Hey there - interesting video. I am the developer of Akaizer and was surprised to hear the sounds were not at an identical pitch. I spent a lot of time getting the pitch perfect when developing Akaizer by using an Akai S2000. I was sending 44.1kHz samples from my PC to the Akai sampler via SCSI and then time-stretching on the Akai and on Akaizer with identical settings. The results were 100% pitch perfect. I also did comparisons by ear using an old S2800 and the pitch was spot on again when using identical settings.
To do a true comparison test the sample being time-stretched MUST be 100% identical and sample accurate on the Akai to the sample file in Akaizer. The only way to achieve that is to transfer the sample to/from the sampler digitally via a SCSI transfer, for example. Only then will a comparison test give perfect results (using the 'classic' algorithm in Akaizer) otherwise you end up with slight differences in the pitch of the sound like in this video. I hope that clears up any confusion :-)

Akaizer is a great tool. Thou I do regret selling my samplers years ago. I kind of found a little technique of getting my stretches at the the right contextual musical pitches. By changing the cycle length in + or - 20 increments and then using a say sinewave test tone to compare.
Just a tip for anyone out there 👍🏾👍🏾

Growing up in a small Canadian city where nobody was producing Jungle in the mid 90's..I had Nooo idea the difference in samplers. I started on Wavelab 1.5 and Kurzweil K2000 and it used to piss me off why the timestretch never sounded "right....... It was prob a decade later that I discovered the timestretch used was from the Akai...and I'd be dammed if Im spending $1000 USD on a S950 on eBay, I refused when then were $500 USD...So for me Akaiser been the answer...Between Akaiser and the very under rated Roland W30 I can still bang out a gritty sample

maybe the Akaizer is processing at a higher internal samplerate which might explain the higher "pitch" differences..
the timestretch on the Akai is pretty bog standard as theyoriginal designed the algorithm in like 1979 (it only because commercially available to us lot way later)
there i actually a streetch process in Adobe Audition (cool edit) thats the same too..just uses different names for the same thing. Dblue's Stretch vst is the same thing too and you can use it as an insert in your DAW

Now THIS is my kinda video! Nicely done Brian and thanks for taking the time to do this and share! I have been a strong advocate of Akaizer for years now and am glad to see it put through its paces from someone like yourself, who has actually had experience with the real deal since back in the day.

Does the cycle length max out @ 1000? Cuz it sounds like if you raised it to 1100 or 1200 you would match all across the board.

Pitch is definitely out, but texture and character is what counts. You can always re-pitch if you like. At least it captures 'that sound' quickly and conveniently, while being free and ITB to boot!

Hard to tell because the audio in the video is only coming out of the left channel but until you hit shorter cycle lengths it sounded really close.
