anisaye spiral on her forehead look like a Yin/Yang symbol in the middle. Also, during the "Ascension Ceremony" the Red and Blue moons were "Conjunct". They seem to pulling from both light and dark side of the force. This could explain why Osha seem to be a light side force user, and Mae seems to be a dark side force user. But Anakin Skywalker who was created by Darth Sidious turn to the dark side of the force.
