As much as I love Helmet...dont know...this seemed like it lost its essence by speeding it up too much. This should be slower, more sluggish, and HEAVIER
It's because John Stanier is not on the drums anymore, and while he didn't do anything real flashy, there is no question for me at least, that John's drumming made this band. Such an underrated drummer.
There could be some time constraints as other bands might be playing after Helmet. Production people tend to make bands hurry up to maximize the time on stage. In small DIY club gigs, setting up equipment takes plenty of time, disrupting the programme, especially if you don't have your own amps and crew to help set things up.
I remember the first time I heard this song. I think I was 15. Me and all my friends were confused because the album version makes the vocals sound like Ozzy. I was thinking "Ozzy is doing Hardcore now? I can live with that. I just might become an Ozzy fan".
First time I heard the song was actually on the first season of Beavis and Butthead they were watching the music video and of course couldn't help themselves but head bang. And I couldn't help it, naturally I did the same thing. Lol. Then I decided to download the song and I've been listening to it ever since. This is a pretty good performance thank you for posting.
page still has all the talent and more but i wish he would sing and write songs like he did 2 decades ago, also strongly agree about john he was impressive as fuck.
Actually his voice sounds better than it has in a long time. He's dropped that awful nasal thing/James Hatfield he was down is singing like it did 15 years ago. I'm slightly less worried about the upcoming Meantime tour... ... and the new drummer is much better than the others since John....
Seen them on this tour at The Middle East in Cambridge Ma. Page must have lost his voice or something cuz it was mega high and screechy. Sounded NOTHING like him....
Oh I'm not hung up on it, I'd never heard this performance before and was just offering my own worthless opinion to the pile. I just prefer the original.
Fuck, they played that soo much faster than normal yet Page still keeps up with the down strokes! Lance is a fuckin' machine!
too fast imo, loses alot of the deep groove
@@BrentStrathdeePehi still in the pocket.
Page Hamilton has not lost a damn thing he and Helmet still rocks hard.
His vocals suck
They played it around 180 bpm and it’s recorded on the album at 160 bpm. Crazy
Saw them the same year. So good my ears were bleeding. I love me some HELMET.
Seen'em at the Middle East in Cambridge Ma. that year. Page's voice was Fk'd
I enjoy it being faster. To me it gives the song more energy and how couldn't you get pumped up to it!?!? Helmet 4 life
holy craps they are hauling ass...they get into the bag or something..haha...still bad ass after all these years
This is way better than the recording imo. The faster tempo makes the drums sound really punk.
Agreed, I prefer a raw drum sound, that is a little sloppy and a little off. CHRIS Witchunter from Sodom (rip) is a good example
Stanier is a beast
The song slaps in general
my god this kicks ass.
As much as I love Helmet...dont know...this seemed like it lost its essence by speeding it up too much. This should be slower, more sluggish, and HEAVIER
Carive Productions agree 100%
Yes. Most live acts play slightly faster.

Agree
Their best song, love this.

Chris Turnblom man im kinda late to this song, 16 now 17 in a few days, but im only hearing it now but the whole album this is from seems badass
Chris Turnblom oh and also thought it was ozzy lmao (thats why i commented in the first place and forgot to mention that bit)
I don't hear Ozzy at all whatsoever. Thats strange the 2 of you do....
I thought it was Ozzy at first, too. I listen to it now and can tell it's very clearly not him, it might have been due to using similar vocal effects.
Shoot, Ozzy should have been Hard-core. He helped create Metal, anyway.
The quality of this video is amazing.

great quality. thanks!
Sure, this version of Helmet is entertaining, but they can't hold a candle to the original line up. Stanier especially.
page still has all the talent and more but i wish he would sing and write songs like he did 2 decades ago, also strongly agree about john he was impressive as fuck.
Yup Stainer is a beast
This song doesn't lose anything by being speed up. It only goes heavier
Come to Buenos Aires !!!!!!!!
This sounds way better than it did live in the 90’s!
Youve captured some of the best quality live stuff ive seen man! Thanks and Salud!
Agreed. It's also a couple steps downtuned which takes away from the intensity too. All in all, it is 20 years later so you have to let it go.
since when did lance armstrong start singing?
+DamThatRiver85 When he lost his bicycle career for doping and stripped of his Tour de France!
lol
@@vadenhaze29 yeah after that happened I guess he had to do something.
nice ESP...
Id be the only 40 year old lame ass in the pit.....
+Der Dampfhammer Im coming up on 50 next year. Id be right beside you.
LOL
+dave runner hey i'm 22 but i'd be there too ! :D
Count me and my 40 year old shit knees and bad back there also.
yeah. at 20 my biggest pit fear might be a broken bone or busted nose. something negligible. at 36 it's contracting hepatitis. lol. shit changes man.
If Helmet play Unsung at this tempo at MDF I will be very mad. SLOW THE FUCK DOWN.
drummer headbanging awesome...
Unlike others, I really do appreciate this sped up version.
" Gone by sin too slowly " mantap banget nih lagu nya gan !!!
Probably the best simple driving fist song.
Appeal to heaven
Saw them in 2019 one of the last shows I saw before covid 30 song set and I could have jammed for another 30 helmet is Unsung/ underrated
DUUUDEEE THATS FRENETIC
They were playing it faster than it usually is.
Page es el puto amo!!!
All hail page Hamilton. Riff god!!!
I remember them from Beavis and Butthead. FASTER FASTER FASTER!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why are these guys not HUGE they are one of the most talented bands live ever I think.
they are huge in 90s . plus nowadays kids only hear shitty rapper with autotune
Like qwerty said they were big at one point in the 90s. But then their label stopped giving them attention which led to them falling off the map
still kicking it i see
Still kick ass!!!!!!
Way faster than usual. Woo.
these lads are TIGHT
Tight! Although they burned through it 20 seconds faster than the album version.
page hamilton... master!!!!!!!
The key to this tune is the pace and timing. Too fast and it loses it all. The recorded and earlier live tales are absolutely stellar
B+BH put me on a lot of great music including Helmet
"these go to eleven."
......eleven
I like the speed.
BETTER THEN REAL FRIENDS... RADIO X!!
🤘
YESSS
Why so fast?
Dude, this is perfect. Where can I watch the rest of this
Is that John tempesta?
mantap
classic
Guitar Hero 1 PS2
where was the venue?
Piledriver!
Basically double-speed but still tight as fuck.
The radio in 1992.
Lol the downstrokes... and the drummers is playing too fast.
+Synister Shreds the rest are playing too slow
Actually his voice sounds better than it has in a long time. He's dropped that awful nasal thing/James Hatfield he was down is singing like it did 15 years ago.

F'''ing lKilLlLlElR !!!
Seen them on this tour at The Middle East in Cambridge Ma. Page must have lost his voice or something cuz it was mega high and screechy. Sounded NOTHING like him....
Played WAAAAAAY TOO FAST! WTF
Jeez slow down a little
Fast > original
Ya way too fast. Loses power for speed.
Oh I'm not hung up on it, I'd never heard this performance before and was just offering my own worthless opinion to the pile. I just prefer the original.
Honestly, the drummer really needs to SLOW DOWN! I guess it's difficult replacing a guy like Stanier, though.
Way WAY too fast... it doesn't sound nearly as good sped up like this.
Way too fucking fast
Man his voice is gone now. That's too bad. He's not even close to what he used to sing it at.
