I think it was 1996 and I was able to go backstage after a Steve Miller Band Show and Norton Buffalo came out and I got to get his autograph on a shirt. I asked him about this song and why don't they ever play it anymore. He was surprised to hear about it and laughed saying how old I was making him feel haha.
Freakin' Steve Miller Band is really good, seen them a few times including the last tour before Norton passed. Man what a group of incredible musicians.
I was given tickets to see Norton at a grade school in Atascadero, Ca. There were less than 20 people and I was the only one who even knew who he was !!! Such a talent !!! RIP Norton.
This track was included on the Steve Miller Band Live album on cassette, which was on heavy rotation in my car back in the day. It was one of my favorite songs on the album. Imagine my dismay when it was cut from all future releases. I'm so glad this is available on the internet, thanks for sharing!
This was on the Steve Miller Live album and on cassette but sadly, it wasn't put on the cd version and have no idea why. This is one of the best tracks of the album.
What great song this. Steve and Norton at their best. Does someone knows what title is of this song. Is it on CD or DVD. This is really magic this is heaven

Buffalo's Serenade
sounds a lot like Willie's "Nightlife"

Wonderful performance. Norton RIP. He didn't smoke cigarettes. Maybe there was something in the harmonicas he used that was toxic.
I agree about the performance. I'm sure playing in a lot of smokey clubs may have given him Lung Cancer.
IMHO...More likely all the second hand smoke in the clubs, bars and enclosed venues.
