I always love teaching the young ones at locals how to play their favorite decks. Had this kid once play Toons and Hero's, he was very shy and his mom was encouraging him to talk to some of the older guys, he was like 9 or so and the rest of us were in our 20's. We played a few games and I showed him some combos and gave him a few cards for his deck that I was never going to use anyways. Traded him a bunch of stuff for like a random common he had. Didn't matter to me as long as the kid was gonna continue to play and get some use out of the cards. One of the most discouraging factors for new players is the old ones just bodying them for a free win and then no other sort of interaction whatsoever. Some are there to play but some really are there putting themselves out of their comfort zone to socialize and Yu-Gi-Oh! is a good way to do that. It's just when some players take it too seriously, it can be a put off those those who are new just trying to learn and have fun. You can totally destroy a newcomer, just help them learn what to do and what not to do. It makes everyone a better duelist in the end.
