One of the things I've been trying to focus on this year is practicing the Sabbath. But instead of having my go-to form of rest be things like watching tv or scrolling social media (which I've found aren't actually restful anyway, they're just easy), I've been trying to find creative ways to spend time with God and rest that truly fill me up - even if they require a bit more effort on the front end.
A couple weeks ago I came across a video on the #CoffeeAndBibleTime channel where Ashley shared how she set aside an entire day to spend with God. As I was watching it, I was SO inspired and started thinking about all the creative ways I could spend time with God if I were to do the same thing - so I decided to! I figured, when else am I going to have the ability to set aside an entire day to spend with God? Outside of quarantine, there's always something happening on Saturday's, which are the only day I don't have work or church commitments.
I wasn't initially planning to film this at all, but I thought about how Ashley's video inspired ME to do this, so I decided to share some snippets from my day in hopes that it might encourage YOU to do the same thing. Even if you only have a couple hours, not an entire day to set aside, what better way to spend the extra time we have right now? 💛
I had SO much fun anticipating this day and thinking of all the things I wanted to do, and the day itself was SO beautiful and needed, and truly left my heart full. I hope this video inspires you to set aside some time to intentionally spend with God, or at the very least gives you some ideas of things you can do to spend time with Him or things to do on the Sabbath. I saw the same Coffee and Bible Time video! I spent the Saturday after watching the video to totally be with God. I went on Prayer walks and learned scripture. We always think "Why is it important to memorize scripture when I have a bible always available to me?" However, a few days later when I did a kindness project I knew exactly what verse I wanted to share in the note and it was fresh in my mind!
I love that their video inspired so many people to do this! It sounds like you had such an incredible day 😊and so true what you shared about memorization! We store it away in our hearts for the Holy Spirit to bring to our remembrance in the moment of need 💛
I love memorizing scripture! I just started on Ephesians! Have you read Janet Pope’s book called His Word in my Heart? It’s amazing!
Thank you for recording and uploading this. The last part about the scarcity mindset really convicted me. I have been going up and down in my emotions over the quarantine because I feel I have no hope of marriage. I know I’m not alone. But God has worked many miracles in my life. I really need to let him broaden my perspective. God bless you!

You inspire me so much! I've tried doing Sabbath, but thought it meant to just stop scurrying around, just to rest. A date with God makes so much more sense. I love that you made chocolate-covered strawberries.
Yes! It is a day set aside to rest, worship, and delight in Him - so I totally think it is a fitting analogy 😊 and chocolate-covered strawberries are ALWAYS a good idea 😋💛
Going for walks is one of my favorite times with God. I would really like to give an entire day to the Lord. This quarantine has certainly given me so much time with Him, yet I have also been creating more content which also brings me joy. Just want to say your channel is a blessing. Very inspiring and I pray it continues to reach out to many men and women of our generation. 🙏🏻

i wish i can do those things go outdoors like that but at least i can get to journaling like Kaci does. I am so glad that i have found her channel cause it is so motivating so encouraging it shows that spending time with God it does require me to be disciplined and grow with God. Having those nights and date nights with God is so awesome

This video in specific is so relevant in times like this, The Sabbath day of the Lord is not being upheld and it’s effects are clearly visible in the lives of our generation at large. The Father commanded us since Genesis to keep the Sabbath day holy and He blessed it too - “Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.”
(Genesis 2:3)
As per my research to grow my walk with the Father and Jesus, I discovered that the 7th day of the week is Friday sunset to Saturday sunset and thats the day our Heavenly Father consecrated and made holy. Since the days of the Father begin from evening to morning in Genesis “evening came and morning came, the first day...”and so on.
I just felt led to share this information with you and your followers to help our family of believers to grow in our walk of faith.

The Sabbath is from Friday at sunset until Saturday at sunset.
If you haven’t already, check out the Bridgetown Church podcast series on the Sabbath. It absolutely rocked my world! It will look different for everyone, but I think there’s so much value in letting go of being busy and have a Sabbath each week!
YES! Is this the one based off John Mark Comer's book "Ruthless Elimination of Hurry" ?! If so I listened already (and read the book) - LIFE changing 🙌🏼
Kaci Nicole actually no! Though it’s all by John Mark Comer haha. At the start of last year they did a series on the sabbath, then I think near the end of the year they did a series with the same title as the book. Either way though, it’s all SO good! 🙌🏻
Can I ask which day is the sabbath? I grew up going to church on Sundays but I’m not sure if that was the sabbath. Some people also say that it’s Saturday and I’m just really confused..
@@rihannafenty4203 There's a bit of debate on this one so I don't blame you for being confused! I think *technically/traditionally* the Sabbath would have been from sundown on Friday to sundown on Saturday. Sunday is often referred to as 'the Lord's Day' these days. Personally, I don't really think which specific day you do it on is the most important thing - I think the most important thing is taking the step to remember and observe the Sabbath to begin with 😊 Especially in these modern times where nothing really closes, sometimes it can be hard to Sabbath on the weekend for example, because sometimes people have to work! In that kind of scenario I know people sometimes choose a day in the middle of the week to set aside instead. Sorry for such a long answer, but I hope I helped!

Thank you so much Bobbye 😊I love that - seeing His creation definitely is an encouragement. As for your prayer life, I totally feel you! It can be so tough sometimes. The walks have been helping me, and I also like writing out my prayers sometimes to help with distraction. Sometimes I'll set a timer for 10 minutes to and I'm not really sure why but that helps haha. I'd also recommend the book "Prayer" by Tim Keller! 🙌🏼

I just like to say that I love seeing people come to God and wanting to spend more time with him but, this whole idea it’s been already set by him, that’s why God created the seventh day. For he rested on the seventh day and God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it ( génesis 2:2-3). It is also one of God’s commandments (exodus 20: 8-11) so with all due respect, don’t just choose any day to Shabbat, choose the day God is commanding us to Shabbat which is the seventh day, blessings and happy Shabbat 🙏!

Good, is what Shabbat is for, or Saturday the restful day. Just remember, Shabbat was made for man/woman, not man/woman for Shabbat... :-)
