- Today, TacomaCyclist unboxes a $500 heart rate monitor that does just a little more than your average heart rate strap

Thanks for this video. You explain it well.
Old man at 45? HA! You are far from being an old man. Wait until you hit 70.
I just bought (11-7-2022) a Frontier X2 for $439 with coupon code (free shipping).
I'm bummed that you did not post a follow up video after actually using the Frontier X.
My (revised, now 14 day) review:
+ Well thought out software on the phone and web. This is impressive.
+ Connectivity with the phone is good.
- Frontier says the recent software update allows Frontier X to connect to a second device but I've been unable to connect to a Garmin 510....continue to work on it.
- The breathing rate is inaccurate...about half of actual (more on this after I try to calibrate if that's possible)
+/- Unsure of the Cardiac Strain and HRV accuracy
I am not so much interested in maxing my workout performance, but I'm old (you aren't at 45!) at 55 now. I work out daily with Polar chest monitor and app. Recently diagnosed with a "myochardial infraction" (which is a heart attack!) very minor, at some point in the past. Will this help?
Hey what did you decide about this? I had a heart attack in Jan. Looking to get back working out.... did it work? I am a taekwondo practitioner. Hit the mat right after class... now have a stent. thanks.,
Do you have any updates about the overall performance?
Thanks for the unboxing. The straps are just colored differently. Match an outfit or so you can tell them apart. For example my wife and I could share a unit with our own straps.
Also of note unfortunately they are out of additional straps right now and new units may have 2 red straps. Hopefully from their report they will have replacements in the next month.
Thanks. I'll have an update on this soon, but so far, my review is NOT shaping up to be a positive one. My unit is barely functional and I have not seen worse customer service from even the likes of Comcast!
@@TacomaCyclist that's not good to hear as mine is in the mail.
@@adamtree Honestly, it may work for a lot of people. My biggest issues (sneak preview of my full review):
- It can only connect to one device at a time. So I can't record my workout on the device AND record on my head unit. I have to choose.
- I can't record BOTH the EKG and a workout at the same time. I have to choose.
- No ANT+
- Device won't sync and crashes frequently
- When the long-awaited sync finally does happen, it bricks your phone for 45 minutes as it syncs.
Just a few of the issues. Don't get me started on the terrible service though. :-)
@@TacomaCyclist interesting. At least they have a 30 day return policy. There are some very specific things I'm looking for so we'll see. I'll be watching for your full review. Thanks
@@TacomaCyclist oh no!!!!!!!!! I too an a cyclist. I have a-fib and was so hoping that this would be the answer for me. to record workouts. This is very disappointing.
How do you sync your data to get an ECG?
I'm interested in trying it out but not interested in paying the $500 (or $400)...especially as (based on some reviews) it seems not to be the perfect unit I hoped for. If anyone wants to sell theirs, let me know.
