It depends on the kind of turmeric it is that will stain.

Agree with you on this one. Wish I listened to your advice. I used 2 tablespoons of organic turmeric and it stains badly. I have to use it first thing in the shower then wash my face and body ASAP to remove the stains

@@LS-xu7cv I made it for the first time on Sunday, followed ingredients to a T and hatedddd the stains... my white floral print shower cap was destroyed lol ....
It also stained my face, ears and neck when I used it as a facial scrub. Which was surprising because I am dark skinned.
this morning, I tried to fix things. I tried to follow her advice to add some milk to curb staining. I didn’t want to use cow’s milk so I used some coconut milk .... that Didn’t work. It still stained badly and even worse, it turned into a cream (was no longer a scrub). I used very little coconut milk too.
So I redid it all over again this evening with 1 teaspoon of turmeric and several drops of lemon essential oil (instead of lemon juice). Also used absolutely no milk or milk-like ingredients.

I just tried this scrub tonight and my skin feels really soft and moisturized. It even looks brighter somehow. Maybe it’s all in my mind 🤷🏾‍♀️🤔 but I’m going to keep using it 2-3 times a week and see what it yields. But for my first use, I’m very pleased 👍🏾

Hey ladies. So I was using this for a week or so and I really didn’t see much of a difference to my skin outside of the first day. Maybe I should’ve tried it for longer....? 🤔🤷🏾‍♀️ I’ve since switched to a turmeric and buttermilk mask that I have found makes my skin very soft, smooth and bright though. Equal parts turmeric to buttermilk. Leave it on for 20 minutes, wash off with a warm wash cloth and moisturize. Be careful with which washcloth you use because the turmeric does stain. I’ve been doing this every other day for about 2 weeks and I think I’m going to stick with this method.

I just made a batch I started tonight I’m going to rock with it for two weeks and see if my strawberry legs improve too. My skin feels extra smooth, soft, and has brighten a little from my first use. Remind me to update y’all!!
Day three: my skin feels extra soft all day!!! I put a little extra oil in my batch which may explain that. The worst part is the staining in my shower. I’m not currently using it on my face because I like to see how things react on my body first but maybe tonight I’ll use it on my face.
One week update: my skin is the softest it’s ever been. My tone has brightened a lot!! My best friend uses this now and she loves it. Again the worst part is the staining.
Two weeks update: Strawberry legs has DEFINITELY improved!! My skin is soft all day and has brightened up. Another tip: as soon as you step out the shower use baby gel immediately before you dry off. Then pat dry to seal in the moisture! Thank me later! Thank you for this video I will definitely continue to use this diy. GOOD DAY EVERYONE ☀️☀️ STAY HEALTHY

I’m gonna wear a long sleeve pants and shirt just in case there’s still some left on my body. For my second use I’ll probably just stick to armpits, face, and bikini area to avoid staining all my stuff lol.

Hi. I noticed in the description box that you have "t" next to lemon juice. But in the video it looks like you said tsp as in teaspoon. Is it tbsp as in tablespoon or tsp as in teaspoon? I have everything except the vitamin E. So I just want to get the measurements right. Btw, I like how direct and to the point your video is. And the little wooden spoon you use looks both cute and effective. I've read a lot of your comments. You've got a lot of positive feedback. The only negative I've seen is that the turmeric can get a little messy. But I've used turmeric to make golden milk and another face mask. It really isn't that bad. And it's a really good spice and ingredient.

why can’t i use the scrub with lemon juice after one week and what can i use to substitute the lemon juice?

    • @shelbysmith8939
      @shelbysmith8939 3 роки тому +1

You can use lime juice instead of lemon juice. I guess juices in sugar scrubs spoil faster when they’re outside of the fridge.
but if you limit the scrub’s exposure to water then I think you’ll be fine

if you don’t want to use any acidic juices, you can add several drops of lime or lemon essential oil

Yes. If you use 2 tablespoons of turmeric your hands and fingernails will stain. As well as your skin! So try 1 tablespoon or less instead.

@Rika B. it’s a good gently scrub but i’d recommend using less turmeric! Probably one tablespoon or even less than that ! it stains your hands and skin badly with 2 tablespoons.
Next time I think I might add rolled oats to the sugar to make the scrub more aggressive
edit : rolled oats or grinded oats don’t really work well with this scrub. so just use sugar on its own. Alternatively, you can use organic sea salt.

I haven't had issues with orange skin but be careful with your nails. As the person stated above you can definitely use less turmeric or try wild turmeric which is known to be less likely to stain.
